Slackware :: Id3-0.78 Homepage For Source Code 404 Error - Slackbuild Fails
Dec 19, 2010
I am trying to build abcde from slackbuilds.org and include needed packages like id3. When I went to build it I was unable to download the source from [url] and I get a 404 error in dutch. I was wondering if anyone had this issue or if there was another trusted place to grab the source code? I checked the archives of the slackbuilds-user mailing list to see if the issue is already known, but I didn't see anything.

I got a problem with my Slackware installation after upgrading to slackware-current. I made a clean 13.1 install on my laptop, then I logged in as root, connected to the net and upgraded to slackware-current. Then, after rebooting, I try to log in to kde as root but I get this error:
Code:
kdestartupconfig4 does not exist or fails. The error code is 127. Check your installation. After getting these errors, I made a completely new fresh installation but I got the same errors again.
I even added another user with the adduser command just in case that was the problem but that didn't help. I can't log in to KDE.

I have the latest fbreader.Slackbuild via sbopkg. The compilation steps seem to run OK until, if I understand this correctly, it starts work on libzlcore, at which point things go wrong :
Code:
OK
The README says I will need liblinebreak, which I "Slackbuilt" with no problems.

The error has to do with Twolame failing to compile. Which is strange to me because it compiled fine by itself with the slackbuilds build.
The error log is attached.

I am trying to build conky from SlackBuilds.org using sbopkg, but the build fails every single time. It may be worth noting that I am trying to build with extra options, namely --disable-x11 --disable-xdamage --disable-own-window --disable-xft.
This is so I can have a cli-only conky that I can pipe to my status bar. This has worked in the past, but now the build is failing with a seemingly unrelated error.
It states:
Code:
At the end of the build. I tried removing the option --enable-audacious, but that only resulted in an error which complained that yet another option (--enable-rss=yes) was a "Command not found". This continues as I remove options. I would like to keep many of those options active as I have a need for certain features.
This is a copy of the SlackBuild being used:
Code:
I have a full install of Slackware64 v13.1, so audacious is installed. I don't know what else could be going wrong, and I don't know why this worked in the past.

I was trying to use alien bob's slackbuild mentioned in another thread [url] and it failed everytime, so I tried to do it individually, building dependencies with sbopkg which worked except for Schroedinger and then ffmpeg still fails. I don't have access to the logs or fail messages at this moment, but I'm wondering if it is failing due to the newest gcc-multilib version? I'm also running kernel 2.6.33-rc3 with multilib-current.

My system is mostly slack 11.0 (Absolute Linux 11.0 actually) I have been trying to build stfl from SlackBuilds.org. I think I'm missing some ncurses wide stuff but don't know how to compile for ncursesw.
I have stock ncurses5.5 on my system.
Compiler output is:
I have /usr/include/ncurses on my system but not /usr/include/ncursesw/ncurses.h
My goal is to compile newsbeuter but this dependency is in the way.

I have HandBrake 0.9.4 installed from Slackbuilds.org, but a new version came out yesterday that I want to install, but it isn't up on slackbuilds yet. Can I install it from source without doing anything to the old install?
When I installed it from slackbuilds, the slackbuild script also installed all the external multimedia libraries that I need. If I use removepkg (or whatever the command is) to remove the old HandBrake before installing the new one, will that also remove the multimedia packages that were installed along with handbrake? They were all built into the same .tgz
On my work computer so I can't do anything with it right now anyway, so maybe a slackbuild will be up when I get home.

I am trying to build ORBit2 as a dependency for GConf and then google-chrome.
This is a multilib system and I want 32 bit chrome.
Both my 64 bit and compat32 packages are all current as of today per ftp://slackware.mirrors.tds.net/pub/slackware/.
I have edited the Slackbuild as follows:
Code:
The build fails each time with:
Code:
I am using the newest version of ORBit2 as the above indicates, but this is just to see if the newer package would build. The X.X.17 version failed with the same output.
I have run:
Code:
I've had no problems building this package with current in a pure 64 bit environment.

I have a Bash script that runs other bash scripts. If the parent code fails, is there any way for me to also kill the child code? That kills any multiple instances of a script if I run it more than once. Is there any way I can just modify this into something that prevents the child code from running/continuing from running if the parent stops from an error?

I am trying to build "LMMS - Linux MultiMedia Studio" on Slackware Current.
CMake is halting on "printf" lines in various .cpp files. I am assuming it's a conflict with the newer GCC? Does anyone know a work around for this issue?
I've tried commenting out the printf lines but I think they may be needed in the application. Apparently there are lots .cpp using the printf call.

Been trying to get Enlightenment to install on my 13.37 multilib. Used sbo to install most of the libraries (ecore needed the LDFLAGS="-L/usr/lib${LIBDIRSUFFIX}" fix so I manually did that). All installed correctly. Then started enlightenment itself in sbopkg. It did the 'file in wrong format' thing, so I manually dled the slackbuild, added the LDFLAGS line, and ran it. It produced this error, and I have no idea what its telling me.
Code:
checking how to recognize dependent libraries... pass_all
checking for ar... ar
checking for strip... strip
checking for ranlib... ranlib
checking command to parse /usr/bin/nm -B output from gcc -std=gnu99 object... ok

Before anyone panics, the source tarball for Slackware 13.37 doesn't appear to be the "bad" tarball that Chris Evans mentions here:
[URL]
Code:
$> sha256sum vsftpd-2.3.4.tar.gz
b466edf96437afa2b2bea6981d4ab8b0204b83ca0a2ac94bef6b62b42cc71a5a vsftpd-2.3.4.tar.gz
I checked str.c for the call to vsf_sysutil_extra() if the user is specified as and I also checked for the rogue shellcode in sysdeputil.c but I didn't find it, so it looks like the backdoor was uploaded recently.
[URL]
Quote:
Chris Evans, aka Scary Beasts, has confirmed that version 2.3.4 of vsftpd's downloadable source code was compromised and a backdoor added to the code. Evans, the author of vsftpd - which is described on its web site as "probably the most secure and fastest FTP server for Unix-like systems" - was alerted on Sunday to the fact that a bad tarball had been downloaded from the vsftpd master site with an invalid GPG signature. It is not known how long the bad code had been online.
The bad tarball included a backdoor in the code which would respond to a user logging in with a user name "" by listening on port 6200 for a connection and launching a shell when someone connects.Evans has now moved the source code and site to [URL] a Google App Engine hosted site. The GPL-licensed source code can be downloaded (direct download) from the same site, along with the GPG signature for validating the download, a step that Evans recommends. Evans says that the lack of obfuscation and lack of victim identification leads him to believe that "perhaps someone was just having some lulz instead of seriously trying to cause trouble".

I am fairly new to Linux and have been striking hassles with my AWUS036H (RTL8187) under Debian Lenny. The standard (built in) driver works but reception is pathetic compared to the same card under Backtrack 4 or even Windows 7. I have tried to build drivers which I got from the Alfa website, the Realtek website and also the Linux Wireless project page. All of them fail during Make with an Error 2. I don't have the error in front of me (had to go back to Windows for the moment) but it is identical to the one this guy gets:
darkReaction:/home/georanson# cd /home/georanson/Desktop/Downloads/ndiswrapper-1.52
darkReaction:/home/georanson/Desktop/Downloads/ndiswrapper-1.52# make
make -C driver
make[1]: Entering directory '/home/georanson/Desktop/Downloads/ndiswrapper-1.52/driver'
Makefile:35: *** Cannot find kernel version in /lib/modules/2.6.18-6-686/build, is it configured?. Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory '/home/georanson/Desktop/Downloads/ndiswrapper-1.52/driver'
make: *** [all] Error 2
I get the error 2 code and the reference to "kernel version".

12.2 is up to date and am running the Firefox from Slackbuilds. There was an update to FF a few months ago. Since then FF "hangs" when I close it out. It does seem to shut down better from the home page instead of whatever site I happen to be on at the time of shutting down. I do have a few addons to FF but they were there before the update with no issues. The addons are Gmarks [disabled], Rankchecker, Scribefire, SEO for FF [disabled], SEO Toolbar, Weatherbug and Web Developer. I haven't done any "fixes" so I'm fairly certain I didn't create my own problem.
