CentOS 5 :: Nfs-utils Doesn't Provide Sm-notify?
Nov 6, 2009I'm looking for sm-notify, which should be part of nfs-utils, but isn't.
I need this for NFS over TCP failover. Where can i find it?

I am building a replacement mail server and need to get cyrus-imap running on this machine. That package requires the db4-utils package, and yum blows up trying to install it as follows:
Resolving Dependencies
--> Running transaction check
---> Package db4-utils.i386 0:4.3.29-10.el5 set to be updated
--> Processing Dependency: db4 = 4.3.29-10.el5 for package: db4-utils

Ubuntu LTS 8.04 + DHCP. Works fine except for fixed addresses. I mean all devices which need to get fixed IP according to their MACs don't get them and keep to receive random IPs from the range (although almost everytime all machines receive the same IP they got from DHCP for the first time).
The following config was created by Webmin interface.
At the one of the ubuntu forums i was advised to carry host description out of the subnet description.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with mediatomb. I installed it from official ubuntu repo and when someone is trying to get some audio files via UPnP there are visible only namefiles istead of title from tags. It strange because MediaTomb provides album covers from tags, but no album, genre or title. How do I configure that ? MediaTomb from repo has taglib support but no id3lib.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI found a strange problem when I use gdb in eclipse to debug. When I step in the program, the register RIP(I'm using x86_64 machine and that's EIP in 32 bit mode) shows correctly but the line stepping in the source code may be far from the correct line. For example, when there is no loop in the source code, the RIP keeps on increasing and the current instruction pointer goes back to several lines back. I'm sure the source code is the right one because I when I checked the memory and local variables after several lines the values are all correct. The source code has many empty lines and does it matters with GDB?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was expecting that notify-OSD bubbles behavior to bring the app displaying the notification, when you click on them. But in my case, when the mouse pointer enters the bubble, it fades out a little, and when I click on it, nothing happens.
Is that normal? Why doesn't a click bring the related app to front?
I want to install the Empathy on my CentOS. And I configured, then I got a resposes:
checking gnome-doc-utils >= 0.17.3... no
configure: error: gnome-doc-utils >= 0.17.3 not found
But when I run "yum install gnome-doc-utils"
The system respond:
[root@localhost ~]# yum install gnome-doc-utils
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
Setting up Install Process
Package gnome-doc-utils-0.8.0-2.fc6.noarch already installed and latest version
Nothing to do
what is this, and more importantly, how do I fix it?

I am using KNetworkmanager-vpnc to VPN back to the office from home, the vpn connection works fine - for 15 minutes then I am disconnected. I am fairly certain that this is related to the Phase 1 key lifetime limit. The Knetworkmanager-vpnc GUI does not provide a location to enter this information. I think I found the config file that holds the connection information at /home/<user>/.kde/share/apps/networkmanagement/connections/ I just don't know the proper syntax to put in the file to specify a key life limit. Anyone out there know how to do this? I am using Fedora 14 x64 with knetworkmanager-vpnc 1.0.9-0.28.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have setup two BIND9 servers as slaves for an internal Windows domain. I receive messages in my logs about a Windows server not being the master for the slave domain on BIND. I have placed the allow-notify statement in the global options section of named.conf, as well as setting the IP address in the masters section of the zone. I'm confused as to why I'm still getting this error message.

View 8 Replies View RelatedThis will be a little long (having read Phil's 'how to ask questions' FAQ). I'm trying to get OpenVPN working between my CentOS server and some Windoze laptops running XP. There seems to be plenty of sample
config files available, but to date, none of them have worked for me. Pulling out my trusty Wireshark, I've found some clues,
BACKGROUND:
My local subnet (NAT'ed by my gateway router) is 192.168.52.x. My router has been configured with a conduit (port-forward) for port 1194 (the standard OpenVPN port), which points towards my CentOS server.The CentOS server is .52.112, and the supplicant is .52.110. I have tried the lient both inside and outside my local subnet, with no difference in events or outcomes.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter years with debian stable I'm testing debian...testing (stretch) in a separate partition. I'm just using the stretch repositories and nothing else, so that I won't mess up the system by pulling packages from different branches.
Unfortunately ecryptfs-utils is not (yet) available on stretch. Is there any safe way to use this package on my debian stretch, preferably the stable package from jessie?
How long it will take for this package to reach stretch from unstable?
I have a strange problem with my MINI Ubuntu. I am able to shutdown -h now and restart with power button, as long as I don't install pm-utils. If I install pm-utils, the computer turns of after shutdown -h now, but will not wake up after I press the power button. Light goes on, drives are running, but no BEEP.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a fresh install of Kubuntu 11.04 and I already have the lastest ecryptfs-utils installed. I have the ".Private" folder but not the "Private" folder.
When I try to set it up I get this error:

How do I get my "Private" folder to appear? I don't think I should just be throwing my stuff into ".Private" and I don't want to have to see all the hidden folders all the time either. Should I use the --force argument, and what would that do?

I used to share my internet connection for my palm via bluetooth dund on opensuse 10.1. Now I upgraded to opensuse 11.2, and have been trying to configure the same for 5 hours, without success. The problem is: dund seems to be in bluez-utils, but this package does not seem to be available from the official opensuse 11.2 repo. It is available from an unofficial one, but that is version 3.x and it conflicts with the version 4.x package of bluez. So, I either have bluez 4.x or bluez-utils 3.x, whilst I would need both.
Is there a solution for this problem, or any other way to share internet via bluetooth? (All previous howtos seem to be rendered useless with the recent "developments" of bluez, but, hey, file sending to my palm still works to some extent, so, there is much room for more "developments" until bluetooth is rendered completely unuseable).
Edit: In a changelog at a RedHat site, I found that the bluez-utils package was integrated into the bluez package, and later some tools like dund were split out into a bluez-compat package. Maybe the same happened to bluez in opensuse, too. But I have both the bluez and the bluez-compat packages installed, and hcid and sdpd are nowhere. Where did they disappear during the very important re-organization of bluez tools?
Edit2: Kind of solved. Hcid was renamed to bluetoothd, and probably the other tools and config files changed names, too. Old howto's are in fact useless, and I am about to sacrifize my next days in order to become a blootooth expert just to configure this wrecked internet sharing.
Is there something that blocks cron from running a shutdown command? I'm doing a daily bounce to break an attack (I have thread about that in security forum), but I always end up doing it manually. The cron log shows it being fired off at the right time...but the server never bounces. I thought maybe I just missed it, but there is nothing in messages that shows the server restarting (unlike when i do it manually, you see the start-up logging).
View 2 Replies View RelatedNotify-osd is one of my favorite things about ubuntu but the pop ups last _WAY TOO LONG_. I've been googling for an hour and can't find any way to change it. Is this true? This is literally a big enough deal that I might just un-install it. But, that would be terrible because I think it's a fantastic app if it didn't sit there for five god damn minutes telling me about messages I read five minutes ago...
No, not literally five minutes, so don't respond saying "There's no way its five minutes" or "if it lasts that long something's wrong with your computer". If I really can't change the timing then that's an awful call on the part of the programmers who made it. Who the hell wants an app that can't be adjusted in any way?
I was hoping to have a pop up come up after my rssdler completes, I was hoping for the nice pop ups that Ubuntu for brightness, audio volume, instant messages ect, i think it's called notify but i'm still figuring things out. Is there a way i can write this into my rssdler start up script? or any other script i'm writing?
View 5 Replies View RelatedNo matter what I try, notifications do not appear. The notify-osd program is running (if I check ps) and nothing ever reports an error. I just don't see it, or hear it (does it make a sound?)
I think this might be because of my dual screen setup. I have two screens set up, with the screen on the right lower than the screen on the left so that they match up in real life.
This leaves a dead space above the right hand screen, perhaps its appearing in there? But I have already used notification-preferences to move it to the left (does that even work?) and still nothing. What's up? I rely on notifications to tell me that something's up, since the new "notification area" plugin does not flash and is thus utterly useless on this large screen display (design failure)
