Ubuntu Networking :: E: Couldn't Find Package Ndiswrapper-utils-1.9

Jan 5, 2010

just loaded 9.10 and trying to install the NDIS wrapper so I can use my USB wirless adaptor. Executed the command

sudo apt-get install ndiswrapper-utils-1.9 as read in one of the forums and received the following error:

E: couldn't find package ndiswrapper-utils-1.9

both the tar version and the unzippedversion are on my desktop but I'm not sure they are installed and I don't know what to install. I've clicked every file in every folder most seem to be instructions not what I know as executables.

Ubuntu Networking :: E: Couldn't Find Package B43-fwcutter

Mar 6, 2010

I did a full install of 9.10 on my Dell Inspirion 1200 laptop & use a Dell 1350 card, after several posts and replies I went to [URL]and followed the instructions for Ubuntu/Debian. This is the result I get....

mike@mike-laptop:~$ sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter
[sudo] password for mike:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree

[code]....

I followed this procedure before installation (live CD) and it successfully found and installed the firmware. Apparently it was saved in live CD. What do I need to do?

Ubuntu Installation :: E: Couldn't Find Package Libboost-all?

Feb 20, 2011

Linux noob, and I'm trying to install a little program on my rootserver, but it requires libboost and libboost-dev. Unfortunately ubuntu can't seem to find the packages and google does not help either. The only info I found was telling me to install "gnuradio" or something, which takes up 138 mb. So, how can I install these packages now?also: I cancelled the installation of gnuradio via "CTRL+C", will this cause any problems? Are there some trash files left on the system now?

Ubuntu :: E: Couldn't Find Package Libnet-ssleay-perl

Mar 3, 2010

I've been scratching my head on this one for a while.My level of knowledge of Linux isn't great. I know enough to be dangerous. I'm trying to get Webmin installed to give me an easier web front to Linux. I run the command to get the prereq's.

Quote:

sudo apt-get install perl libnet-ssleay-perl openssl libauthen-pam-perl libpam-runtime libio-pty-perl libmd5-perl
Reading package lists... Done

[code]....

So I can see that it can't find libnet-ssleay-perl I bit of searching around leads me to the sources.list file which tells apt-get where to get the packages I think. This is as follows.

Quote:

#
# deb cdrom:[Ubuntu-Server 8.04 _Hardy Heron_ - Release amd64 (20080423.2)]/ hardy main restricted
#deb cdrom:[Ubuntu-Server 8.04 _Hardy Heron_ - Release amd64 (20080423.2)]/ hardy main restricted

Ubuntu Networking :: Error "Ndiswrapper (iw_get_scan:1234): Couldn't Allocate Memoery"

Jan 2, 2011

I got rid of windows 7 and installed Ubuntu 10.04. That was a bad move because I got it to work before without too much difficulty. However this time I could not get the wireless to work. I tried the trouble shouting guide here but still keep getting the same error message: ndiswrapper (iw_get_scan:1234): couldn't allocate memoery. I know I have installed ndiswrapper and the windows XP driver correctly. And they used to work in Ubuntu 9 before I changed to Windows 7. I tried google for that error message but it seems nobody had that particular problem. The wireless adapter I am using is airnet AWU154.

Ubuntu Servers :: "E: Couldn't Find Package-headers-2.6.31-21-server"?

Jul 29, 2010

I'm trying to install some nvidia drivers but I need to install the correct headers. uname -r says: 2.6.31-21-serverbut I can't find the headers anywhere to install. 2.6.31-21 and 2.6.31-21-generic are installed but not the server version. It's not showing up in synaptic and using apt-get I get the error message in the title.I have 2.6.31-22-server headers but for some reason when I boot into 2.6.31-22 the OS can't see my 3ware cards and, obviously, the arrays they control. So, I can't use 2.6.31-22 yet.

SUSE / Novell :: Bluez-utils Package Does Not Seem To Be Available From The Official 11.2 Repo?

Mar 26, 2010

I used to share my internet connection for my palm via bluetooth dund on opensuse 10.1. Now I upgraded to opensuse 11.2, and have been trying to configure the same for 5 hours, without success. The problem is: dund seems to be in bluez-utils, but this package does not seem to be available from the official opensuse 11.2 repo. It is available from an unofficial one, but that is version 3.x and it conflicts with the version 4.x package of bluez. So, I either have bluez 4.x or bluez-utils 3.x, whilst I would need both.

Is there a solution for this problem, or any other way to share internet via bluetooth? (All previous howtos seem to be rendered useless with the recent "developments" of bluez, but, hey, file sending to my palm still works to some extent, so, there is much room for more "developments" until bluetooth is rendered completely unuseable).

Edit: In a changelog at a RedHat site, I found that the bluez-utils package was integrated into the bluez package, and later some tools like dund were split out into a bluez-compat package. Maybe the same happened to bluez in opensuse, too. But I have both the bluez and the bluez-compat packages installed, and hcid and sdpd are nowhere. Where did they disappear during the very important re-organization of bluez tools?

Edit2: Kind of solved. Hcid was renamed to bluetoothd, and probably the other tools and config files changed names, too. Old howto's are in fact useless, and I am about to sacrifize my next days in order to become a blootooth expert just to configure this wrecked internet sharing.
