OpenSUSE Install :: Storage Subsystem Locked By Application (Y2base)

I'm looking forward to using OpenSuse shortly, and hopefully the install is still being performed. I downloaded the GNOME iso and burnt to disc. It was partitioning my win7 drive and creating new partitions. I went to move the YAST screen and that led me to shaking the window (not knowing the screen would disappear).
Now I'm afraid something bad happened. Please tell me I didn't fry my hard drive! At the moment it appears I am running off the cd. I tried to run the Live installer again and got:
The storage subsystem is locked by the application "y2base" (3620).
You must quit that application before you can continue. I cannot tell if the partitioning/installation is still happening.

I get the follwing error, since I added a new S-ATA HDD to my server, if trying to open the Yast2 Partitioner:
Fehler
Das Speichersubsystem wird durch eine unbekannte Anwendung gesperrt.
Sie m�ssen diese Anwendung beenden, bevor Sie fortfahren k�nnen.
In Englist this means: Error The storagesubsystem is locked by an unknown application. You have to exit this application before you proceed. Here is the output of /var/log/Yast2/y2log:

i am running openSUSE on virtual box bt when i try to install applications i got

All of a sudden, Dolphin is identifying .xls files as "OLE2 compound document storage (application/x-ole-storage)." I searched for xls in Configure desktop, file associations and it still appears as application-vnd.ms-excel. It does not appear as x-ole-storage.
Other spreadsheets (ods, xlsx) are still identified correctly and open automatically in the proper program. This is a new behavior, and I'm assuming it has to do with something I updated in Yast. I'm using KDE 4.6.2 under 11.4.
As a workaround, I added the .xls extension to the file association for x-ole-storage, which allows Dolphin to open the file automatically, but it still asks me to install software to handle the file type. I answer no and then the file opens in Libre Office.
Before adding .xls to the file association, I tried to get this to happen automatically by going through the open with other application menu and checking always use this application. This had no effect.

I'm trying to install KDE 4,4 on my Netbook, Asus Eee PC 1201n. I've just done a clean install, instlaled my graphics drivers and now trying to upgrade to KDE 4.4. This is the message I get when trying to use the 1Click installer from the OpenSuse site. "System Management is locked by the application with pid 3249"

openSUSE 11.4, 64-bit locked, can't revokeLast night I kept the computer on since some downloads was in progress. I kept the screen locked and the monitor power off (turned off using the power button inbuilt in the monitor). Not many applications were running, it was only Opera browser as I remember.This morning, it didn't wake up when I turned on the monitor. Shouldn't it show up the login screen? I saw only a black screen with white mouse pointer init.I tried clicking, moving the mouse and tried to type the password. Anything didn't work. Finally I did CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE twice and got back to the login screen.

My Canon PowerShot A470 + CHDK can write to SD-cards that are "locked" (the lock switch is used to make the card bootable), but GNU/Linux
`/dev/mmcblk1': Read-only file system
(I'm using "Texas Instrument 5-in-1 Multimedia Card Reader")
So I have to switch that switch on and off again and again. ("unlocked" to write to the card in Linux, "locked" to boot the camera from it).
How to force locked card to be writable in GNU/Linux?

I am unable to update/install and uninstall software because something locked up on me. I'm using Suse 10.3 When i click on install/remove software or try to use updates I get the following error.

System management is locked by the application with pid 2970 (/usr/sbin/packagekitd). Close this application before trying again. Rebooting has no effect and i could probably try opening packagekitd, but still unsure of what to do with it if I did.

I am having a problem with some users who get locked out after more than 3 failed attempts at login. This is exactly what I want to see - they will eventually remember those stronger passwords (maybe?) - but how do I re-enable their access? I haven't tried this on a live box but I can easily recreate the situation via vnc to the server in question and I assume the result would be the same. I like the policy that leads to this but I do need to let them back in - eventually. Where is the blacklist kept and how do I edit/reset it?

I would like to know a way to disable the usb storage capability of the clients computers on a LAN, running opensuse 11.2.
-- I tried the modprobe -r usb-storage , but nothing happend
-- I tried the nousb option when loading the kernel, it worked, but mouse which was connected through usb port was also disabled
-- Also there is no usb-storage.ko driver inside the /lib/modules/2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop/kernel/drivers/usb/storage folder... there isn't the storage folder itself

I hope this post is in the right area of the forum.I am searching for the right operating system and application(s) to build a cloud data storage server business like Backblaze.Backblaze uses Debian but uses their own custom application to manage the data, uploads, accounts, encryption, etc... I am trying to install a file and print server for backup and storage using an opensuse 11.3 live CD but the CD loaded the complete desktop. How do i pare this down to a server install? Do I need to reinstall? I have a mixed network of opensuse, Ubuntu, and Windows 7.

So my aim is to install openSUSEx64 11.3 onto my Macbook; but for whatever reason, upon boot-up, the system won't recognize the USB thumb drive with the expanded image of openSUSE on it. I followed steps in Terminal to expand the image onto the said USB stick and know it worked properly because Terminal said "Process Completed." Do I need a special type of USB thumb drive or am I missing something? I am using a late-2009 Macbook. By the way, these were the steps used to prep the USB thumb stick:
1. Open a Terminal (under Utilities)
2. Run diskutil list to get the current list of devices
3. Insert your flash media
4. Run diskutil list again and determine the device node assigned to your flash media (e.g. /dev/disk2)
5. Run diskutil unmountDisk /dev/diskN
6. Execute sudo dd if=/path/to/downloaded.img of=/dev/diskN bs=1m
7. Run diskutil eject /dev/diskN and remove your flash media when the command completes

This "An Application wants access to the keyring "default", but it is locked. Goes on and I've a few question about the procedure.
The first is how do I determine WHAT application wants access. Seems to me that I need to know what is going on with programs trying to log in.
If I knew what program is needing access, I could determine if I wanted to provide permanent, temporary, or no access.
How can I determine what is happening at startup.

I upgraded to version 11.4 and now I can not install any application. Not YAST or zypper downloaded RPMs.Firefox and Konqueror can not download links that are rpm. I do not understand what happens. Ties other than rpm, if fully discharged. I tried as root and nothing.

I run in some trouble with my isdn card after switching from fedora 10 to fedora 13 (new installation, no upgrade) I made a default installation, after install and reboot/update I noticed that isdn4k-utils is not installed and I installed it manually. For setup of my isdn card I used system-config-network. But activate isdn (load kernel modules) fails, also with /etc/init.d/isdn start There is no isdn device: output cat /proc/net/dev

I got a new hard drive in and decided to do a completely new install of 11.4 64 on my "testing/spare machine:. I have my dual monitors configured properly But I ran into two issues. When doing a manual post install update from the 11.4 updates repo I have one file that will not play happily named cronie. When trying to install the application wspr from the hamradio repo I get the following error for an unsatisfied dependency. I have the same application installed on another 11.4 installation on this system and it didn't choke on this file.

Through YaST's System Services I configured an application to start on boot. However, the application (mediatomb) is using mysql, so it should not be started before mysql. It is however, which means mediatomb fails to start.
How can I make sure mysql is started before mediatomb?

I installed 11.4 and it seems to be working fine. To run few windows application I need WINE. I installed WINE using YAST Software Manager. But when I install application in WINE it's not working correctly. The same application is working fine in MINT/WINE.

I installed Crossover Office Pro (full release) which I used on previous version of opensuse, but now it is installed on opensuse 11.4 64 bits. The installation is fine, but the problems begin when I try to launch the application to install windows software.
I get this output:
