i'm facing an error 500 internal error and i don't know where to start .... I have mounted an NFS share with ISO images on my kvm Server. If i connect such a iso to a VM (using virt-manager) for installing a operating system i get the following error on startup: Error starting domain: internal error Process exited while reading console log output: char device redirected to /dev/pts/1 qemu: could not open disk image /mnt/iso/public/Linux/Distributions/Debian/debian-504-amd64-netinst.iso: Permission denied
The problem is definitly that kvm (or qemu or libvirt-bin, i don't know) tries to set permissions (rwx owner for libvirt-qemu, --- for kvm group, --- for other) on the file, although it has read permissions. Is it possible to change this behavior?
So I'm running proftpd on an old machine just for my own backup purposes, but I'm running out of space. I was wondering if it would be safe/efficent to set up an additional USB hard drive to the LVM drive that I have now? As in, would it write quick enough (USB 2.0), read quick enough and not corrupt data?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an acer timelinex 5830tg notebook. After weeks of frustration, i finally have a linux setup that is stable. Thank god for debian. I don't know why I mess with anything else. Anyway, i'm unable to get my built in laptop speakers to work. I get sound through headphone jack, and I hear sound coming from the built in speakers for a split second when plugging in/unplugging my AC adaptor.Let me know if there is any other output needed, which may assist in this issue. Hopefully someone can help me out.

Now I've upgraded my Lenny-box to squeeze and I see that 2 of my 3 shared folders (tdone and twatch) are mounted like they should and the third one (media) doesn't come up. A 'mount -a' as root gives this error: mount.nfs4: access denied by server while mounting (null) My relevant fstab-lines:

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe're having an issue with HTTP POST file uploads on our two Ubuntu PCs. For some reason, whenever one of our users attempts to submit a file in an HTML form, the request times out, usually with a 500 Internal Server Error message. This problem is not limited to one site, but occurs on all sites that use file uploads. Also, the problem does not appear to be with our network, as a Windows 7 PC on the same network can upload files to the same sites without any difficulties. The problem is not browser-specific; we have tested with Firefox, Epiphany, and Google Chrome and all produce the same results. The issue is relatively new, and was first observed within the last month; before this time, both machines had no problems uploading files.
Does anyone have ANY idea what could be causing this? I've tried a number of things, including rebooting the PCs, rebooting the network, disabling IPv6, etc. I'm not very experienced in Linux system administration, but I can use the terminal and am familiar with some terminal-based diagnostic tools, so if you need any additional info or want me to try something, please let me know! I've exhausted my own computer knowledge with regards to finding a solution to this problem.

cups does not start with the server. When I try to start from the terminal I get the error message
cupsd: Unable to read configuration file '/etc/cups/cupsd.conf' - exiting!
cupsd: Child exited with status 1!
The log files show nothing. cupsd.conf exists. It is user - root and group - root with permissions set at 0644.
My interpretation of this is that the program is not launching from either boot or terminal for a fundamental reason. I do not quite see what that reason is .
I am *finally* getting around to rebuilding my file-sharing computer. I'll be sharing files with both Linux and Windoze machines. It's a home network, so there's nothing fancy needed. I know I have to tweak my smb.conf file until I'm satisfied with the features and security. I'm using SWAT and I'm starting with a bare-bones conf file. It's not secure but I can see the server and selected files/directories from my other Linux box.
My really dumb question is, do I have to reboot both the server and the client machines every time I change the SAMBA configuration? I thought I just had to stop and restart the SAMBA service in the SWAT software - but then the server disappears from my client. It looks like I need to reboot both machines for the client to see the server.

As title says, running unetbootin throws this error [URL]...... I can easily find the files myself (go to synaptic > look at installed files > scroll down) and I can't remove/purge because they would require me to remove some important software (XFCE).
