I have this little problem: when I open a folder with images from my network drive, I can't see the previews of the files. If the folder is on the local drive no issues, but with the remote one... no luck.I checked around for a solution, without results.. do you know if there is a solution for this little issue
Just installed openSUSE 11.3 (KDE) and not expert about it yet, I am experiencing two problems.
Skype: just installed 2.1.0.81-suse.i586rpm, starting it I get just the icon jumping on the desktop a bit and nothing else.
If I try with the command line, this is the result:
After that, I dont have preview about stored file images and even online, Google Images does not showing preview, just colored strips; if I go with the mouse on it, the image comes out.
I don't how long is has been happening for (I've just upgraded my old computer, so it is now my faster and better machinig), but Nautilus is failing to create thumbnails for anything other than text files.
I've swapped the settings around to try to trigger changes, but even on "Local only" or "Always" with a 10MB cap then Nautilus won't generate previews for anything other than text files. All images/videos/pdfs/web pages that should have thumbnails generated for them have the "pending" icon but never generate a thumbnail. If, however, I open the file (with Eye of Gnome or Gimp) and refresh the folder then the thumbnail appears for the one file I just opened (so I could go through and preview all images, but I'd really rather not!)
I've tried removing/renaming my .local/share/mime folder in case it was incorrectly handling file types, but that didn't help. I've looked in gconf at the thumbnailer apps, but that appears to be for everything except images. Running "evince-thumbnailer" on its own works fine as well and generates an image. There aren't any related errors in .xsession-errors, and I don't know where else Nautilus logs to (running "nautilus --browser" creates a browser window but then drops back to the command line and doesn't print any output).
I'm using openSUSE 11.2 and the default Gnome, with codecs from Packman. A fairly similar setup on my other machine is thumbnailing perfectly fine.
I am running Opensuse 11.3, KDE 64 bit. I have a nvidia GeForce 9400 GT graphic card.Somehow Dolphin and Firefox cannot show picture preview. It comes out like this; ImageBam - Fast, Free Image Hosting and Photo Sharing ImageBam - Fast, Free Image Hosting and Photo Sharing.
often times when I browse for files from a site nautilus will open up and i can't see a picture preview of the files.this makes choosing photos to upload nearly impossible.
I was following the instructions here: http://www.techdrivein.com/2010/08/g...lementary.html on how to install nautilus elementary and gloobus preview and they dosn't work here is what the terminal says after I'm trying to install nautilus elementary and gloobus preview http://img517.imageshack.us/content_...reenshotxl.png
I want to connect my OpenSuse 11.3 Distribution with the Internet via WLAN. But i can't open the KNetworkManager. It doesnt respond to my clicks. If I click on the KNetworkManager "Button" it doesen't react.
We have recently upgraded to ubuntu 11.04 64bit from 10.04 and 10.10 in a networked office in which our home directories are mounted on a server raid array. Ubuntu considers that the home directory is a local drive rather than on a networkWe have noticed that file preview are very very slow in 11.04 for pdf's and pictures in nautilus, causing a lag of around 10 seconds for each file. This can cause a problem for folders which hold multiple files which can be previewed. Preview worked fine in previous versions of ubuntu on the same machine, with the same network setup. Previewing of actual local files works faster, but is slower on 11.04, than previous versions.
Both the 10.10 and 11.04 systems are up to date with available updates (11.04 - 2.32.2.1 and 2.30.1 on ubuntu 10)Obviously, there is a work around for this problem - turn off preview. But, it would be nice to turn it on as its a useful feature.
After upgrading to gnome 2.28.2 and Nautilus 2.28.4, nautilus leaves text file(including .php .jave etc,.) icon blank while it works well with image and pdf files.
gnomevfs-info asd Name : asd Type : Regular MIME type : application/octet-stream Size : 27433
Not showing "Default app" but automatically opened by gedit. I am sorry but I don't really know what info matters. So tell me what info I should post here.
I have openSUSE 11.3 Gnome installed. The nautilus address bar shows the "Button Bar" and if I press Ctrl+L it swaps to the "Text Location Bar". The Text Location bar is where you see the full path to the directory that you're viewing. But I can't set the default addressing to the Text Location Bar.What else should I do to get the text location bar (i.e. the full path) to be the default view in the address bar?
I have a customer that was raving how he likes windows 7. I asked him what he saw improved over xp, and he could only list the mouse hover preview of tasks in taskbar and media player could show all songs with word black in title. I am training my 3 and 5 year old on Ubuntu, and they (& wife) cannot grasp the difference between bottom taskbar and top applications menu. Even on my xp machine they freak out (including 10 year old with computer classes) when I minimize their applications to work on my own when they get up from the dining room machine.
And, so I though I would download "Visual tray tip" which mimics the taskbar preview on mouse hover. But on my 6 gig hard drive, p3 650 mhz 1 gig ram living room notebook (mainly flash educational gaming for kids) I really would like such a task bar preview. But upgrading Ubuntu is out of the question, since it is a functioning machine with 211 megs free on drive, and I have no stomach, time, or wish to kill it by an upgrade. So, am wishing for a sudo apt-get install solution.
how can i make grub2 show on startup, at present, it boots, shows post screen, then there is a black screen with an underscore (_) then the desktop is there.
I added plugins for emesene 2 from their website, but they doesn't show.. this may be silly but I just copied the files into ~/.config/emesene2/ and ~/.config/emesene2/pluginsEmesene assuming that emesene2 would load them um from these folders on startup but it doesn't and I have no idea what to do to load them and try them.
Im trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 in a friends laptop, but everytime I put in the disc with the ISO it doesnt show the Ubuntu menu with the Installation options etc, it just starts up Windows normally, and when its on Windows it recognizes the disc and a window pops up showing the files within the disc (the ISO) and it doesnt let me install it.
This happened all of a sudden, the System menu has nothing to offer but 'help and support' and 'About GNOME'. I tried restarting X, also removing the theme i was using but did not help.
This has happened in natty more than once. Once the screen gets locked after long periods of no keyboard/mouse activity (all ok for short periods of time), I don't even get back the familiar unlock screen with password.I get a blank screen and then Io a ctrl-alt-f7Is this a known issue in natty? Or is this a gnome bug
Im using FF 3.5.2 and Slackware 12.2. On certain web pages, for instance www.slackware.com, Firefox doesnt display the background image, but instead displays multiple images of the tool bar of Firefox. It doesnt matter if I change the settings to allow third part cookies or if I tell Firefox to get images automatically. When using Konqueror, the web-site(s) appear normal.
Evolution won't show any images no matter what format. This really bugs me as at least 95% of my mail comes with loads of pictures. I'm running Ubuntu 9.10/Karmic Koala, anyone else have this problem with Karmic and solved it?
I'm facing a boring problem and I cant understand why it is happening. Im running Evolution 2.28.3 on Ubuntu 10.04, and all the messages are not showing their images. I already did the following confs:
1) Change proxy to connect "Directly to the internet" 2)In Preferences, "Load images from contacts". 3)I tried the option "Load Images" ou CTRL+I.
In Windows 7 when you hover over an open application in the taskbar, it shows a small image of that application. Is there a way this can be done in Linux?
