Just updated Meerkat - and the alsa-utils update did not go well. Aptitude reported an error trying to config. Anybody else with this problem? Workarounds or do we wait for a few days till the maintainers fix it?

I dont have alsa-utils.... when i go to /etc/init.d/ i only see alsa-store & alsa-restore. nothing else.. (this is on the MSI GX740 laptop)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI ran a yum update this morning on my Fedora 10 box (i386), which updated the 'nfs-utils' package from 1.1.4-4.fc10 to 1.1.4-6.fc10. Before the update I was able to connect to the fedora NFS exports just fine from my Macbook Pro running latest version of Leopard on a simple home network. After the update, when I try to connect to the NFS export it waits for a while at leopard's "Connecting to Server" dialog box, and after about a minute I get a message saying "Could not connect to the server because the name or password is not correct" (though my UID's are the same on both systems). My /etc/exports and /etc/sysconfig/nfs files were unchanged by the update. I tried restarting the nfs services as well as shutting down iptables and setting SELinux to permissive, etc. with no success.
I get the following in /var/log/messages (192.168.1.102 is the address of my macbook):
I was able to download the RPM for the older version of nfs-utils and then do a 'yum localinstall' to revert to the older version. This fixed my issues completely and my setup works as it did before. However I am curious to know why the latest version of nfs-utils breaks my setup, and whether it is a problem with my setup or if I should just wait for the next version to come out and see if the same thing happens.
Here is my /etc/exports file. If I understand this correctly it should allow connections from anyone with an IP address on my local network.

I'm using SBo script to compile gnucash, with all the listed dependencies built successfully (in orderly manner). System multilib is configured as per alien's wiki. Is there something else I'm missing here?
Im using ubuntu 9.10 distro.i downloaded pdftohtml_0.36.13_i386.deb package from ubuntu official site and tried to install it .but it showed the below error message

Last time my sound wasn't working, I was directed to this thread. The script from this thread might work again, but if it will just be erased after every update, I'd like something a bit more permanent.

I have recently been forced to do a hardware upgrade (my previous mobo died). Now, sounds works ok with,amarok because kde has recognized the new hardware and switched to it.
..... does not work, likely because flash uses alsa-oss which is probably not configured automatically. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both alsa-oss and flash, but it didn't solve the problem.

GUI audio players like Rhythmbox and Totem work just fine. I believe all of the audio on my computer depends on alsa. Another command that works just fine is aplay, aplay -q /usr/lib/openoffice/basis3.1/share/gallery/sounds/cow.wav
and aplay definitely uses alsa. My only other clue is, when I shut the machine down, one of the messages printed to the console during shutdown was something about /etc/default/timidity. Timidity is something that converts MIDI to WAV, and it may have nothing to do with my mpg123 problem. I am running Debian Lenny. How can I troubleshoot mpg123? Or would it be likely to help if I simply uninstall and reinstall mpg123? That might be easier than troubleshooting.

I have a fresh install of Kubuntu 11.04 and I already have the lastest ecryptfs-utils installed. I have the ".Private" folder but not the "Private" folder.
When I try to set it up I get this error:

On two Centos5 servers, yum gives a segmentation fault error when trying 'yum update' or 'yum check-update' after running 'yum clean' :

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter years with debian stable I'm testing debian...testing (stretch) in a separate partition. I'm just using the stretch repositories and nothing else, so that I won't mess up the system by pulling packages from different branches.
Unfortunately ecryptfs-utils is not (yet) available on stretch. Is there any safe way to use this package on my debian stretch, preferably the stable package from jessie?
How long it will take for this package to reach stretch from unstable?
I'm looking for sm-notify, which should be part of nfs-utils, but isn't.
I need this for NFS over TCP failover. Where can i find it?
