View 4 RepliesIs there a webcam support for Kopete in Fedora 11?If I follow the steps here:URL....then the 1st and 2nd steps are fine but at the 3rd step, I don't have any "send webcam" (nor receive) option in the file menu. I did have it in F8.Has this been removed in F11?Tested over the MSN protocol with ports 6891-6892 open (tcp and udp).

View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyway since I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 when I right-click on something and there is another menu in that menu, it doesn't show up for the first time!
for example if I want to create a an "Empty File", I'll right-click on desktop and when I want to go to "Create Document" menu, it doesn't show up! so I must click somewhere else and try again so for the second time it works!!
I've used this video conferencing web app on Windows 7 and it works perfectly. [URL] But I'm having flash problems. Flash doesn't load and the light at my webcam doesn't switch on at all. Things to note:Cheese works so I know my webcam in Ubuntu is functional. I've tried purging the flash plugin and reinstalling it. It doesn't work on Chrome and Firefox so it's definitely only a flash problem. I'm not using any medication so I know it isn't me just imagining it. EDIT: I checked out [URL] Here's a screenshot: [URL] I'll check back later, Charlie the Unicorn just rang my doorbell and invited me to tea on the magic hot air balloon. Definitely not hallucinating. Definitely. Definitely.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen i run skype, it detects my camera , but it work show any picture when i test. In gstreamer-properties testing, it works fine using v4l2. When i use Cheese, it comes up with no problem. Below is the terminal output from my testing. How can i get this to work?
omar@omar-desktop:~$ lsmod | grep videodev
videodev 75143 1 uvcvideo

My webcam does show up in wxcam bit it doesnt in tinychat...how do i fix?
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason Cheese works for the 1st time when I launch the application fresh but after I use it and I close the application, the next time I go to use it, it doesn't show any video from my web cam. I can see the web cam turn on and it activates the flash LED however I don't see any video. I reboot my Ubuntu PC and it works fine the next time but I have to always reboot my PC and it sucks.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have installed the gspca2 driver for my webcam, but in kopete, I still get only a wierd multi colored/scrambled thick line across the top of the webcam screen and the rest remains blank. This is in Kopete. In Kopete, under video, under device, under input, it shows "sonixj" and the device is "USB camera". I know the webcam works in Win7/Vista/XP, but I am trying to get away from using those OSs.
I had tried the 1 click SuSE install of the gspca2 driver but it wouldn't complete the install. Doing it in YaST directly seemed to work but I still get the same bad screen when using the webcam, which has it's LED light up.
Few months ago I had updated my OpenSuse 11.2 to new kernel but I broke it so never got to fix it. Now I've upgraded it to 11.3 and its working really well. Really happy with the KDE interface. Not missing Windows 7 at all (dual booting). I've got almost everything working and in fact got a lot more apps than Windows. For example 2 or 3 different versions of MSN Messenger!
I've got couple of minor issues. Firstly, my Logitech Webcam isn't getting detected by OpenSuse. When I open up the Cheese app it doesn't detect any cam.
Secondly, is there a Yahoo Messenger available for Linux? I've got some family/friends who use MSN and others Yahoo. I need webcam functionality in Yahoo Messenger.
So my Microsoft Lifecam NX-3000 used to work with 9.04, but I can't seem to get anything from it now (Xubuntu 9.10). It still shows up fine when i enter lsusb, but it won't show up as a video device anywhere else. I have faith that this bug is a simple fix for someone who knows what they're doing, but unfortunately I don't. If it's relevant this is on my aging Toshiba Satellite.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI get the following information : "Your video driver doesn't support the requested video format" while trying to use video in Ekiga, using 10.04

I am trying to get a Logitech Webcam (not Quickcam) Pro 9000 to work with my SUSE 11.2 installation (specifically trying to get it to work with Skype 2.1). I am using the KDE environment. I've been reading the many posts and seem to be getting the point that I need to install the UVC driver from the webcam driver repo. However, the link I found to the repo seems to be for SUSE 11.1...?
Anyway, here is what I have done so far:I ran the following commands and got the following output:
localhost:~ # lsusb

I am trying to to communicate from local host (Linux suse11.2) to remot server (solaria) X server through following steps:
1. telnet remotehostIP
2. setenv DISPLAY localhostip:0.0
after running an application such as xclock, the terminal dose not show anything, it looks like that the xclock application is running but its not displaying on my screen.I also tried xhost + remotehostIP then ssh -X loginremotehost but didn't solve the issue.
I have a webcam in my monitor (Acer H243HX). It is seen by the system (11.4):
Code:
> kernel - - - [302942.719649] usb 2-5.4: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3

I have difficulty with my webcam and Skype. I can see the other person but she can't see me. From a previous thread: Are you sure your camera isnt working? Supported hardware drivers are in the kernel usually. Test: press alt+f2, type gstreamer-properties go to the video tab and see if your camera is listed as a device. If yes, press the test button. This test was OK. I could see my face on the screen.
Quote: Ah, the Skype camera thing. Launch it this way: LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype
I tried this. It launches Skype OK, but the little window that should show what my webcam sees, appears full of black and white static.
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 on my MSI-16362 laptop and it doesn't recognize my built-in webcam. last time I used Ubuntu (9.04 I think) it recognized the LT webcam w/o any problem. Does someone has any idea how to fix it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I tried skyping this morning and I could not get my webcam to work it seemed like ti wasn't turning on. TO double check that it just was not skype I opened up Cheese the webcam picture application and it said "no device" found. The only thing I have really changed on my computer since I last skyped were just system updates so something broke in it.

Code: Select allPlaying tv:///dev/video0.
the filename option must be an integer: dev/video0
Struct tv, field filename parsing error: dev/video0

Note aside:
- I've tried 3 different cams(got the same error for all of them)
- The output of the command: ls -ltr /dev/video* is crw-rw—-+ 1 root video 81, 0 Nov 11 09:06 /dev/video0
- The cam works in a program like "scratch" in a startx session but doesn't in the command line

With mplayer I used this command mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l:width=640:height=480:device=/dev/video0
Both jmf and mplayer just give static looking like this [url]
The web cam on my Dell Inspiron mini 10 doesn't work properly. Cheese only takes very dark pictures but no video and the main screen stays dark all the time. Skype transmits a very dark image, too. How can that be tweaked.

i cannot use cheese, is there anyone know how to fix this problem?
My webcam worked with every application in Linux Mint6. I just upgraded to Ubuntu 8.04 and find that the input from the webcam looks like a green TV without horizontal lock in Camorama and Skype. However it works perfectly with Cheese.
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy Logitech webcam C 200 under openSuse 11.2-2.6.31.5 appears as046d:0802, but in Skype I cannot see any image when testing the webcam. The correct audio input cannot be chosen either, it does not even appear in the drop-down box.I've installed the same webcam on a different machine with openSuse 11.2 and it worked out of the box, so I don't think there should be any additional driver required.
