CentOS 5 Server :: Mysql.X86_64 V5.0.77 On CentOS 5.3 ERROR 1045 (28000): Access Denied
Oct 21, 2009
This is my first post, I hope I'm the the right place. I installed mysql mysql-server php-mysql perl-DBD-mysql libdbi-dbd-mysql via "yum install -y" on a server running CentOS 5.3 X86_64 The install completes successful with no errors, but once I start mysqld via "chkconfig --level 35 mysqld on" ; "service mysqld start" There are no errors in /var/log/mysqld.log netstat shows mysqld listening on 3306 and localhost is in /etc/hosts
I have been following this guide to install Apache, PHP & mysql - [URL]. When I get up to the step 'mysql -u root' I get given this error: Code: tom@tom-laptop:~$ mysql -u root ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO) How do I overcome this?
for some reason root lost grant privileges and I can't get it back. The user got grant_priv = 'Y' in the usertable. I've tried to reset all the priviliges to the user by killing MySQL process and started up again without grant options with no luck. I've also tried lots of other things but can't seem to get it work. Here is what I get: Quote:
[root@xxxxxxxxx mysqldba]# mysql -p Enter password: Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or g. Your MySQL connection id is 2 Server version: 5.0.77 Source distribution
I am not sure if this is the correct forum to post this as I have usually been able to find the answers from other peoples threads. The error I receive is below.(changed "at" as can't post links)"#1045 - Access denied for user 'root' at 'localhost' (using password: NO)" Not entirely sure what has happened here. I have had this server running for a long time and today it seems to have spat it's dummy out!I have checked the config.inc.php and the controluser and controlpass are entered correctly so the error saying a password is not being usPHP Code:Thisis needed for cookie based authentication to encrypt password incookie
I'm having a hard time to access MySQL from the local or remote shell. If I try to access MySQL, using mysql -u root -pxxxx I get the error 1045 Access denied...
MySQL is running and I can access it, using phpmyadmin.
There must be something blocking shell access. Can anybody confirm and tell me how to check/configure for shell access? I'm using ca preconfigured CenOS from PBX in a flash and it seems they did some security settings - but I can't find any further information. I know I should probably post there, but the Mods didn't activate my account yet. And you know how it is if you try to figure something out. You won't stop.
I need to get an old MySQL Client(4.1)to connect to an even older MySQL Server (3.23).The goal is to do a Java/JDBC connect to the old Linux/MySQL 3.23 database, in order to update text information for a Lucene search (which will also run on linuxdev2). The problem is that I can't connect to the Linux/MySQL 3.23 server from a remote Linux/MySql 4.1 client. I can't connect from JDBC; I can't connect from "mysql":
LOCAL (intranet): mysql -uSOMEUSER -pSOMEPASSWORD mysql => OK REMOTE (from linuxdev2): mysql -uSOMEUSER -pSOMEPASSWORD -hintranet mysql => FAILS: ERROR 1045 (00000): Access denied for user: 'SOMEUSER@linuxdev2' (Using password: YES)
I configure named and stumble upon the following problem: named is serious about user rights, every config file named uses should be named:named. I set rights to named:named as follows, but they get changed to root:named when I restart named as root. The same thing happens with SELinux context. This results in access denied type errors.
I set up a servber on my local machine, & also PHp - Both working fine.I'm trying to load up MYSQL i have installed it, & *can* start/stop the server. however if I do anything else with it, I get this error :-
root@gordon-desktop:~# sudo mysqladmin -u root -h localhost password MYPASSWORD mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)'
1) How do I know MYSQL is actually active ? (apart from the message it says that its statrted (or stopped).
2) Is there a way to
a) Find out the usernames that are recorded on the MYSQL server ? b) set / RESET the 'root' username (I know MYSQL root user is different to PC root user) c) anything else I can do on the PHP / website code to see if MYSQL is working
(as yet, no tables / databases etc have been set up - as I can't get past this error message - I get the same error when setting up a database.)
Ps I did allow my usermname (when logged in to ubuntu) to edit / create files in the /usr/www/ directory (but it is still OWNED by 'root' - that directory)
I've only recently encountered this problem with vsftpd when I was creating new ftp accounts. I keep on getting:
550 Access Denied.
on every action I try to do on ftp, no matter what. I've been trying to solve this myself however my attempts have been futile.
The permissions, and ownership have been checked and rechecked tens of times now, so thats not the issue. I've reinstalled the OS of my server twice now, and the problem is still persisting. Heres my config file, this isnt for anon by the way.
Code: # Example config file /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf # # The default compiled in settings are fairly paranoid. This sample file # loosens things up a bit, to make the ftp daemon more usable. # Please see vsftpd.conf.5 for all compiled in defaults. #
Has anyone seen this? I have attached a screenshot of it to this post.
When I log in using PUTTY, as soon as I enter my username and hit enter I get Access denied, then a prompt for a password and all works well, it just tells me access denied even though it didnt deny me. its weird.
I am getting an access denied when trying to log in via SSH to my home server with putty(windows) over the internet. I can use any user including root and get the same result. If I use my Android phone with the ssh terminal command I am able to successfully log in and use the server.
I recently installed CentOS 5 as my server. I have samba running 100%, today i was working on NFS i had it semi working at one point where i could mount to the shared folder but i could not see any of the files in it, now when ever i try to access it i get, mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting 192.168.1.100:/Server
when client goes to bind to NFS share on remote server - they are getting access denied when using the mount command; [SERVER] - CentOS 5.3 /etc/exports /mnt/data 192.168.5.199(rw) - implying the client I want to have access
I have configured mail server with postfix with dovecot with no encryption: When connecting with Thunderbird imap is working fine. When sending email from another domain to this domain again it is fine. But when I want to send mail from my domain to another it gives me error and this is /var/log/maillog: Quote:Jan 18 18:23:09 srv1 postfix/smtpd: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from unknown[188.8.131.52]: 554 5.7.1 <Recipient email>: Relay access denied; from=<Sender> to=<Recipient email> proto=ESMTP helo=<[127.0.0.1]>
I just configured a complete Cent OS 5.2 system for use as a web server. I can configure Apache and PHP but MySQl seems to be causing some issues -
[mysqld] datadir=/var/lib/mysql socket = /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock user=mysql # Default to using old password format for compatibility with mysql 3.x # clients (those using the mysqlclient10 compatibility package).
I setup mysql v5 on centos, follow all the instruction i was able to google for to enable remote access, I am able to log in to -h localhost and -h (external IP address) from same server, I am able to telnet to 3306 using localhost and external ip address, BUT when I try to connect from deferent server i get host unreachable error H3000 (113) and telnet also is not able to connect via port 3306 I covered all the bases but stii no luck. same setup works for slackware no problem and there is no issue with client.
I have an i5 Thinkpad running Windows 7 64-bit. VT is enabled in the BIOS. I have installed vmware server v 2.0.2 but am unable to install Centos 5.5 x86_64 as a guest OS. The steps that I followed are as follows:1. Created a new VM, specifying RHEL 5 64-bit as the intended guest OS (per vmware documentation - Centos is not available as a selection2. Downloaded all 8 iso files for Centos v5.5 64-bit3. Modified the CD/DVD drive to 'connect at power' and use an iso with the path pointing to the x86_64 iso 1 of 8When I power up the VM, the console window displays 'ISOLINUX 3.11 2005-09-02 Copyright (C) 1994-2005 H. Peter Anvin' and nothing else. The installation splash screen never appears. As a test, I downloaded the first of 7 iso files for the 32-bit version of Centos 5.5 and pointed the CD/DVD drive to that iso. In that case, the installation starts as expected. I would really like to get the 64-bit version installed and running.
I follow instruction on how to install ISPConfig2 in CentOS 5.3. CentOS 5.3 ISPConfig 2 At part 10. MySQL(5.0), I stuck with an error. Said that "Host is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server. What is the problem? Why not allowed?
I tried to install php from source file on centos server and i got the error as # ./configure --with-apxs2=/usr/local/packages/apache/bin/apxs --with-mysql --prefix=/usr/local/packages/apache/php --enable-force-cgi-redirect --disable-cgi --with-zlib --with-gettext --with-gdbm
