OpenSUSE :: No Machine - Server Configuration Error?

I have run remote desktop with NX Server free edition on Opensuse 11.1 for a while now. Don't now what has changed, but now i get the following error:

I developed a java application to organize the articles and notes for what I need for my work reports. The path appear in a jlist component and by clicking on I'd like the file opened. The application works fine in /home side.
In /root side I get this message error:
"GConf Error: Failed to contact configuration server; the most common cause is a missing or misconfigured D-Bus session bus daemon." I work in KDE (OpenSuse 11.4). Why I need a configuration tipically of GNOME?

i been getting errors when trying to use zypper from the console. This happens in 2 pcs, and errors seem to be the same,One has 11.4 + gnome 2, standar installation (with gnome) from 11.4 DVD. The error i get whenever i run something like zypper install xxxyyy.rpm or zypper update is:

the other one, 11.4 with gnome 3 (clean install from live dvd):

I dont know if its related, but the one with gnome 3 constantly gives me (what i think is) a kernel panic when i shut down the system, it happens fast and the text on the screen is not "linear" but spread all over the screen, so i cant read the whole message, but it does say something about glib and corruption.This is actually the first time(s) ibe seen a kernel panic ever since i used ubuntu.

I'm trying to install the openconnect VPN client on a server machine, Debian 7 Wheezy, and APT is trying to install a lot of dependencies. I think it's trying to install the whole desktop environment.I was searching the web but all articles are for desktop machines and nobody mentions my problem with the dependencies. I also have openconnect installed in two Gnome desktop machines without problems.

I want to set up the following server in open suse:dhcpopenldapnfs (to allow users to mount their home directories from the serverI started off with the openldap server. I configured it with dc=localdomain,dc=local as its domain. As the server machine has no internet. Though when I go to add a .ldif file with the following command

I'm running CentOS 5.5 x64 and have just installed VMWare Server 1. I am able to create a new Virtual Machine, but when I go to power on the VM in order to install the OS (windows server 2003), either the host crashes/reboots (with "Run in Debugging Mode" turned on) or the VM simply does not start (with that Debugging box unchecked) and in the log there is an error along the lines of VMware Server unrecoverable error (vmx)

I am trying to install a 11.3 virtual machine through Xen on a 11.3 installation. I am trying to install from the opensuse DVD. I get to this point, setting up everything (I can only do paravirtualization) Then the DVD spins for a little while and after that I am returned this error message "device 0 vif could not be connected opensuse....."
I tried a bunch of different settings in the previous screen and I always end up with this error I googled around and it seem to be a problem in different distros but I could not spot a solution at all

I set up a Samba server on my openSuSE 11.2 machine and I can connect to it locally with the local ip and with my actuall ip. My friend however cannot. I tried to have him ping my ip and that wouldn't even work. I'm confused and wondering why it doesn't work. We share a lot of files and this would make both of our lives much easier.

I have one machine (out of a couple dozen) that continues to refuse to allow "vncserver :1" to start. It is perfectly happy with :2 - :9 but tells me :1 is already running - yet ps tells me that there is no running
Xvnc instance.
What have I done here and how do I get that session back? I've cleared the /tmp/.X11-unix entries but that did no good. Could I have checked something in Yast that is launching an invisible session?

i have a suse 11.3 machine and i cannot set it to be a NFS server that is i cannot mount a directory of this machine on another one running as well a 11.3 while i can mount without problem a directory from 10.0.i do not know where to start as the NFS server option seems to have vanished from YAST.

Running natios server in Debian 8? I cannot start nagios3 demon, it got following error:

But if I commented following statement in generic-service_nagios2.cfg, it works just fine.

I am hoping to find some much needed help here. I have been to various other sites and am beginning to think that I am not meant to have a server of my own.
I was told that OpenSuSE was good for beginners. So far, I am wondering.I am trying to set up a home network ( 2 laptops, 1 desktop. The laptops are wireless )
I'd like to set up a web server to run a personal webpage or two and maybe a forum, shoutcast server and IRC at some point down the road after I figure out the first two.
I found a guide, but it was for 64 bit and wanted me to install ISPConfig 3 ( Which, obviously I don't need )
I would like some basic, beginner help on installation, configuration and whatnot on setting up a web-server and mail server.
Yes. I have a static IP ( leasing an IP block from my ISP ). Yes, they allow me a web-server and mail server ( I had to get the IP block to do so ) and I have my own domain name to use.
On the various attempts, I managed to get apache working. ( When I visit my domain name, it says "IT WORKS!" which is nice and all, but I am use to using Cpanel and have no clue how to setup / edit a website outside of a panel ( or even FTP )
I think I got the mail server installed, but again ( as with the web server ) have no clue how to setup / configure and use it.
I either am using the wrong search words for help or asking incorrectly or something. This is my final stop. I am at the point of just forgetting it, chalking it up to a lost cause.
I do hope someone here is willing to be patient with me and help me through it all. I will even give link backs and Kudos to this site if it all works out.

Since a few weeks I cannot open a console in vmware server 2.0.2 anymore. I don't know exactly when this started because I use vmware only occasionally (I have only 1 program (an old Ashlar DrawingBoard) which does not run properly in wine). VMware server and the console have been working before without problems, but now I get the message "Cannot connect virtual machine console." and it times out. This is on Opensuse 11.1 with VMware Server on the same pc, Firefox and the guest is Windows2000.
I have tried to disable all extensions in firefox 3.6, disabled the firewall, even created a new user (on the same pc) with a clean firefox, all without any result. However when I connect from a different computer which runs Internet Explorer under windowsXP, then I can get the console without problem.
So, somewhere there is something wrong between Firefox and VMware server.

I have a 11.1 NFS server and several 11.1 NFS clients. If for some reason the server shuts down before the clients then the clients become almost frozen, particularly KDE is rendered useless even after cycling back to init 3 then init 5. I would like to make the clients immune to shutdowns on the server.
