I am running Ubuntu Desktop and need to install a Wavecom WMOD2 USB.tell me in laymans terms how to install it?I ask because I cannot find the drivers ANYWHERE?! My client asked me to have this done by tomorrow, and I did not think I would have this much trouble finding drivers.....

I'm in charge of the hardware and my friend about software (linux distribution, etc). after searching through many models of motherboards I've found one candidate: Asus P6X58D Premium. Then, I realized that probably, there isn't any driver for that motherboard. So, I've browsed to [URL] then on the download tab and discovered there was: "DOS, Netware, Unixware, Windows 2000 to 7 x64 and others" but no Linux option
So, I've searched in other similar motherboards: for example P6T Deluxe. At the Linux option, the drivers were about audio issues....So, does really need a distribution x64 for server based on Debian, Ubuntu, etc, these drivers to work correctly on Asus P6X58D Premium?

I am using a broadcom modem. After failing to connect it, I decided to use an NDISWRAPPER, but it needs a drive I cannot find: I believe it is bcm4312.inf. Finding drivers is not that difficult to find; but finding this particular one in .inf format has been difficult. Is there any forum (this?) where I could request such a drive?

As the drivers will be the same how do I find the drivers to allow me to use kubuntu? I plan to make a live usb which I'll add the drivers to so that it'll work each time I plug in. Alternatively if I can find the drivers then I'll just enable them each time via the cd.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHVR on Ubuntu 9.10 the capture card is streaming data in on /dev/video0 however nothing I've tried seems to be able to open the device, so far MythTV, tvtime, totem movie player, and others. The drivers in /lib/firmware appear to be the ones specified for this usb attached device.
lsmod seems to list a bunch of the relevant modules. There's something on the forums about "recompiling the driver" - anyone have any instructions on how to do that? Note, no usb device is shown on /media however if I do cat /dev/video0 > temp.mpeg a file is produced which media player can't display?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've installed it and it looks great. my problem is that I cant connect to the net since I could not find the driver for my onboard network adapter. it is a Gigabyte GA 945 GCM S2L board. of coarse I searched their site but it says that Linux driver I have to achieve from 3rd party. the adapter's chipset is a Realtek RTL 8111C but I could not find the driver for it. the only one that I've found - doesn't work. I must point out that when I've searched driver for my Nvidia display adapter- I've found it on Nvidia's site and it works great.

But I'm not getting along with it as well as I expected I would Specially cause I'm not getting the best out of it due to limited web connectivity. I used to use a usb WiMax modem back in windows (which is also supposed to be supported by linux as my service provider said) for internet. But I'm having a hard time configuring it on my Ubuntu. I just installed ubuntu 10.10 on my HP G70-460US laptop, the ethernet connection works but my wifi card cant be detected..I dont know if the the wifi state being "off" (there is a button to turn it on and off) has anything to do with ubuntu not being able to pick up on it..but even before i had no problem getting ubuntu to find the proprietary drivers.

I have a Centos 5.4 server running kernel 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5PAE. It has an internal modem, and I need to be able to issue AT commands from a script to the modem. I need to simply dial a number and hang up. The relevant piece of my script is:

With an external modem, this works no problem. With an INTERNAL modem, the call never goes out. I fired up minicom to make sure the modem was working correctly, and if I issue those AT commands from within minicom, everything works great.
While minicom was running, I noticed a peculiar fact: WHILE minicom is running, the script works from the command line, and I can see all the AT commands and OK's in minicom, (minicom acts as a monitor). When I exit minicom, the script stops working. It appears minicom is creating a bridge between the com port and the modem itself. So, what is minicom doing that I'm unaware of?

Now it's back again. So it must have been automatically created by some process, but what can I do to figure out which program is creating it? I think it's likely that if I delete the folder it'll eventually be created again, so I should be able to catch this program in the act if anyone can suggest a technique for doing so. By the way, there are no files in this mystery folder, and its name is the same as another folder I created months ago to hold my personal documents, not something that a program would create to hold its own configuration files or the like.
