OS 11.2. When I try to log in my account I get the message {kstartupconfig4 does not exist or fails. The error code is 1. check}. I can only log in as root. As root, I check the file system and my files are there in /home/Myname. I can run all my programmes. The executable kstartupconfig4 is there.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI got a problem with my Slackware installation after upgrading to slackware-current. I made a clean 13.1 install on my laptop, then I logged in as root, connected to the net and upgraded to slackware-current. Then, after rebooting, I try to log in to kde as root but I get this error:

kdestartupconfig4 does not exist or fails. The error code is 127. Check your installation. After getting these errors, I made a completely new fresh installation but I got the same errors again.
I even added another user with the adduser command just in case that was the problem but that didn't help. I can't log in to KDE.
I cannot run my new install with kde. I'm on dual boot winxp system with /home on a shared "data" ntfs partition.

I am not able to install 11.3 x86_64 on an OCZ 120 GB Agility 2 SSD. I receive a system error -3030 when it tries to format the drive. If I use go into rescue mode and either format or partition the drive, the installer crashes.

I did a fresh install of 11.2. When I reboot grub came up to load opensusie instead of Windows 7 MBR. Further looking at the /boot/grub/menu.lst file. I noticed it's point to hd0,2 which is my first drive three partition. I load everything including grub to sdb3 (hd1,2). When I pointed everything back to hd1,2 now I get error code 22 on reboot. How do you restore grub to sdb3 or hd1,2. I also need to repair my Windows 7 Pro MBR.

When I went to build it I was unable to download the source from [url] and I get a 404 error in dutch. I was wondering if anyone had this issue or if there was another trusted place to grab the source code? View 3 Replies View RelatedI am fairly new to Linux and have been striking hassles with my AWUS036H (RTL8187) under Debian Lenny. The standard (built in) driver works but reception is pathetic compared to the same card under Backtrack 4 or even Windows 7. I have tried to build drivers which I got from the Alfa website, the Realtek website and also the Linux Wireless project page. All of them fail during Make with an Error 2. I don't have the error in front of me (had to go back to Windows for the moment) but it is identical to the one this guy gets:

I just downloaded OpenSUSE 11.4. After burning the iso and trying to install I get a "cannot exec bcedit.exe" error and the install fails. Has anyone else had this happen and what do I do now?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm currently running 11.3 and decided I'd try upgrading to 11.4 following the instructions here: SDB:System upgrade - openSUSEUnfortunately, my attempts are defeated at the point of trying to refresh the new repos; I get the following message (for the oss repo, in this case):
Download (curl) error for 'url':
Error code: Connection failed
Error message: Couldn't resolve host 'download.opensuse.org'
With 11.4 replaced by 11.3 in the repo url, it refreshes just fine. The only repository that works when I change 11.3 to 11.4 is the Packman repo. I'm not really sure why the connection fails for 11.4 but not 11.3!
Further info: I have an old router with no IPv6 support, but have IPv6 disabled system-wide. I can enter the url for the repositories into firefox and they come up just fine - it's only with zypper/YaST that I get the above error message.I also tried upgrading using the network CD but ran into the same sort of problem. In this case it may be because the CD installer doesn't disable IPv6. (I didn't want to download the DVD at my connection speed, and the KDE live CD is not listed as suitable for upgrade).
I'm using OpenSUSE 11.4, trying to install to an iSCSI partition. I'm using gPXE to boot to my iSCSI volume. This works fine, and pulls up grub with my boot options. I think boot the openSUSE 11.4 entry, which kicks off the boot process. I see the steps for running DHCP on the interface, but when it gets to iscsiadm, there's an error logging in to the iSCSI target portal along the lines of "15 - already exists. After that things start to fall apart - I/O errors, mainly, and the system completely fails to boot. What's going on and what this already exists message means?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI want to stop using Windows because it sucks so i have downloaded all kind of distibutions from Linux. They give all the same error because it seems Linux has problems with Fakeraid. Now i have running OpenSuse in VmWare 7.0.1 but i want it as the only OS.
The installation goes fine but in the end it gives a Grub error because it cannot create the bootloader. It seems to be a common problem and i have done all the steps that i could find on Google.
I have two raid controllers. One is integrated in the mainboard from Asrock ALiveNF7G-HD720p R5.0 and OpenSuse sees it as a Jmicron controller.I have bought also a EM2001 2 Poorts PCI Controller SATA card with two harddisks in Raid 0 because Linux failed to install on the JMicron. On the EM2001 2 Poorts PCI Controller SATA it also fails with the same error.
I want OpenSuse 11.2 working on Raid 0. I know it must be some simple commands in the terminal through a live cd to correct the bootloader and do it manualy by Linux users but i'm a Windows user.
Can somewhone please tell me the exact steps and commands to install Linux on Raid 0 Fakeraid?

I am brand new to openSUSE (coming from Fedora then Kubuntu then Linux Mint) and I must say I am very impressed. Unfortunately I am also a C# developer and I need Mono (and more specifically MonoDevelop) to function correctly. I installed MonoDevelop from YaST and started with the simple "Hello World" command line project that is included by default. I then added Tarball packaging to the solution and attempted to build the package. It spit out the following error:
"Package creation failed. Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
I then tried double clicking on the Tarball package in the solution and it gave me an Unhandled Exception error dialog with a stack trace. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem? It's as if I am missing a required package or something. I have tried to install automake but that didn't change anything.

If I low level formatted a drive, then created a partition table, and installed Linuxes with their bootloaders *only* on their root partitions, would the one with the bootable flag set boot?
To put it another way; does the process of creating a partition table using Linux tools put generic code in the MBR?
Anyone installed natty beta 2 from USB? Fails with errno 5 (io error) on me but ubuntu beta 2 worked fine with the same HD partition?

I have the ISO (that I had previously) on a USB courtesy of UNetBootIn. All appears well until, quite quickly, I receive an error after the loading process which goes something like:

Error: cannot find disk at [hash-code - looks like 0ace5f etc etc, is about 12 char's in length.]Something very similar (but not same error I think) happened when I tried to do the same with my OpenSolaris or Fedora install. I.e., gets as far as the very beginning of the loader and then: bork.
At least one of them said "will reboot in 120 secs". Saves me the trouble!
If I have a hard-disk with Ubuntu fully installed on it and I want to - all of a sudden - use Windows XP, is it mandatory that I firstly format the hard-disk first? So far, I have used two versions of Windows XP; one of them is from a few years before the other. Both copies of Windows XP when in start-up from booting from CD are causing errors. One of them is a BSOD error (0x0000007B) and the next Windows CD is stopping and giving me an error with setupdd.sys (error code 4). Is it required that the hard-disk is formatted before you even put a Windows boot CD in?

I am trying to build the java gnome gtk+ bindings on open suse and ran into a snag. the libcairo2-dev package is not apart of pensuse - how ever it is apart of ubuntu and the debian launchpad. can i install other distros repos to solve this issue? actually no i cant. how to install this package? zypper install libcairo2-dev comes back as not found.
