OpenSUSE :: Can't Update 11.3 \ Get A Similar Error Message When Starting Yast Software Management?

I usually run my updates every Friday, my last good update was 4-Mar-2011. I could not update this week and got an error -"PackageKit Error repo-not-available: File '/repodata/repomd.xml' not found on medium http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Tumbleweed:/Raw/openSUSE_Tumbleweed_standard/'"I get a similar error message when starting Yast Software Management. Is this related to the 11.4 release? I can use Ubuntu from my flash drive, but I want to install it in a partition alongside windows. When I try to do this, I come to an 'allocate drive space' window, but whatever I do I get the error message: 'No root file system is defined. Please correct this from the partitioning menu.' I just don't know what this means, or what to do next. I'm loathe to ditch windows, and I don't want to have to use a flashdrive all the time.

OpenSUSE Install :: Storage Subsystem Locked By Application (Y2base)

May 27, 2010

I'm looking forward to using OpenSuse shortly, and hopefully the install is still being performed. I downloaded the GNOME iso and burnt to disc. It was partitioning my win7 drive and creating new partitions. I went to move the YAST screen and that led me to shaking the window (not knowing the screen would disappear).

Now I'm afraid something bad happened. Please tell me I didn't fry my hard drive! At the moment it appears I am running off the cd. I tried to run the Live installer again and got:
The storage subsystem is locked by the application "y2base" (3620).
You must quit that application before you can continue. I cannot tell if the partitioning/installation is still happening.

OpenSUSE :: Package Management: Installing 32bit Stuff On 64bit OS

Aug 18, 2011

I'm having trouble understanding the principles behind OpenSuse package and repository management. Here is a concrete example: I want to install the 32bit version of glibc. (using zypper) Naturally I write 'wp glibc' to see what's available. Output:

[Code]....

I'm looking for the (32bit) tokyocabinet library. I go through all the hoops like I did in the first example. Nothing shows up! How is that possible? Does opensuse really not have this library in any repository? Does that mean I have to install from source? How can I be sure that zypper searches through all repositories?

Fedora :: Getting Error Message While Installing Skype

Nov 12, 2009

I was noticed the below error message when I was installing the SKYPE linux version downloaded from the official web site of SKYPE. Actually I have already installed the QT4 with the highest version correctly even I can used the QT UI for programming now. But still I faced the problem of lack of libraries afterwards.

[root@IT60 LinuxSoftware]# rpm -ivh skype*.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
qt4-x11 >= 4.2 is needed by skype-2.1.0.47-fc10.i586

Bump: The skype is running fine by the below link. [URL]. This version needn't those QT libraries again? It's strange. In before I was using the version called "skype-2.1.0.47-fc10.i586.rpm" that also downloaded from SKYPE official website. But it's not working as I mentioned above.

Fedora :: Leave Message - On Locked Screen ?

Mar 28, 2010

When I first started using Fedora 10 I had a bit of a play with the "Leave Message" button that appears when you lock the screen. After you type the message and click save, the next time the user logged in the messages would pop up.

Ever since Fedora 12, when I leave a test message, after I log in nothing pops up. This happens on two different computers so I don't think its an obscure hardware problem.
