This is the first time I'm trying out chmsee on 11.4 (I've tried on previous version - never had any issues with it).The problem is chmsee fails to start. It gives error as shown below:

I want to connect my OpenSuse 11.3 Distribution with the Internet via WLAN. But i can't open the KNetworkManager. It doesnt respond to my clicks. If I click on the KNetworkManager "Button" it doesen't react.
Result : I can't modify my WLAN-Connection.
trying to use ipmitool during startup to detect certain hardware and run some configuration. This worked fine for me on RHEL 5.4 but only after smartd had started. For some reason I cant get it to work any time before I get a login prompt on RHEL 4.5

View 7 Replies View RelatedThe situation:At my workplace there is a shared printer installed in WINDOWS. It's installed also in my windows system(WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE version 7600). It's working very well. From windows I shared it to have the option for printing from openSuSE 11.3. In Samba I can see the other colleagues connected to the same workplace network. I shared also the printer with Samba.I can see it.
The problem :The printer doesn't work.I can't find a opensuSE11.3 driver for it (Samsung CLX 3170 FN).The question 1:Is it really need a properly driver for it if it installed in windows? The question 2:How can I make printing from openSuSE11.3 with the shared installed in windows server printer? I just installed Opensuse 11.2, and have come across the following error upon bootup: the display manager screen refuses to load, unless I type STARTX at the cli line. the error messages read: failed services in runlevel 5 /etc/init.d/xdm.orig start returned 6 earlyxdm postfix Further, I am unable to activate the xdm service under Yast. Has anyone else run across this error? Not sure how to resolve.

I've installed KDE 4.6.2 (from Index of /repositories/KDE:/Release:/46/openSUSE_11.4) and I've noticed that Strigi fails to work. In my System Settings I have?message that Strigi haven't started, although it should (the checkbox to strart Srtigi is active). The process virtuoso-t is constantly suspended in the system.
OS: OpenSuse 11.4 64 bit. Some bugs are resolved in KDE 4.6.2 compared to 4.6.00, so I would like to stay with KDE 4.6.2.
I have updated GNOME 3 and it no longer works. Having suspected extensions the problem I have manually uninstalled all extensions via command line. This got me to log in instead of the problem screen. However, the desktop is entirely unresponsive, after log in it no longer responds to anything, although the mouse still tracks.

Ironically, VLC now works a treat, when upgrading that in 10.3 killed it.Xine doesn't want to work (restricted format), and Kaffeine isn't playing any files either. Has something been dropped from my previous setup, or do I have an inadequate installation? I'm not very command line oriented I'm afraid;I just expect things to work as they did before...:-)

View 1 Replies View Relatedi've come to replacement my 80 yr old fathers win98 machine with lucidFirefox 3.6.3 says 'connecting to .....' when accessing a webpage (eg his home igoogle page,bbc.co.uk ) and then times out .It all works with opera and links2 and pings are the usual times and its doing DNS . I've added 4.4.4.4 and 8.8.8.8 to /etc/resolv.conf for good measure FF its configured NOT to use a proxy ( Im fed up looking and checking !) and ive tried the 'detect settings automatically'this is a 'mission critical' step. Going to linux is a big enough change , so getting FF working will be a deal-breaker

I am installing in Kubuntu (I cant stand ubuntu anymore) But when i try to use dd to install to a USB, I cant because Ubuntu got rid of the root and when i sudo it, It doesnt seem to work!

I understood that raw1394 and video1394 modules are now deprecated. So firewire_ohci and firewire_core are loaded when I plug in the camera. There is no more /dev/raw1394 and /dev/video-0 streams, but now there are /dev/fw0 and /dev/fw1.
When I run Coriander, I receive: Erreur de segmentation (core dumped)
If I create the following link: ln -s /dev/fw1 /dev/raw1394

eg cd /var/ or cd /opt/
it will skip me up or down the tree to get there but when if go cd /Desktop/or cd /myuseraccount/
is get: bash: cd: /Desktop/: No such file or directory

I have a computer that i wish to install ubuntu 10.04 on, it wont install tho, it tells me that it cant detect the cd rom (the drive it is booting from) and that i should insert a removable device with the drivers on it, except i dont have those and don't know where to get them. i cant boot from a usb but i have a usb with 10.04 on it just incase. i tryed this with both alternate install and desktop. i dont know what to do, i have invested 2 days to try and do this and i would really like to put this on my computer.
I have previously installed 8.04 on my computer with out such error and all of the hardware is the same (even the hard drive), and i lost the 8.04 disk. <(it was a live disk)
I am running xubuntu 11.04 (ISO from early this week). During install, I selected to NOT auto login but to present this gdm panel where I have to enter the password (or other users could log in).
Now I decided to enable auto-login (and to start the screensaver right afterwards) ... so I opened up the "login screen settings" (systems menu), unlocked that window and changed it to "login as xxx".
Then i rebooted and would have expected to be greeted with my screen saver on a logged-in session afterwards. But what happens is that there is a gdm panel sitting ... showing me

my printer is not listed the type of drivers it mentions to download in plug and play.the drivers listed dont come close to the number(465cn).I have a brother mfc-465cnwhere do i find the drivers that will be compatible. generic diver listed didnt work or other numbers listed under the 'brother' or 'mfc' brandI went to the open printer website and my printer isnt listed there either. just brother and some other mfc's but nothing near what my printer is.
