Fedora Installation :: Select Device Driver To Load ?

Apr 10, 2009

I downloaded the full install of Fedora 10. I burned the DVD and it booted okay. Going through the startup stuff, select language, keyboard, ect and then I choose the dvd as the source of the image. Then I get "no driver found" and gives me the option to choose from a list of drivers or to use a driver disk. I saw something in the forums about someone having the same problem but theirs was a video card issue. On the list of drivers it looks like they are network card drivers. I have no idea what to do. I am using a NVIDIA Geforce FX 5500 if that helps. I also did not verify the iso, though wouldn't it not boot at all if the iso image was broken?

Fedora Installation :: Device Driver To Load ?

Jan 22, 2009

I am totally new to Linux and have a PC here with 128 MB Ram and a 10 GB HDD. It has Windows Millenium installed but I presume this will be wiped during the install process if I so wish.,

I am part way through the install using CD's and have just chosen my required alnguage and then keyboard layout. The next option is asking me to choose what device drivers to load and most appear to be HDD Drivers. I haven't a clue what to choose here?

Fedora Installation :: Reboot And Select Proper Boot Device?

Apr 16, 2010

I tried to install F12 on my new IDE-HDD. The installation completed without any errors. But, when rebooting my PC I got a dark screen with error message: reboot and select proper boot device.

No BIOS boot up issue, since booting up using other hard disk running windows has no problem at all. I have set the hardisk jumper to master/primary, tried to re-install F12 a couples of time, but didn't make any difference.

Ubuntu Installation :: Error - Reboot And Select Proper Device

Jun 14, 2011

I've been trying since ever to install the new ubuntu on my FakeRaid controller and I'm really starting to get frustrated. After restarting, i get the message "reboot and select proper device.." So my first tough was that my grub was not installed properly. So i ran the boot_info_script.sh that I found in the forum and here is my output. It says that the boot loader is not installed and my Raid is screwed up. I went look in the BIOS and everything looks fine. Ive put the result.TXT from the script.

CentOS 5 Hardware :: Can't Load NIC Driver?

Oct 6, 2010

I am starting a new line of business for my company, selling IP PBX's, based on Asterisk.I am using the Elastix build, which is based on CentOS 5.5.I just purchased a Shuttle XS35-701,which is an Atom powered box, which draws 40W of power. It looks like it is going to make a great Asterisk appliance. My only problem is that CentOS doesn't recognize my network card.It is a JMicron JME260.JMicron has a "driver" on its web site. There are two versions for Linux: 1.0.5,available as a tar archive, and 1.0.6, in a rar archive. I have downloaded both a tried to install both. I get the same errors on either one.The instructions say to expand the archive, and to change to the proper directory. Then is says to "make install" I have done this multiple times. I get a series of errors:

make[1]]: Entering directory 'usr/src/kernels/2.6.18-194.3.1.el5-x86_64'
CC [m] /root/jme-1.0.6/jme.o
In file included from /root/jme-1.0.6/jme.c:41:[code]....

After I run this, there is no jme.ko. I have no idea why not. I don't know what to do about it. Has anyone installed this JME260 NIC? I just put another NIC in the machine. It is built onto the motherboard, and has no slots to put another one into.

Fedora Installation :: 10 - Get To Select The Intel RAID Driver In The Install Process?

Jan 12, 2009

Installing new Intel server S5000VSA (Sapello) motherboard with RAID 1. Downloaded F10 32 bit DVD and run install. Everything works fine and select Samba and all that. Install completes but on reboot get a blank screen.

I know with Windows one has to load the RAID driver off the Intel driver CD, so guess that is the problem. But how do I do this in Fedora? Question: How do I get to select the Intel RAID driver in the install process? There does not seem to be any place to stop and make this selection. I tried selecting the Red Hat and Suze installs on the Intel configuration assistant but it then reboots and that is it. In Windows it would ask to insert the Intel driver CD but that does not happen. So I am stuck. I loaded Fedora some 3 year ago and like it but then it was not on a RAID setup. I created a VMWare install on my desktop and did the same install options and it works. So the DVD seems fine.

CentOS 5 Networking :: R8168 Driver Fails To Load

I have a:

Looks like the r8169 module that gets loaded is not a valid choice for this chipset. The main error that I see is:

r8169: eth0: link down
ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready

I have verified the cable and it's good the windows machine next door is fine using it without packet loss.

The system is a HP Desktop, just CentOS 5.5 loaded on it (base, with no updates).

Fedora Installation :: "no Device To Install To" When Select HD

Mar 26, 2009

I'm installing FC-686 onto a Dell 6300 server with several drives, one 300+gig and about 5 9gig drives. The install disk loads fine but when I select install to HD it tells me that there is no device to install to. Obviously doesn't see the HDs. I have used the internal program to format the HDs, I think I selected RAID 3. I wanted to use all the HD space as my data is not critical requiring RAID 5. Unless someone convinces me otherwise. I did this also because I wanted to maximize disk space. What else to do with 9 gig drives?

Here it takes about 3 times longer than the previous Centos 5.2 (about 9 seconds instead of 3). Whereas inside a physical box the wait in 5.3 is the same as it was in 5.2

Ubuntu :: Reboot And Select Proper Boot Device Or Insert Boot Media In Selected Boot Device And Press A Key

Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key. I got this error after: Reducing my Windows 7 partition by about 100gb. Creating a new partition (100gb) and copying my Ubuntu partition (10gb) to the new partition. After it was copied, and pasted, the original partition was deleted. I now had two partitions a new 100gb Ubuntu partition and a 600gb (or so) Windows 7 partition.

All of this was done using a bootable USB with Ubuntu 10.10 and GParted partition editor. Now when I boot I get the "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key." error.

In the mean time though, since I need my machine working, is there anyway around the issue, or could I even roll back xorg to whatever it was in 10.04 to get the drivers working again?
