I am trying to create a xen vm on CentOs 5.3 using the following config file:

I'm assuming that it can't find a driver for a cdrom - but I am not too sure of that.
I have a PXE/kickstart installation system running ok. I would like to build a custom installation x86_64 .iso with the i386 .rpms removed. Currently I install from the standard x86_64 iso, then go and remove the i386 rpm's with all the attendant problems and impact on docs etc. Has anybody tried this? Is it as simple as just deleting *i386.rpm and then building another .iso from the resultant installation tree?

I have an i5 Thinkpad running Windows 7 64-bit. VT is enabled in the BIOS. I have installed vmware server v 2.0.2 but am unable to install Centos 5.5 x86_64 as a guest OS. The steps that I followed are as follows:1. Created a new VM, specifying RHEL 5 64-bit as the intended guest OS (per vmware documentation - Centos is not available as a selection2. Downloaded all 8 iso files for Centos v5.5 64-bit3. Modified the CD/DVD drive to 'connect at power' and use an iso with the path pointing to the x86_64 iso 1 of 8When I power up the VM, the console window displays 'ISOLINUX 3.11 2005-09-02 Copyright (C) 1994-2005 H. Peter Anvin' and nothing else. The installation splash screen never appears. As a test, I downloaded the first of 7 iso files for the 32-bit version of Centos 5.5 and pointed the CD/DVD drive to that iso. In that case, the installation starts as expected. I would really like to get the 64-bit version installed and running.

I have AllowOverride set to All in the httpd.conf, Apache sees and is reading the .htaccess because I get a 500 Error when I put garbage text in the file. I'm lost now.

Unfortunately I've had no luck with using the default intel driver. It's strange really, you can see the gnome screen for a split second then it turns the display off like it's activating the external monitor or something. If I change the driver to vesa everything is fine.

I installed VMware server on my CentOS 5 machine. I had problems getting that working. Then I installed VMware Workstation. That worked fine. Then I tried using VMware server, but apparently VMware Workstation deleted some of VMware Servers files. So, I uninstalled VMware Workstation. Then I tried to reinstall VMware Server, but rpm complains package VMware-server-2.0.2-203138.x86_64 is already installed
View 3 Replies View RelatedI run many 5.2 virtual machines inside of VMWare ESX3.5 I've updated a couple of test VMs from 5.2 to 5.3. The thing that stands out is that during boot time, the sequence gets to this stage:
device-mapper: dm-raid45: intialized v0.2429 Waiting for driver initialization.
Here it takes about 3 times longer than the previous Centos 5.2 (about 9 seconds instead of 3). Whereas inside a physical box the wait in 5.3 is the same as it was in 5.2

As far as I know there isn't a linux driver for it, so I installed ndiswrapper to use a windows driver instead. The problem is that when I type modprobe ndiswrapper I get "bash: modprobe: command not found" (even as root). I know I'm missing something about modprobe, but I can't find any help on google. Anyway, I installed ndisgtk next, because I thought it would be easier, but when I go to System> Administration> Windows Wireless Drivers I get a message "Unknown error".Do you have any ideas on how I'll make ndiswrapper work?

I have done so by plugging in a Realtec lan card - but can't get the motherboard lan working. Googling tells me the motherboard has a Atheros L1E lan chip - but I have installed several kmod drivers from ELREPO - but still can't get the on-board lan working. So far I have installed:

I contacted DELL to provide me the driver and they said that they do not support Linux on netbook and I have to arrange it myself.

When I type: ls -l /dev/ it does not show up eth0. Same result with ifconfig. When I type lspci | grep net it does show up something like Atheros Communications AR8132 L1 PCI Gigabit .

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've installed the CentOS 5.1 from a CD only yesterday and everything is working fine except Mysql that came from the CD distribution. I have detected that my system has mysql.
[root@onion /]# rpm -qa |grep mysql

[root@onion /]# find . -name mysql
./usr/bin/mysql
./usr/share/mysql
./usr/lib/mysql
However I'm unable to find mysqld, safe_mysqld or mysql_install_db in my filesysytem.
