Apr 7, 2010Doing a fresh F12 install on a Dell Vostro 430. Machine needs to have 2 Network adapters for our setup.The install seems to go just fine but the on board network adapter doesn't appear to get detected/configured. If I look in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts all I find is ifcfg-eth0 and ifcfg-lo. Looking carefully at ifcfg-eth0 I see it's the second card that I've put in the machine.As a test I removed the second network card and did another fresh install of F12. This time in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts all I have is ifcfg-lo. When I go to system>Administration>Network Device Control I see no network devices displayed.
Is this an issue others have seen with F12 or is it possible my on board network adapter has an issue?BTW I did check the BIOS to be sure that Onboard Lan was enabled and it is.output from "lspci -k " with both cards installed on machine (I only listed Ethernet controllers)

I have a Samsung Galaxy Apollo android phone but Suse won't recognize the phone to download apps. When I have a SD card in the phone it automounts it as "USB imaging interface" and the only option is "download photos with Digikam" and I'm unable to view it the file manager. how can I get the phone to be recognized? I'm using Suse, I still don't know about hardware etc.
Ubuntu :: Connect To Ares And FastTrack?
Jul 27, 2010I've recently read that giFT is dead. Now, this was the only way I knew of to connect to the Ares and FastTrack networks from Ubuntu, and since those networks are still alive and well, I'd like to know if there are some other ways to do so.
Now, before anyone mentions them: I already know about Gnutella and Soulseek. I haven't had any luck with the music I'm looking for on either of those networks - though I know it can be readily found on Ares, and I haven't tried FastTrack. So that is what I'm looking for, not some alternative network.
Ubuntu Installation :: No ./configure Command When Trying To Install Tarball?
Apr 26, 2010I've read a few other threads about installing tarballs and just about all of them mention running the ./configure script. BTW, I'm working on a machine without internet connection and I'm using karmic. I successfully extracted the contents of the tarball and a directory of those contents was created. I navigated into that directory and tried "sudo ./configure" as per some instructions I found on the net, but the result was "bash:./configure: no such file or directory".
I get this same error message when I try "./configure --help | less" Is "./configure" something that is meant to come as part of the OS or do I need to install that separately too!?! when I try to create a keyboard short cut for opening a terminal by using the "keyboard shortcuts" option in system > preferences the setting lists it as "disabled". Is there some way for enabling? I know how to get to a complete screen terminal by using ctrl+alt+f2 but I also want a shortcut for other terminal box which is accessible via the applications area.

Jun 16, 2010I'm trying to use the Boot.Fedoraproject.org (bfo) solution to install Fedora 13.
As soon as boot starts it tries to connect to net0 device which faults.
The point is that net0 seems to be my wlan device whereas the LAN connection is defined as net1.
I'm able to break the sequence (ctl-B), open the LAN connection (ifopen net1) and even 'dhcp net1' which results in an 'OK'. (At this point I'm not sure of the real result as I don't see my IP)
In any case so far I can't follow as I don't know the commands I had to put (set. chain, ...). Neither I know how to return control to the original sequence (if it were possible).

It says you need small ext3-formatted /boot partion and a ext4-formatted root partition. Does this configuration have to be setup before you boot into the live cd? If so, please tell me how to set this up. my pc is pentium d with 2 hard drives. The master hd is has xp, ubuntu8.04, and swap partitions. I would like to use one-half of the slave drive for f13.
Second question. I would like to be able to verify download of fedora-13-i686.iso. I downloaded it to my xp partition and installed Windows MD5summer. Where or how do i get the md5 file for this iso file?

Now I guess I have QT installed and I tried to do the following:
./configure --with-qt-includes=/usr/lib64/qt4/include
but that did not work either.. actually checking further I found that the folder include is missing in usr/lib64/qt4/ !!!!

but from what i have read fedora uses a differnet compiler. I'm trying to install Buddi budget manager and the ./configure command doesnt work, which im guessing is because it doesnt have a configure file? Should I install grub on the Windows hard drive or will Windows hate on me for that? Earlier I tried installing grub on the slave with the Fedora system, but I had trouble configuring Grub in a way that it would understand and I ended up messing up the MBRs of both hard drives.

Jan 21, 2010I'm trying install TACACS+ server version 4.0.4.19 from sources. (OS OpenSUSE 11.2) On the ./configure stage i've got the following error message configure: error: Could not find libwrap. You must first install tcp_wrappers. But libwrap library has installed already. I see this by the output of ls command within /lib directory
# ls /lib | grep wrap
libwrap.so.0
libwrap.so.0.7.6
So i suggested option --with-libwrap=/lib could solve the problem. But it is not. Also i was tried make #export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/lib with no result. The problem is still there.
