Ubuntu :: Built In Webcam Won't Work On TinyChat?
Jun 5, 2010I've tried my built in webcam with TinyChat and it wont work. It works on some other programs, but for some reason TinyChat can't find my webcam.
I have an HP Pavilion dv2000 and a built in webcam with it. I'm currently running Ubuntu v.10.4 LTS

Apr 25, 2010Im trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 in a friends laptop,but everytime I put in the disc with the ISO it doesnt show the Ubuntu menu with the Installation options etc, it just starts up Windows normally, and when its on Windows it recognizes the disc and a window pops up showing the files within the disc (the ISO) and it doesnt let me install it.

On certain web pages, for instance www.slackware.com, Firefox doesnt display the background image, but instead displays multiple images of the tool bar of Firefox. It doesnt matter if I change the settings to allow third part cookies or if I tell Firefox to get images automatically. When using Konqueror, the web-site(s) appear normal.

Jul 6, 2011For some reason Cheese works for the 1st time when I launch the application fresh but after I use it and I close the application, the next time I go to use it, it doesn't show any video from my web cam. I can see the web cam turn on and it activates the flash LED however I don't see any video. I reboot my Ubuntu PC and it works fine the next time but I have to always reboot my PC and it sucks.

It still shows up fine when i enter lsusb, but it won't show up as a video device anywhere else. I have faith that this bug is a simple fix for someone who knows what they're doing, but unfortunately I don't. If it's relevant this is on my aging Toshiba Satellite.

Jan 30, 2011Running openSUSE 11.3, installed a month ago, and the only change I did from the default install was to update to kde 4.5 (along with usual updates).Since the upgrade, kmix doesn't start. When I click it, I see the bouncy kmix icon, and a new slot is opened on the task bar which reads 'kmix', but it shows nothing, and after a minute or so it disappears, along with the kmix bouncy icon.No error is given, so I tried to run from shell. This time when I try 'kmix' it does nothing at all (doesn't appear in 'jobs').

Aug 4, 2010The situation:At my workplace there is a shared printer installed in WINDOWS. It's installed also in my windows system(WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE version 7600). It's working very well. From windows I shared it to have the option for printing from openSuSE 11.3. In Samba I can see the other colleagues connected to the same workplace network. I shared also the printer with Samba.I can see it.
The problem :The printer doesn't work.I can't find a opensuSE11.3 driver for it (Samsung CLX 3170 FN).The question 1:Is it really need a properly driver for it if it installed in windows? The question 2:How can I make printing from openSuSE11.3 with the shared installed in windows server printer? Steps done:in MS Win system I shared ,I noted the WORKGROUP,the PC name and the IP for the printer. //ALso I know the domain and my IP.well done in resolv.conf,in fact I have internet connection from openSuSE 11.3,no problem,e-mail/evolution and kmail are working very well,configured both for the workplace). Now in openSuSE what should I do? I need some advices/right steps) about configuring this printer USING few ways(Samba,Printer config from YAST etc) because I am thinking somehow I did something wrong. When I make print test page the printer make the noise is preparing but nothing is happening. I believe that maybe the driver missing is the problem. BUT ONCE AGAIN,it's installed in my PC in Windows system,/I have dual boot system/GRUB MANAGER/openSuSE and Windows 7 Ultimate 7 7600. Can I work with the printer via internet/network //Samba/CUPS/etc,etc with localhost /IP,or other way if I DON'T have a driver for openSuSE
