Suse 11.3 with KDE 4.4.4
I have a Samsung Galaxy Apollo android phone but Suse won't recognize the phone to download apps. When I have a SD card in the phone it automounts it as "USB imaging interface" and the only option is "download photos with Digikam" and I'm unable to view it the file manager. how can I get the phone to be recognized? I'm using Suse, I still don't know about hardware etc.
Just got my new Samsung Galaxy i9000 phone. When connecting to my laptop with an USB cable, the phone says "USB Connected", but Ubuntu does not see my phone. I am using Ubuntu not yet for a long time
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded to 11.04 Natty Narwhal, and got myself a Samsung Galaxy S2. Tried connecting via USB in order to sync contacts, photos etc. Got the error: "Unable to mount SAMSUNG_Android Error initialising camera: -60: Could not lock the device" Wanted to use the USB storage and USB tethering, so I enabled USB debug mode. So did this on the phone: Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging Ubuntu can't see the phone. Then tried:
Settings > Wireless and Network > Tethering and Portable Hotspot Settings > USB Tethering.
Still no joy. Typing "lsusb" in terminal gives me:

it sees it in lsusb, but nowhere else, so I still can't copy and sync etc. Anyone come across this problem, and if so, how were you able to solve it.
I want to upgrade my Samsung Galaxy Gio S5660 to Gingerbread XXKPA 2.3.3 Firmware. I now have Froyo (Android 2.2) and want to update my Androidsystem to Gingerbread. This can be done in windows with some windowsprogram named Kies, but I only have my Fedora 14 installation on my PC. I now wonder if it is possible to do this firmware upgrade with F14 ?

and can access the storage. when booted into the minimal installation, other usb devices such as usb sticks can be accessed and mounted successfully. what i'm missing from my minimal installation that is preventing the samsung storage from being accessible ?
I would like to download a few (591)images from the Galaxy S phone. Samsung have advised me that to do that I need to place the Galaxy S phone on Mass storage, whivch I can do and plug the phone USB cable to the PC and manually mount the USB. The Galaxy S firmware 2.1-update1 doesn't support automatic mounting! The Galaxy S has an Android platform Kernel version 2.6.29 with root @SE-S604 #2. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 on a AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1700+ with 1G of ram. It's the manual mounting of the USB connection

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a Samsung U5, and although I could drag and drop, it's not as good as syncing. I've tried using both rhythmbox and banshee to sync my music from a playlist. It only happens when I set it to MTP, that both programs tend to crash. If I set it to MCS none of them will even detect the device, but will both work fine as music players. So far, rhythmbox just freezes and won't let me do anything with the device. Banshee only syncs half of the music files and comes up with this error.

I use jpilot on opensuse 11.3 64bit to sync pim data with my Palm Treo 680 via bluetooth. This worked fine until today. Now I get the following error message when I try to sync: Syncing on device bt: Press the HotSync button now dlp_ReadSysInfo error Exiting with status YNC_ERROR_PI_CONNECT Finished.
The last successfull sync was on the 20th October and today is the 24th October. I did not change any settings in jpilot or on my palm device. So I guess there must have been an update of opensuse which causes this error. But I do not now how to look up the updates during this period or how to undo them. Was there an update between the 20th and the 24th Oktober, which might affect either jpilot or bluetooth functionality?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI seem to have problems with connecting a Samsung Galaxy SII to my Fedora 15 using adb. I tried following the Android Developer pages, and numerous other forum posts as well, still wont work. The command "adb devices" gives an empty list, my phone is not recognised. I placed a file called 50-android.rules into /etc/udev/rules.d directory with the following content: SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="04e8", MODE="0666"
I also tried numerous other variants of the same file, none of them worked. I always did an udevadm control --reload-rules after editing the rules file. Can somebody point me to the right direction?
I installed the Galaxy Live Wallpaper for Compiz that was created by ilap, can enable it, and press super + f4 but it does not turn on. No options show under Compiz>live wallpaper>galaxy live wallpaper. Has anyone been able to get the Galaxy Live wallpaper running in 11.04? I had to go into the compiz unity settings to disable the super key from activating the unity launcher shortcuts.

I've up until recently been using Mint on my n210, but as I really liked the look of openSUSE (Gnome) I have changed to 11.3. So far I love the distro, but I am having a little issue - some fn key combinations aren't working (brightness in particular). When in Mint I was able to install a couple of programs made by Voria (from Linux On My Samsung), is there such a program for openSUSE?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got Ubuntu One syncing a single 25MB folder on 4 computers. On one of these computers, the ubuntuone-syncdaemon process constantly pegs the CPU, using from 50-80% long after any sync-able files have been modified and successfully synced. The process is only using 8.9MB of RAM.
Specs:
Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid)
Kernel 2.6.32-24-generic
1000.8 MB RAM
Pentium 4 2.53GHz
Free disk space: 280.9 GB
System monitor shows 56.8% total RAM usage, 15.4% swap file usage.
Audio sync method. "Stretches/squeezes" the audio stream to match the timestamps, the parameter is the maximum samples per second by which the audio is changed. -async 1 is a special case where only the start of the audio stream is corrected without any later correction.Searching the net makes one believe that this command is just some sort of magic.People just put it in the line and it just works. Isn't that nice?
It says nothing about how to change the TIME the audio starts syncing. Like do I want it to start 5 seconds delayed? Or what about 5 seconds sooner?What if the audio gets more out of sync as the video goes on? Can I slip it a little at a time? What? No magic?No one mentions a file that already has badly synced audio.So what -async 1 really does is simply start the audio at the beginning of the file. LIKE AS IF THAT ISN'T STANDARD PROCEDURE?So what is the exact solution to syncing a messed up video? And why can't it just do the proper "timestamp" sync in the first place?No docs, no info and you are left out in the cold.

Have been successfully using a SCX-4824FN MFP for the past 2 years on Opensuse, trouble-free. Now, it no longer prints and am guessing it may have something to do with a recent Opensuse update? Error message states 'cannot create image', which I understand suggests Ghostscript problem, but Ghostscript is loaded and works fine with other HP printers attached to same PC (other forums also suggest Ghostscript may need installing).
Have downgraded to earlier version of Ghostscript but no joy.
I already noticed that others had similar problems with other Samsung scanner / printers. I could not find any solution in any threads (other than going back to 11.2 or buying a printer from a different vendor), so I'll ask again here: I'm running openSuse 11.3 on a 64 bit system.

I am trying to install a driver for my scx4200. Ubuntu found this driver automatically but openSUSE 11.4 (64bit) does not. I have the manufacturers Cd with a Linux folder on it but if I run "autorun" in terminal it says permission denied. I have copied the files to a new folder on my hard drive but do not know how to run "autorun" in terminal with sudo. I switched to openSUSE because Ubuntu 11.4 kept freezing. SUSE does seem much better.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm on a T42 laptop with a Samsung ML-1740 attached on my USB port. I installed the printer with the tool and everything seemingly went okay. Won't print, tho. I read somewhere on fedora's pages (prob the forum) that someone had a similar prob and it was a matter of loading foomatic, whatever that was, then retrying the load. It worked for them. Anyone aware of this?? Or is this a simple fix? I used the recommended driver for ML-1740 listed in the GUI.I have to reboot, I'll try to get a printout from troubleshooting.

It's working very well. From windows I shared it to have the option for printing from openSuSE 11.3. In Samba I can see the other colleagues connected to the same workplace network. I shared also the printer with Samba.I can see it.

I bought a samsung r525 quad core laptop with 6630 1gb video. I returned my samsun I got last week that was a amd dual core with 5370 512 video....
the old laptop performed better then this new one...
The windows score for graphics is 4.0 (old one was 5.1) I checked in display adaptors and it says i have 4250 running ... i also have 6630 on that list .....
what i tryed doing
1- ati drivers searched to see if i can enable the 6630
2- disabled the 4250 in hopes the 6630 would take over
3- ran programs like counter strike / civ 5 and it did not perform as well as the older dual core samsung...
What gives .... the geeksquad and sales staff could not explain this...

I have a Macbook Pro 2,66 Ghz (June 2009) and i also use a Samsung T240HD-Screen. The Mac has a MiniDisplayport und i use a converter to HDMI. I don't get a signal on the external screen. It is displayed in the X-Server-Settings and i can configure it (Resolution, Twinview, Position and so on) but when i go to the GPU-Section all the Information in the section of den T240HD-screen is "unknown". I just finish installing 11.3. Everything works perfectly expect few issues with my display setting. I've installed SUSE on my laptop Acer Aspire 5920G and I got Samsng 226BW as my second display. How can I change the resolution of my Samsung display to 1680*1050? currently set as 1024*768 and I can't change it. Do I need to update my NVIDIA driver? if so how can I do that? finally, If I get this fixed how can I set my Samsung to be the main display?
