Well, when I run alsaconf, it finds my 82801H and I go on to setting it up, it says it will run, but it doesnt run.

I'm getting silence when trying to record output from pulseaudio on my laptop. This wasn't happening the last time I tried, which, I admit, was almost certainly a previous ubuntu release (I'm on 10.10).
My sound card is an Intel ICH8-family device, supported by the snd_hda_intel module. PulseAudio calls it "Internal Audio Analog Stereo".

I have installed trixbox 2.8.0.3 in Intel MAC mini PC, installation completed successfully. After reboot network card was not detected.
My MAC mini PC comes with nVidia Corporation MCP79 Ethernet card. how to enable Ethernet card with out affecting the tribox. trixbox-2.8.0.3 version comes with Cent OS 5.4. [Moderator edit: s/deducted/detected/]
It gets stuck at the splash screen(the ubuntu logo) However it can boot in failsafe graphics mode and it boots with no problem if my second display is connected. It freezes if I try to change my display settings and it tells me my graphics card is not recognized. I'm using Lucid Lynx. I tried to do a fresh start but grub loads before the ubuntu cd and/or usb drive.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAbout a year ago, I installed ubuntu on my ThinkPad X61, which was running windows. I basically just overwrote the hard drive, assigning one partition to the install. The graphics have always been a little buggy when it comes to 3d rendering or flash. Flash graphics flicker a lot and 3d rendering leaves trails or doesn't show up at all. Is there a way to configure the graphics card? I'm completely unexperienced when it comes to graphics cards and don't know where to start. I don't even know how to access its settings.

Is there a way to boot any current kernel without the nolapic flag on ICH8-based intel T7300 systems? This system works fine with the last 2.26 kernel from FC8, but due to EOL of the security updates I tried to install FC11 and FC10. The first sign of trouble is that their installation only works with acpi=off or nolapic options. As those options disable either fan-control or the second cpu-core I consider them undesirable. Is there a recent correctly working kernel available? Or do I have to downgrade to a distribution that uses a 2.26 kernel?

I'm getting really disappointed here lately - things are getting worse, not better. In my case in particular I have this laptop with supposedly open and supported drivers and they don't work, however, the exact same distributuon on a Dell D830 with a broadcom NIC does. under 8.10 and 9.04 this worked out the box - just logged in, gave the PSK and away we went. I have a problem with compiz and this card, after few weeks suddenly it doesn't work with ubuntu, I always had troubles with this kind of cards, I was always able to solve it by this forum but this time I gave up.
The driver for GM965/GL960 is working perfectly but the compiz effects although they are enabled they are not applied to the desktop environment.

Just did a clean install on a Dell Latitude E6400 of Slackware 13.1 and, for the most part, all is working great. Got wicd installed and wireless came right up, nvidia drivers installed and video is fantastic, but for some reason my wired connection isn't happening. The device is detected, but I can't get an IP.

I have been getting from my wireless adapter. This has been going on for quite some time but only now am I able to see a pattern. The behavior seems to be the following: Start up, connects to network and work fine until I suspend my machine. On wake up, it works again but after a seemingly random amount of time the connection is lost and I can no longer find any networks. Attached is dmesg output after startup and connecting to a wireless network (dmesgAfterConecting.txt) and the same after the connection has been lost (dmesgAfterConnectLost.txt). If I put an Audio CD in my CD-ROM drive, then try to open Sound Juicer, I get an error saying that Sound Juicer cannot find any CD-ROM Drives to read. I can't rip my audio cd.

I don't get an option for HDMI. Here is the interesting part. The sounds work sometimes but not all the times. Most of the time the sound works on the OS default sounds but wont work for movies, streaming and music. I am running pulseaudio. I am new to setting this audio up. The headphones work fine.
