Im trying to install CACTI EZ on a HP Proliant Blade 460c G6. But im having problem with detecting the hard disk. CACTI EZ installation has the drivers for this and loads the driver itself. But when it now detects for the drive, it has the error "Drive not Found".Do you have bootable CD (iso image) that can load the drivers for Cent OS 5 for HP Proliant Blade 460c G6 server.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to install centos 5.4 on a older compaq proliant 6500 server with raid it was previously used for windows server 2003 for several years but management wants it turned into a time clock server that will run linux, obviously there is no smart start software for centos on this model, is there some kind of driver needed, be aware that i only did installations on single drive servers and new servers that take centos right away with new raid adapters compaq raid controller 3200.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been asked by my boss to install RHEL 5.4 onto a HP Proliant DL380 G3 which we have here. Now I'm a total linux newbie but can figure my way around most things but this has got me stumped.
I have downloaded the RHEL 5.4 i386 DVD iso and burnt it OK. But when I boot from the CD in the server it doesn't recongise it. I put the DVD into any other server/PC and it boots fine. The server also boots fine from other CDs'DVDs?
Anyway, I thought I would try the boot.iso instead so I burnt this and the DL380 boots fine. I try the default install option, select country/keyboard layout/ select local CDROM as the install type and this is the problem now.
It ejects the boot CD so I put in the RHEL 5.4 DVD and it keeps saying:- the red hat enterprise linux server cd was not found in any of your cdrom drives I have reburnt the DVD and same problem. I have also tried creating a VM with the DVD and this boots and installs fine in VMWare so I know the DVD is good.
I have successfully installed CentOS 5.4, and after choosing it from the GRUB menu, I am getting the following error message:1706-Smart Array Controller Extended BIOS Data Area Memory Corrupted. Int 13h BIOS Cannot Continue - System Halted.I'm using two SAS disks that came along with the server, left the default RAID configuration (1+0) on a P410 controller

Further loading does not go. It is probably connected with RAID a file? On HP it is adjusted hardware SATA RAID1 Embedded. In what a problem?
By way of background: I've been using Linux since kernel 0.97.something_or_the_other, but I've been using one of the other distros. This is my first crack at Redhat/Fedora.
I'm trying to install Fedora 10 on an old Compaq Proliant 3000, dual P-II 450, Compaq Smartarray 3200, plenty of drive space, 3C905 based NIC, original Compaq CD drive.
The install will boot from the CD just fine, I get the initial graphic menu to select whether to do an install, upgrade, etc.
I select option 1 to install and I get what looks like an ncurses based screen that asks me to select a language, another screen that asks for a keyboard, then a screen that asks me if I want to install from CD/DVD, NFS, local drive, etc.
If I select the CD install option, the next screen complains that it can't find a drive and asks me to either select a driver from a list of drivers or to insert a driver disk. Doesn't matter what driver I select, it always snaps immediately back to the screen that says it can't find the hardware to match the driver. Every time it does this, it's not spinning the CD to read the driver that I've selected.
IF I go for an NFS install, after it asks me the network parms I wind up at that same driver screen with the same results, no matter what I pick it throws me back to the can't find hardware/pick a driver screen. As far as I can tell, the NIC is never actually trying to wake up.
I know the hardware is functional because if I boot from from CD with my usual distro it identifies and starts all the hardware just fine, CD, NIC, RAID, etc.
I can see where it might work to have the necessary driver module for the CD on a floppy, but where do I get the module? I tried mounting the .iso images for the install set on another machine but I don't see anything obvious that looks like modules that I can cabbage onto.
I have a proliant dl120 server, with centos 5.4 and I want to monitoring the temperature and fault of the server but the software of hp seems don't work. I have tried to install lm-sensor follow this guide [URL] but the result is:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been loading Red Hat OS 5.5 x86_64 version in HP's Proliant DL 380 G7. One of the Server's after triggering the iLO and setting the Server to the determine the hostname so that, it can check the eth0 settings and then it probes for the video adapter, the screen goes completely blue and the characters that are on the screen at this point are not readable at all..Looks like to me the screen is throwing the system characters completely leaving no trace of what's going on. The screen is blue with those characters and the server is freezing...Looks like a hardware iLO issue, but not sure. When I restarted the server, it picked up the PXE boot and loaded windows upto the serial key and all that loading process was readable.

At the install time it could not detect my DVD-ROM drive so I installed it using FTP hoping that it will make it work after installation but nope. My system is running but I cannot see ant DVD-ROM drive on my system.
It's really critical, I have lots of software to install from DVDs and actually I am relying on a shared DVD-ROM drive from another machine and it's quite slowing me.
I'm installing Centos 5.5 on a HP ProLiant DL180 Server with ~8 TB of hard disk (4 disks that have been pre-RAIDED), from an installation DVD.
Normally when I get to the partitions screen, I would select "remove all partitions etc".
But this gives me an error message "Your boot partition is on a disk using the GPT partition scheme but this machine cannot boot using GPT. This can happen if there is not enough space on your drives for the installation."
Pressed OK, tried the other three partition options but they led to the same outcome.
Tried Advanced storage configuration: Showed that there was one hard drive (c0d0) with ~ 8 TB of space.
I figured I should create a root sector, set one up with 100 MB of space, ext3, set the mount point as /.
Created a software raid of the remaining space.
Trying to go "next" gave me a similar error about GPT partition scheme. Trying various other configurations all gave similar errors about the GPT scheme.
What do I need to do? Some earlier hard format of the disk or something?
I recently built a cluster with Centos 5.3 and nodes that used different versions of the w83627ehf sensors chip. On some nodes sensors-detect detected the chip:

But starting lm_sensors returned the error: Starting lm_sensors: No sensors found!
On other nodes sensors-detect did not detect the chip at all: Found unknown chip with ID 0xb073(logical device B has address 0x290, could be sensors)

I have just done a reinstall of Centos 5.3 on a dedicated server (via a KVM). My partition arrangement was the default presented to me by the installer:
As you can see, I'm using LVM for everything other than /boot (I need to use LVM for an app I am testing).

I have rebooted using the Centos Install Disk 1 and gone in to rescue mode. Rescue mode mounted my / under /mnt/sysimage, from there I could see that /boot had been mounted from /dev/sda1 as it should be.
However, there was no initrd.image or /vmlinuz-2.6.18-128.el5 under /boot or /boot/grub. Shouldn't the CentOS installer have created these?
Is there anyway I can recover this installation?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was having a problem on my squid server whereby 1 website would timeout daily and return a nscd not found error: [url]....There may be other sites but this is the only one I know of. A selection of other sites still work correctly, which is the strange thing.I have found that by restarting the dns cache everything works again: /etc/init.d/nscd restart.I never know quite when this will timeout so it is not very good for people accessing that site on the server.

I forced my workplace to forgo windows and opt for linux for web and mail server. I'm setting up Centos 5.4 on it and I ran into a problem. The server machine is a HP Proliant DL120 G5 (quad core processor, 4GB Ram, two SATA drives, 150GB each attached to the hardware RAID Controller on board). RAID is enabled in the BIOS.I pop in the Centos disk and go through the installation process.
When I get to the stage where I partition my hard drive,it is showing one hard drive, not as traditional sda.but as mapper/ddf1_4035305a86a354a45.I looked around and figured that I need to give Centos the raid drivers. I downloaded it from:

I follow the instructions and download the aarahci-1.4.17015-1.rhel5.i686.dd.gz file and unzipped it using gunzip. Then on another nix system, i do this:
dd if=aarahci-1.4.17015-1.rhel5.i686.dd of=/dev/sdb bs=1440k Note that I am using a usb floppy drive, hence the sdb. After that, during centos setup, i type: linux updates dd
It asks me where the driver is located. I tell it and the installation continues in the graphical mode. But I still get mapper/ddf1_4035305a86.a354a45 as my drive. I tried to continue to install centos on it. It was successfull but when i do a "df -h" it gives me /dev/mapper/ddf1_4035305a86......a354a45p1 as /boot

Well i know why it's giving these, because i set it up that way, but i was hoping it would somehow change to the normal /dev/sda, /dev/sdb. That means that the driver i provided did not work. I have another IBM server (5U) with raid scsi drive and it shows the usual /dev/sda. It also has hardware raid. So i know that there is something wrong with the /dev/mapper/ddf1_4035305a86......a354a45p1 format.
First, is there any way that I can put the aarahci-1.4.17015-1.rhel5.i686.dd (floppy image) on a CD?. I really need to set this up with raid. I know i could simply disable raid in bios and then i would get two normal hard drives sda and sdb. But it has to be a raid setup. Any way to slipstream the driver into the centos dvd? The hp link i provided above, under installation instructions, there are some instructions titled "Important". But I couldn't get it to work.
I have 2 network cards eth0 and eth1, for eth0 i set a manual MACADDR in network scripts. Ok so every time i boot, if the cable is plugged in, my eth0 fails to mount or i don't know.. i get this after bood when i type ifoncifg eth0 (eth0: error fetching interface information:Device not found). So i have to unplug the cable when i boot, then plug it in and do a service network restart.

I was connected remotely using Putty, doing some stuff, and all of the sudden some commands, like "ls" stopped working, giving a "file or command not found" type of message. I restarted the ssh session, only to find out I couldn't log on any more (access denied).
