For some reason my Sandisk Cruzer Blade 8GB is not being recognised in Mint 11.It did work for a short period but no longer does so.Is there some command line I can use to search for it ?it simple as I am in the Newby category as far as Linux is concerned.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Sandisk mp3 player. I got it because A - I like Sandisk and B - I know they have better out of box support for Linux than most other manufacturers. It is an 8gb mp3 player with an 8gb micro SD card, so each pieces of media mount independently under - SANDISK - 8gb Media.
Sandisk sits in my desk for a few months, unused, since then I upgrade systems to 9.10, blah blah... not it won't mount. Sure, it'll charge it and all. But the actual device won't mount. I did not check fdisk -l, however, I did check gparted and I never saw the thing get recognized.
the U3 system mounts on dev/sr1 while the rest oi the 8 GB USB drive is usually /dev/sdb or sometimes /dev/sdc.
fdisk will not write to this /dev/sr1 partition

I have an IBM T43; only one HD allowed. It is loaded with Xp on the one HD, and others have and do use it regularly.I have loaded Lenny on Kingston USB flash on this machine without problem (sdb1 root and bootable.) I refuse to allow GRUB to be installed on the HD, tell it to load on /dev/sdb1, it completes and reboots. I then edit GRUB (HD0, 1) to (HD0, 0.) It then boots in fine. Later I edit the Boot entry.
When I attempt to do this with a Toshiba 8Gb Transmemory USB or a SanDisk 8Gb unit it simply restarts and displays a �"Error Loading Operating System" messageI�ve noted on the SanDisk the U3 business and have removed it via the provided tool; it still does not load.In G Parted I�ve noted on the Toshiba a hiddenfile at the beginning of the formatted partition. but can do nothing to remove it.It takes up quite a bit of territory. And, it too will not load.
Ubuntu 10.04 won't recognise my Sandisk Sansa Clip+ as installed on comp. It sees memory sticks and memory cards. Are there drivers that I need to install?? Anything in Synaptic Package Manager that needs to be installed?

I have a IEI IBX 530 unit that uses a flash disk for storage. I used a Transcend 32GB flash disk and installed CentOS 5 successfully on the unit. I now wanted to install a second unit, but am using a SanDisk Extreme IV flash disk. The installation completes successfully, but when the system reboots for the first time after the install is complete, I get an error: "Grub Loading Stage 2. Read Error". This error occurs using CentOS 5.3 and even occurred when trying Fedora 9 and 11.

Blade B returns Linux 2.6.9-89.ELlargesmp to the uname command and fails with the following error: Cannot load /opt/httpd/03/modules/mod_access.so into server: /opt/httpd/03/modules/mod_access.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I have confirmed that the modules are present (actually a symlink to a valid directory) and have the correct permissions. Why can't I get Blade B to start?
I'm using pyqt3 for my app and am lost on even how to attempt this task... On a vinyl cutter to have the blade pivot it must be offset from the center of the shaft it's on so say for example a .25mm offset would leave a .25mm unwanted vinyl attachment when the cutting is done. I somehow have to average or extrapolate that .25mm xy coordinate and add it to the hpgl plot file as a PUx,y; command? I have enclosed a simple sample file that has three images in it. In the corresponding hpgl file everything between the PU commands that are starting with PD are the code for that image (star for eg the pu to move to next image and then all PD for the next image and so on, so once the formula or procedure is figured out it can be applied to as many images there are in the file. Placing the new command at the head of each image PD group. Since there are absolute and relative cutters I enclosed the same exact plot for both types as the coordinates on relative can be negative numbers. Only PU and PD commands and a ";" as a command delimiter as sometimes many commands are on one line.The offset variable will come from a spinbox but .25 is good for an example.

Anybody knows what way to make use all the power of that blade? Or just install it as install on other system? In my point of view, there are two ways I could do: Implement a webservice "server" which accept the incoming request, and then deliver to its "client" webservice. So we would run one instance of server and many instance of client. Other way is just improve the current implementation, accept incoming request and try to use multi-thread as many as possible to maximum the performance of the blade server.

I am able to go through the debian installation process but when the box reboots it does not boot into Debian. I have now gone through the debian install process several times and now it saids there are too many primary partitions. I tried a rescue install but it saids there are no partitions installed on disk? What am I doing wrong? I am curious if I need to pass a specific argument at the command line to boot into silo? I cannot find any relevant guidance online about this problem and I cannot believe I am the only one to stumble here.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got 10.04 installed on my Blade 1000 workstation. Installed 6.06 first and worked my way up as per other postings. See attached cookbooks I wrote. Framebuffer is Elite3D-lite, and I have done the afbinit install. Using Xorg w/ Gnome and other windowing software to eliminate the possibility it is Gnome. From what I understand, Ubuntu does not require a custom X11 conf file like OpenBSD.
Current screen output shows large vertical stripes, where the stripes overlay on top of the GNOME desktop. Inside the stripes are the prior boot screen output of Ubuntu 10.04. When the screen saver kicks in, the Gnome desktop disappears, but the blue 10.04 stays visible. Mouse cursor moves across the screen, under each stripe as it goes.
My knowledge of framebuffers is limited. Would this then imply that the framebuffer is not fully "refreshing"? The screen does not provide full width even though the correct OpenBoot monitor configuration is set. Haven't found any mention of this issue from other Ubuntu/Linuxes Sparc users. Attached the X11 log. Looking at the log, I suspect this will need a custom X11 config file.
Im trying to install CACTI EZ on a HP Proliant Blade 460c G6. But im having problem with detecting the hard disk. CACTI EZ installation has the drivers for this and loads the driver itself. But when it now detects for the drive, it has the error "Drive not Found".Do you have bootable CD (iso image) that can load the drivers for Cent OS 5 for HP Proliant Blade 460c G6 server.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a backup HDD with a different distro for my laptop and i can boot into it via external usb or if swapped into the laptop. This HDD/install in question is debian testing and was working fine, the issue arose suddenly. I was first suspecting a failure of hardware somewhere on the motherboard, but the hdd i was using with an external usb adapter also works when installed into the machine. also, the HDD is recognized once i have booted using the external HDD and distro, but it is not recognized by the bios. so i dunno, my first guess is something became corrupt within the testing install, but i guess its also possible that there is some wrong with the HDD but thats not immediately apparent as all the data is still accessible.
Should also note that the HDD with testing on it is also recognized when connected via the external usb adapter, while booted from alternative distro/HDD.
Also. just tried this, but i can get the testing HDD/disto to boot if connected externally. it was going pretty quick, but there i did catch a line about a corrupt filesystem. any commands to run to see what might be going on?? log files to look at?
I just installed Ubuntu 11.04. The drive was formatted when I installed so it's 100% Ubuntu. The only major problem I have encountered is that Ubuntu will not recognize my SD cards. I really need to access these cards, all my film footage is on there. I think the internal SD card reader (If such a thing exists) would have been deleted during the installation process. I am a greenthumb to Ubuntu and have never used it before so I am rather stuck...

The server have an HP smart array 2200 controller and during installation it can see the controller and disks just fine.
The installation completes up to the point where the system needs to reboot , however after the reboot it does not start up again and get stuck at the message: "Trying to boot from drive c:"
We used the rescue option to mount the installation and cant find nythign wrong, even with the grub setup (except that it points to hd96 as its primary disk). we tried changing this to hd0 as well but still no luck.
After about 3 installations we are still not having any luck.

I have installed the libgd package using apt-get install libgd2-xpm-dev and I also tried recompiling using libgd2-noxpm-dev package but I still get the same error.
I'm using Ubuntu with GNOME and alt+tab for switching windows does not work for me. I checked the system prefs & the keyboard shortcut was correct set.
I even tried changing the key to something else (that doesn't contain alt). It didn't work either. It appears as if the manager didn't recognize the shortcut & the key strokes were passed through to the current application. Rebooting didn't help either. Note that I can do alt+f5, alt+space. alt+f2 didn't work though.
I have been trying to make my USB flash drive mount for a while now going through most of the forums i could find. I've got it working to the point that if i restart with the flash drive in the USB port it will recognize it upon startup, but if i remove it and try to put it back in....nothing. I tried to install Ubuntu UE, while installing due to less space on my pc hard drive i used external USB (400GB) hard disk for file system, i have selected ext4 file system and 100GB space in disk partition menu, after selecting and start to partition option, i remembered that USB hard disk is already contains 300GB of data which is very important. So I canceled the Ubuntu initialization activity with in 10 second.
