I tryed to install a DNS server on debian lenny, i installed bind9 and webmin, and then i installed a bind module for webmin. I created a domain with webmin but when i tryed to add a address record with it i had a Error-Missing Content-Type Header.
Running natios server in Debian 8? I cannot start nagios3 demon, it got following error:
Error: Check period '24x7' specified for service 'check ssh connection' on host 'testk2' is not defined anywhere! Error: Notification period '24x7' specified for service 'check ssh connection' on host 'testk2' is not defined anywhere!
But if I commented following statement in generic-service_nagios2.cfg, it works just fine.
i'm facing an error 500 internal error and i don't know where to start .... How can i get information about the error in order to fix it ???at /var/log/apache2/error.log i can't find anythingi have virtualmin installed , i searched at/var/log/virtualmin/domainname_error_log but nothing .... where is apache supposed to keep log for 500 errors ?
At the moment I am having a problem with the MySQL server on my VPS. It's a completely fresh install of both Debian 5 and MySQL but the problem is upon logging in I get:
[root@boris ~]#mysql -u root -p Enter password: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
I run a mediaserver on Archlinux, working perfectly (or almost). I have set up NFS v3 and that worked for me on these clients:
- Debian Lenny - Archlinux 64bit
Now I've upgraded my Lenny-box to squeeze and I see that 2 of my 3 shared folders (tdone and twatch) are mounted like they should and the third one (media) doesn't come up. A 'mount -a' as root gives this error: mount.nfs4: access denied by server while mounting (null) My relevant fstab-lines:
I was playing with my debian server when something went totally wrong while i was editing something on my network interface,i removed those crap that i wrote and left the network interface configuration as it was
Like for example after re-editing my network interface,it was like :
As i did a network restart, i get this error saying :
There is already a pid file /var/run/dhclient.eth0.pid with pid 2802 killed old client process, removed PID file.
What is this error and how can i fix it,because every time im re booting my server i lost my network config.
I have a problem with the configuration of the NS zone. Looked through the logs, and there:
Apr 28 21:20:19 szewczyk named[18340]: /etc/bind/db.domain.pl:1: no current owner name Apr 28 21:20:19 szewczyk named[18340]: zone domain.pl/IN: loading from master file /etc/bind/db.domena.pl failed: no owner
cups does not start with the server. When I try to start from the terminal I get the error message
cupsd: Unable to read configuration file '/etc/cups/cupsd.conf' - exiting! cupsd: Child exited with status 1!
The log files show nothing. cupsd.conf exists. It is user - root and group - root with permissions set at 0644.
My interpretation of this is that the program is not launching from either boot or terminal for a fundamental reason. I do not quite see what that reason is .
I am *finally* getting around to rebuilding my file-sharing computer. I'll be sharing files with both Linux and Windoze machines. It's a home network, so there's nothing fancy needed. I know I have to tweak my smb.conf file until I'm satisfied with the features and security. I'm using SWAT and I'm starting with a bare-bones conf file. It's not secure but I can see the server and selected files/directories from my other Linux box.
My really dumb question is, do I have to reboot both the server and the client machines every time I change the SAMBA configuration? I thought I just had to stop and restart the SAMBA service in the SWAT software - but then the server disappears from my client. It looks like I need to reboot both machines for the client to see the server.
I have mounted an NFS share with ISO images on my kvm Server. If i connect such a iso to a VM (using virt-manager) for installing a operating system i get the following error on startup: Error starting domain: internal error Process exited while reading console log output: char device redirected to /dev/pts/1 qemu: could not open disk image /mnt/iso/public/Linux/Distributions/Debian/debian-504-amd64-netinst.iso: Permission denied
The problem is definitly that kvm (or qemu or libvirt-bin, i don't know) tries to set permissions (rwx owner for libvirt-qemu, --- for kvm group, --- for other) on the file, although it has read permissions. Is it possible to change this behavior?
I will be relocating to a permanent residence sometime in the next year or two. I've recently begun thinking about the best way to implement a home-based network. It occurred to me that the most elegant solution might be the use of VM technology to eliminate as much hardware and wiring as possible. My thinking is this: Install a multi-core system and configure it to run several VMs, one each for a firewall, a caching proxy server, a mail server, a web server. Additionally, I would like to run 2-4 VMs as remote (RDP)workstations, using diskless workstations to boot the VMs over powerline ethernet. The latest powerline technology (available later this year) will allow multiple devices on a residential circuit operating at near gigabit speed, just like legacy wired networks.
In theory, the above would allow me to consolidate everything but the disklessworkstations on a single server and eliminate all wired (and wireless) connections except the broadband connection to the Internet and the cabling to the nearest power outlets. It appears technically possible, but I'm not sure about the various virtual connections among VMs. In theory, each VM should be able to communicate with the other as if it was on the same network via the server data bus, but what about setting up firewall zones? Any internal I/O bandwidth bottlenecks? Any other potential "gotchas", caveats, issues? (Other than the obvious requirement of having enough CPU and RAM).Any thoughts or observations welcome, especially if they are from real world experience in a VM environment. BTW--in case you're wondering why I'm posting here, it's because I run Debian on all my workstations/servers (running VirtualBox as a VM for Windows XP on one workstation).
I recently tossed Ubuntu for Debian Unstable for my personal machines and I'm having trouble building Emerald into a package. I've already configured and installed the package (using the usual ./configure, make, make install) but I wanted to make a deb for future use (for myself and for others). However every time I try to run dpkg-build I get the following error message.
I'm running the current release of Debian with the 2.6.26-2 kernel. This is an upgrade from an older (2.4 kernel) series redhat release. One of the things I had working in the older system was a dns server with accompanying monthly update of the root hints file. I tried working through a dns how-to to set this up again, but it seems much has moved around since I last played with this. All of the files listed in the how-to are not where it says they should be. I am looking for a better reference on keeping the dns server running with current server information.
I have installed nfs-kernel-server on the server and nfs-common on the client. Assumeserver 192.168.1.1client 192.168.1.3
content of /etc/exports is: /home 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0(rw,sync,no_root_squash) /home/nfsroot 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0(rw,no_subtree_check,async,no_root_squash)
I am trying to configure samba server on my linux RHEL 5 box to windows 2000 NT boxes but getting the following error
Global parameter guest account found in service section! [2010/07/16 16:01:13, 0] lib/util_sock.c826) bind failed on port 139 socket_addr = 0.0.0.0. Error = Address already in use
Seems like this is a running issue. also, sudo returns "The value user is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported" kdeusu just makes a noise and returns nothing.. In the past i had a workaround of using nautilus, but, nautilus seems to be missing from jessie repo (same for gnome files).
[URL] ... ssoo... this happened and it seems to be going somewhere, but, i can't really make sense of it, and there was no solution..
Also found this [URL] .... and the pathnames should be fine but i don't want to go around arbitrarly entering commands
There was also [URL] .... which only mentions using kdesu which... doesn't really 'exist' anymore.
Nothing serious (I think), but everytime I run apt-get to remove programs and doing upgrades... I get a strange message.

I wanted to setup my server as a router/gateway just for educational purposes and also when it succeeded i will keep the gateway and place it on the front line right after my modem.
My current setup as it is now :
The GATEWAY/ROUTER will be doing the main work to act as a dhcp server and firewall.
Now my setup as it is now :
So now what i ment to do was :
Let the clients connect to the gateway via ETH1 and all the stuff being router to ETH0 which is the NIC that is connected to the internet.
But now i have two huge problems :
1. The DHCP configuration seems to be fine the client machines get their ip adresses and /etc/resolve.conf looks fine to. But somehow the GATEWAY/ROUTER wont let me use the specified external DNs server so i cant do anything on these machines.
2. The firewall script [url] at line 27 should be DROP but if i use this line of code the GATEWAY/ROUTER cannot use his dns server settings so when i try to browse the internet or ping a machine outside my local network it would came up with nothing.
I'm getting a strange error on Ubuntu 10.04 when starting firefox, see output:

I am running apache httpd-2.2.3-43.el5.centos.3 When i restart the http, it says the following error "Invalid command 'JkSet', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration "
Do I need to install anything like tomcat? or include any configuration setting in apache? kernel version: 2.6.18-194.32.1.el5
I'm working on embedded debian. I do configuration to lightdm for autologin. My device start with autologin but sometimes I see login screen. ı will try it more than 20 times. 17 times its do autologin 3 times not do autologin and show login screen.
After adding the backports from 8/Jessie to a 7/Wheezy sources.list and running aptitude update, I get these odd error messages. What is going on?

I'm running Debian Jessie 8.2. I have a bluetooth USB dongle connected to my machine.
I run `sudo bluetoothctl -a` then do the following:

But I *can* connect to my iPhone this way. Why can't I connect to my Bose Mini II SoundLink speaker?
Had ATI card on my old setup, so this is my first experience with nVidia and Linux. I follow [URL]... , but run into problem with module assistant.
[code]...
"Fel" at the end is Swedish for "Error". I can't understand what to do to correct the error. When i look in Synaptic, it seems i have both gcc 4.4 and gcc 4.3. The gcc 4.3 states latest 4.3.4-6.
