I have installed trixbox 2.8.0.3 in Intel MAC mini PC, installation completed successfully. After reboot network card was not detected.

However, my HTPC running Ubuntu 10.04 (32 bit) with a Zotac ION mainboard can't obtain gigabit speed. I have tested the cables by connecting my laptop and it gets gigabit speed. I also have a desktop computer that obtains gigabit speed in my network, this one with another Nvidia chipset and Linux Mint 11.
I have tried to boot the HTPC with Linux Mint 11 LiveCD, but it fails to get gigabit as well. I have also tried

but it does not succeed in chaingin the speed.
Is there anything I can do to get gigabit speed? I have all my files on the HTPC, so network speed is important!

I'm running an ubuntu maverick server, and I'm having a slight problem with networking. I've only got one ethernet line running into my room, and I've got loads of computers. The server has 2 ethernet ports, one integrated into the motherboard, one on a PCI card that I took from my old server. The on board ethernet never worked on my old server- but I only tried it out post-install, it was hooked up to the card during install (For the record, networking on linux has *never* worked for me if I installed then plugged in the networking stuff after the fact). So I just used the card instead. Transferred the hard drive into a new machine, and lo and behold, it would only work after I transferred in the card from the old one. What I wanted to set up is a basic NAT system, where the network connection is routed through from my server to my main desktop- but when I run ifconfig, my card is not detected, just lo and eth0. How can I fix this?

I just installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix on my MP Mini 1000 and I have run into some troubles.First off, my wireless card doesn't seem to work out of the box. I figured that I would just plug into my router via ethernet and run updates, but then I ran into my next problem.
Nothing happens when I plug in an ethernet cord. I have a desktop running Windows 7 and a jumpdrive, so I can use those to get the files I need, but I don't really know how to fix this issue.I believe my wireless card is a Broadcom 4312, but I am unsure what ethernet card I have. If possible, I would like to just get the ethernet working and then let the restricted drivers manager take care of the rest.
I've installed from the CD the Centos version 5.5. When I try to connect to Internet I can't because I received some errors. Status is "Active" but can't go on the Net. View 4 Replies View RelatedI am installing Linux for the first time right now and I am facing a bit of an issue when it comes to network hardware driver installation. The NIC on my motherboard is a Marvel 88E1111 (computer is very old). During the installation of Debian, I got to a menu which read "No Ethernet card detected. If you know the name of the driver needed by your Ethernet card you can select it from the list", then provides me with said list of driver names.
However, the only driver I could find that came close the NIC I am using was one called just "Marvel", and selecting actually didn't do anything (screen flashes blue and returns me to the same menu). So I continued by selecting the "none of the above" option, and now the new menu reads: "A driver for your hardware is not available. You may need to load drivers from removable media (...)". So I thought I should google for the drivers and see what I can find. The official site of the company that made my NIC doesn't even list my model in their drivers' list (to be expected since it is so old).

I recently installed CentOS on a really old computer and while most things are running well, I am unable to connect to the internet. Using a Damn Small Linux live CD I am able to connect just fine and was able to see that that 'hp100' was being used as the netcard driver. View 9 Replies View RelatedThe Wired Internet adapter isn't working with Ubuntu 10.10, and without this working, I can't get my updates for the Broadcom WLAN adapter. I have a Realtek RTL8101E/8102E PCI-Expredd Fast Ethernet controller. I have looked for solutions, but haven't found any relating to my problem.
To be specific: Ubuntu 10.10 is recognizing the Ethernet adapter as eth0. When I try to manually connect after inserting an Ethernet cable connected to the Internet, it tries for a couple of minutes before telling me the adapter's been disconnected. The connector lights remain the same on the port as they always were.
I got Linux Ubuntu because my Vista installation messed up, and I couldnt find the recovery CD. Im pretty glad I installed Linux, as it seems really freidnly, and a bit more open that Windows, I must admit. The problem is, I am trying to install my Nvidia GeForce 8600GTS on the system, and it isnt working. It was working fine on Vista before, so it shouldnt be a hardware problem. I have followed various instructions on websites, whioch take me throguh some stuff about stopping GNOME, removing * linux restricted module * and so on. But when I get to the crucial point, with the agreements and installations for Nvidia, it tells me it cant detect any graphics cards.

In the broadband connection wizard there is no device detected. I'm on ubuntu 11.04, but on the 10.10 was the same problem.
I just installed Fedora 10 on a brand new machine with an on-board nvidia MCP73 ethernet card. Now, when I initially boot up the box after installation, the card comes up and gets a DHCP address just fine. When I go to edit the network settings (change to static) the NIC dies. Just installed Fedora 14 from the Live CD i686 on my Dell Inspiron 1521. I can't connect to the SpeedTouch 585 on either wireless broadcom card or the wired Ethernet card.
I can connect to it from the same Laptop on the Vista which is on dual boot on the same laptop.
Further confusing is that I ran Fedora 14 and connected to another SpeedTouch today.
Already checked the Channel on the wireless nic and it's on the same one as the SpeedTouch.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an absolutely bizarre hardware issue (concerning the Atheros AR8132 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller) that has been giving me quite a bit of grief for a while, and having completely hit a wall on this one, I'm a reasonably-experienced Linux user of several years, and have been running Ubuntu 9.10 on an Acer AOD250 netbook for several months out. I know that this model has wireless issues out-of-the-box (easily fixed), but it did not have any noticeable ethernet issues. That is, until I attempted an installation of Arch Linux.
During the Arch Linux installation, the ethernet card was initially detected, but unable to be used (because of a bad module in the kernel released with the installer). As I didn't know the fix for this at the time, I decided to reinstall Ubuntu 9.10. This time, however, the system failed to recognize the wired ethernet whatsoever. Instead, the external activity lights for the port (green and orange) are ALWAYS on, yet the device doesn't function.
I have done a successful install of the latest drivers directly from Atheros for the device and have them automatically loading with the kernel during boot, but as the device isn't recognized, the drivers aren't doing any good. Relevant information:

I have a Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5721 network card on my server at work.Everything works fine for a few weeks, then randomly the network connection on the server will stop working. After it stops working, I will try to reconnect with the network manager, it shows a wired connection available, it shows the "connection in progress"animation, then the "connection disabled" icon.
I uninstalled the network manager and used manual configuration, but do you think the network manager was the issue? I can't have the server disconnecting randomly every few weeks with no way to know what the real problem is. Was there an issue with the network manager with 10.04?
