View 2 Replies View Relatedjust wondering what others are using to find and find and download new music. I'm also curious to know of other alternatives to Nicotine+, which I've been using for a little while. I've recently found a nice little widget called Seesu, which is great so far. It lets you search up bands and listen to their songs, and you can download the .mp3 for free afterwards if you like it. Anyway, enough of my pseudo-advertising.
What do you all do to find new music? Are torrent clients like Vuze the way to go, or is software like Nicotine+ better suited for the job? Perhaps you prefer the way of sites like Bandcamp, or by downloading from various online music stores. In any event, it'd be interesting to see how you all go about building onto your playlists.
I have ubuntu 8.04 installed on a full disk partition. I've just bought a linux magazine, which came with a CD containing Fedora 12. I want to dual boot or fully install while retaining my music, if at all possible.
I've tried running the Fedora disc and choosing to fill empty space with Fedora, but I get an error informing me that I don't have enough space. Presumably, this is because I have a full disk partition.
Is there a program like Downloader for X aka d4x, that is available that does the same thing? d4x isn't in the repos.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've recently read that giFT is dead. Now, this was the only way I knew of to connect to the Ares and FastTrack networks from Ubuntu, and since those networks are still alive and well, I'd like to know if there are some other ways to do so.
Now, before anyone mentions them: I already know about Gnutella and Soulseek. I haven't had any luck with the music I'm looking for on either of those networks - though I know it can be readily found on Ares, and I haven't tried FastTrack. So that is what I'm looking for, not some alternative network.
im trying to run quake 3 autodownloader on my computer i keep getting an error msg saying File quake3-latest-pk3s.zip not found on server(s).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am one of these macbook users who switched to ubuntu and now slowly tries to get a grip on it.
So to get a little comfortable, I thought it would be nice to have a right mouse click. Well I thought it would be great if I could simulate it on my lower right <Enter> (xev say the keycode is 104). I googled and found mouseemu! And it does exactly this! But it is not working (or at least not for me).
I can edit /etc/default/mouseemu
Code:
RIGHT_CLICK="-right 0 104"
and get no effect on the next start up.
(yet ps -A assures me two mouseemu's are up...)
When I try it on the commandline:
Code:
mouseemu -right 0 104
I get:
Code:
mouseemu: can't open /var/run/mouseemu.pid: Permission denied
magum@comp:~$ open: No such file or directory
No uinput device found! Make sure the uinput module is loaded
or CONFIG_INPUT_UINPUT is compiled into the kernel.
When I try it with "sudo" I get no error message but also no effect.
I am wondering, whether this is possible. Can I change processor architecture type in virtualization software for different virtual machines? Like I want to do some compilation on Intel itanium and I have physically intel xeon CPU.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently running Ubuntu 10.04 with the latest wine repository available. Downloaded the byond client from [URL]. And I am trying to run it with wine in order to play the game on linux (graphical version is only available for windows). View 2 Replies View RelatedI've searched upon numerous links for a "fix" but they are either for older releases of fedora, or, I was able to make appropriate changes to the F12 KDE4 release such as the F11 how to fix pulseaudio and vlc guide in this forum
Problem: In order to get the sound to play on my system I have to go to PulseAudio Device Chooser and select default server, sink, etc. every login. I thought it was suppose to change it "permanently" , getting more specific here, when ever I play music in vlc I tend notice gaps/skips in my music very short skips .5 to 1 second sometimes 2 - 3, just now I was playing music flipping through some tracks then I am greeted with a nasty sound I cannot describe. Does anyone have a proper fix for this? Only result I came upon I have not tried yet was something with hda intel sound card and power settings, which feel will not work anyway
Here is my sound card: Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) Also not to mention, I use to get pop-ups notifying me of pulseaudio device not being to be found and asked to forget this device
I am new to this forum and I have started using Linux from past 1 month.I am unable to install a music player in my Fedora 9.I have googled and try to do it from the respective sites but could not do it.I want to play mp3 format .
What are the steps to be followed for installation any site where I get the player with proper installation steps which works for me?
After installing fedora 10 KDE, i noticed I can't listen to any music with xmms,amarok,xmms2 etc. Nothing works
I updated everything I believe, it just won't play the files period. I get sound from ..... videos tho, so my flashplayer works. Let me know if I need to be more specific. I really would like to get xmms to work.
One of the few things that keeps me hanging onto my Windows partition is the Amazon.com MP3 Downloader. There's a way to download Debian 5, Ubuntu 9.04, OpenSUSE, and Fedora packages, but they've never worked in Debian-based distro's that I've used in the past (Ubuntu, Mint, Crunchbang).Has anyone found a way around this that I haven't found yet?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded my distro to 11.3 and unfortunately now I can't run my favourite NZB downloader (running from wine) Alt.binz. Is there any program GUI based that is user friendly and easy to use on Linux that someone can recommend for me.
View 5 Replies View Relatedhas anyone been successful in using the Amazon MP3 downloader on 11.2? It does no longer work because it wants specific (old) versions of libboost*:
[krienke@bliss:~/tmp] 1001 > /usr/bin/amazonmp3
/usr/bin/amazonmp3: error while loading shared libraries: libboost_filesystem.so.1.36.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[krienke@bliss:~/tmp] 1002 > locate libboost_filesystem
/usr/lib/libboost_filesystem-mt.so
/usr/lib/libboost_filesystem.so
/usr/lib/libboost_filesystem.so.1.39.0
I notified Amazon about this, and they said they do not know if or when there will be a running version of the MP3 downloader available and without it there is no way to download any MP3 from Amazon. They gave me back my money and recommended to buy elsewhere....
Does anyone know if installing the old version of libboost (from 11.1) will work? What else, aside from amazons downloader, does use libboost*? So what app might fail if I install the old version of libboost suitable for the downloader?
i want the different downloader Software list for Debian 6.0

I was able to purchase and download the .amz file from amazon, but my system doesn't know what to do with it. Unfortunately, I can't locate where the downloader executable was installed and don't know how to make a file association.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to download a website which needs login before accessing the rest of it. how I can download it?, I used webhttrack and it didn't help.
View 1 Replies View RelatedTo do this, I would like to recursively download all the pages within the domain, such that their link structure is preserved. This would be tedious to do by hand, however. As it stands, I could probably use wget for this, but I would prefer something more specially designed for site downloading. I have already tried webHTTrack, but found it unsuitable. Perhaps httrack with a particular set of command line parameters would work better?
