I just got Clear mobile Wimax. It uses a Motorola USB stick modem that comes with a Windows driver. I didn't see a Linux driver and was wondering if I could expect to see one for openSuse moblin for netbooks?

Imagine this scenario at my home: I'm working on my laptop using WLAN receiver as I have a router installed at my home. Suddenly the electricity fails (it's a regular incident here in Bangladesh called Load-shedding) and the power source to modem and router dies.As a result, my internet connection drops. To connect to the internet without power, I use this QUBEE UH-235 WiMAX USB Modem. Now I know QUBEE may not be there in your country. But after a bit of research I figured that this UH-235 modem is commont every country. QUBEE just branded its logo on the device and the software within.This one is not my device, mine is here.
In my windows, the software is installed as soon as I plug in the USB. That software then detects the modem, scans for network, and then connects to the internet. No extra CD is required for this. However, on an Ubuntu machine, I can't get it working. I guess there are ways to get this UH-235 modem working on my Ubuntu machine. This is keeping me from using Ubuntu as you know I'll have to restart and log in to WIndows whenever electricity is off as Ubuntu works with Wi-Fi, not this UH-235 modem when the Wi-Fi is out of power
There is one thing missing (I think) a clear guide to clearing out Nvidia and replacing it with nouveau. For all but hardened gamers, nouveau on 11.4 delivers. It also removes one more barrier to what I think is the intended goad of Tumbleweed.The problem IMHO is not that there are no clear guides. The problem is there are too many. No sooner does one person do a guide (that is clear) and someone else who does not like some point writes another guide that they think is more clear (but in fact is less clear in other aspects). And this goes on ad infinitum.IMHO we have too many guides - many of which are sufficient clear ... but the VAST number only serves to confuse users more.
Having typed that, IMHO this is NOT a Tumbleweed specific issue, but its MUCH WIDER in scope and hence does not belong as a discussion in this Tumbleweed thread.
I have a lenovo desktop pc (WIN7) that I connect to the interrnet with. I have a custom built box (SuSE11.3). I have clear internet service and use a USB modem to connect to the internet. Clear does not make a Linux driver yet... I can connect to the Internet through VMware desktop with SuSE as the guest OS. However, I want to connect my other system to a router and my other PC. Would I be able to access the web with the linux box? I have a free NIC card on both pc's, I'm just not savvy enough to network them so if anyone could explain or tell me if it is even posssible to network the 2, My goal is to run SuSE on one, WIN7 on the other and access the internet from both.

I've been all over the internet trying to locate Linux drivers but no success. Alcatel's website says is not supported, only in Windows. I'm sure there's gotta be a way to use the X200 in Linux.
Is there a cc cleaner equivalent for linux to clear out tmp, internet files, etc.?

My endgame is having Ubuntu successfully installed (either 9.10 or 10.04) with a fully working Ati 4870x2. I desperately need some help on finding the proper configuration of OS version and driver version. I installed 10.04 with the 10.3 driver package from ATI's site and it was a no go - I had nothing but problems.
I would like to have full 3d acceleration so I can play some games through Wine. It has a Conexant HSF modem/chipset, for which I bought the Linuxant HSF modem driver- 56K max.It is installed and it "functions",ie: it will connect to my ISP and I can start to browse (Firefox), but it will inevitably disconnect itself. At this point it is always down to "turtle speed of 4800bps".I have consulted with Linuxant Support and they suggested different modem init. strings - mainly different modulations - V34,V90,V92 w/variations. I have Knoppix 5.1.1 Live CD which loads up fine, and I was hoping to try the HSF driver with it, but I need to get Kernel Source pkg. and that will take 2+ hrs. to download by dialup , so haven't tried it yet.

Sprint lists this as a U300 but the actual part is a Franklin Wireless FW300DOWMX.
lsusb shows this as ID 16d8:6002 CMOTECH Co., Ltd. and ID 0409:005a NEC Corp. HighSpeed Hub
so my box can see the part.
If I can get just the 3G working that would help a lot. I would be happy to do beta, even alpha, testing.

I just downloaded Ubuntu Studio on my laptop and I can't get the wireless to work. I think it's because I need a driver; the Atheros AR928x. Whatever the driver is, it works with the pretty unpopular Musix distribution, because wireless worked instantly when I got that. I switched because it was old and slow.
