Does anyone know where I can get this driver: bcm4329.ko ?
I've checked Broadcom's website, they seem to have drivers for everything except the 4329.
Another question; if I have a bcm4329.ko file that has previously worked on a Nexus One, is it guaranteed to still work (on a Nexus One), regardless of the kernel number?
I'm attempting to install the driver for my atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet adapter (in my Lenovo laptop) on my newly installed RHEL5 system (it's not currently being recognized).
I tried using: 'make install' but hit an error "Makefile:61: *** Linux kernel source not found."
After this, I tried: 'sudo yum install kernel-devel kernel-headers'
To rectify this, but hit this error "No package kernel-devel available" (and the same for the headers). What should I do?

My endgame is having Ubuntu successfully installed (either 9.10 or 10.04) with a fully working Ati 4870x2. I desperately need some help on finding the proper configuration of OS version and driver version. I installed 10.04 with the 10.3 driver package from ATI's site and it was a no go - I had nothing but problems.
I would like to have full 3d acceleration so I can play some games through Wine. This is a powerful card - I know ATI doesn't have a great reputation in the Linux world but I really hope there is a driver version I can install to get some good results.The rest of my specs are in my signature I need to install 64 bit Ubuntu to make use all of the system and video ram.
With the recent upgrade kernel, my ATI driver can no longer work. After upgrading to the new kernel, upon reboot I would get stuck at the "checking battery status" and can't boot into kubuntu.
I'm running Kubuntu 10.10 64 on intel i5 with radeon hd 4870.
So I thought I messed something up since I was fooling around with conky script the day before. I did a clean install of kubuntu 10.10 64 and reset all my settings and my files. At this point, everything works smoothly and I can reboot multiple times without a problem.
I proceeded to install the Radeon catalyst driver following the documentation, which worked perfectly for me on the previous kernel. After rebooting, I can no longer get pass the "checking battery state" black screen. I had to boot into safe book, uninstall all fglrx and also delete xorg.conf to be able to boot back in normally.
I just downloaded Ubuntu Studio on my laptop and I can't get the wireless to work. I think it's because I need a driver; the Atheros AR928x. Whatever the driver is, it works with the pretty unpopular Musix distribution, because wireless worked instantly when I got that. I switched because it was old and slow.

View 11 Replies View Relatedmy problem is on installing nvidia driver on fc12 32bit but, first of all, as i understood the pae kernel requires more than 4gb of ram,i have a 2.2 ghz cpu with 2 gb ram,but when i run command:uname -r it answers: 2.6.31.5-127.PAE [i have fc12 32 bit] when we try to download linux we have a 32bit edition or 64bit edition,do we have an edition which is only for pae? or when we install for example the 32bit edition on a computer with more than 4gb of ram then the kernel automatically will change to be a pae kernel??
View 10 Replies View RelatedI write the network driver. Transmission of packets in user space I do through netlink socket`s. In user space there is a handling of packets and their transmission on other device (however, it isn't important).
Problem in that any time, packets through the driver in system, and is reverse, are transferred normally. But then there comes the moment when the kernel crash. If to look in syslog it seems to me that comes deadlock. Also I think that it is related with netlink socket`s.
I can't find the information on that anywhere how correctly to use netlink socket`s in kernel space. Can at you will any a reason into the account of synchronization of sockets and the driver in kernel space?
I can give the driver code if it is necessary.
The Hardware Driversscreen shows that it needs the driver for it and when I click "activate" it tries to download it. This doesn't work because neither my ethernet nor wireless cards work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed the Maverick backport kernel (2.6.35 - from the lucid-updates/main repo) and while I was at it I also manually (through synaptic) got rid of some old kernels. I made sure that I kept the current Lucid kernel though (that was working fine). All seemed well (although I didn't actually check - just no errors) so I rebooted.On reboot I have lost all my Ubuntu kernel options!
I rebooted with a live cd, mounted, etc and ran

Even reinstalled burg (used to use it but it got broken by a kernel update long ago and never bothered to fix it as I only use Linux these days anyway)Funny thing is that BURG finds the kernels and reports no problem, but then drops to the grub-error prompt on boot.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an old Dell Dimension 3000 Desktop computer which used to run Windows XP but I installed Linux Ubuntu 10.04 32-bit onto it. It has a pentium 4 2.8Ghz, 1GB of ram(I think), a 120GB HDD...etc. Anyway, so when I install Ubuntu I try to install the graphics drivers for it. I go to intels website. There were two drivers available for Linux for my adapter:
the i915graphics and a intelgraphics driver. Both were tar.gz. When I try to install them, it can't for some reason. I tried "sudo sh" in terminal, I tried extracting the package and executing it...etc. Nothing works. It does give me a message in terminal though.
