I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 and I recently installed Fedora 14. The computer has a built in Ethernet card, and I'm not sure about what exactly the card is, but I do know that I have a Wireless USB Netopia IEEE 802.11b (model # SWL-2300U) that worked fine on my XP, but now that I've changed over to Linux I can't seem to find this driver for Linux anywhere!

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a DSL connection attached to a wireless router at home which at the moment working fine on my windows laptop. However I have problems connecting to the internet via my desktop which has fedora on it and TP-Link PCI Wireless card. The connection with the wireless network keeps restarting, disconnecting and reconnecting and when it is connected either no internet or very slow sluggish internet barely loading the webpage title.
I installed Ubuntu and the same problem is happening.Yesterday However everything was working fine even on the desktop.
When I first installed Fedora about 4 days ago I had the same problem but when i restarted the computer everything worked fine. Restarting the machine does not seem to solve the problem now.Please help me diagnose the problem here as it's really hard for me to extend a cable from my desktop to my router. And I need to internet on my Desktop.
I am new to Linux. Just installed Ubuntu 10.04 few days back. The problem I am having is not able to connect to internet. Mine is direct cable connection using CAT5 cable terminted to my ethernet card. and I connect to the net using a dial-up connection. I think other end of the cable is terminated to a common switch.I have tried searching it over net. The only thing I could figure out is that I have to do some configuration on pppoe (am i right?)Are there any commands I have to enter or anything like we used to do in windows?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a dell wireless wlan 1397 mini card with an ethernet 802.3. Now I am trying to connect by a wired connection. Supposedly a have a bcm5784m nic. I have tried to configue the bcm5784m which was shown it to be regonized through fedora 11, i could activate it, and connection still failed. In my driver list on my dell inspiron and studio 1737 the bcm5784m was not checked as a download i needed. What in the hell am I doing wrong. I have searched exhaustively and have found nothing concerning the wire ethernet card or bcm. Supposidly ubuntu does support the dell studio 1737 laptopForgive my spelling. Oh and by the way I am using kubuntu 9.04 jaunty.

I may be too stupid to have this done, or it is just the lack of knowledge.
Here it goes,I have a VPS with a host which runs OpenVZ in LA. I want to create a VPN tunnel to the VPS and tunnel all my internet traffic to the VPS. Can somebody please help me out on the step-by-step?
I was once able to configure the VPS to run OpenVPN and my client pc was able to connect to it, but the internet connection is still thru with my local connection. Did it with a tutorial too. I would also like to ask, The VPS has 512mb of RAM, I was wondering how many clients can it handle at the same time.
I want to configure Internet connection in my linux os but don't know how to do it. In Windows XP the method is quite simple but in linux I know know what to do about, It has been very challenging for me to do it but don't knw how ot do it.This file I have to type at run "RASPPPOE.inf" to get list of available Internet providers.
In windows I do it in this way-
1.First go to My network places ->View network connection->Local area network->Properties->Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)->Install->protocol->Microsoft TCP/IP version 6(select)->Have disk->(then browse to get RASPPPOE.inf file from PPPOE folder)->click OK->select PPP over Ethernet protocol->Click OK->>continue anyway(two times if asked)-> Apply->OK.
2.Then got to run ->Type raspppoe (Enter)->one window will open->select the LAN card (where internet cable is connected)->Click on Query available services->Select Internet provider name and->Click on Create dial up connection.-> Then dial up will be created on Desktop where I enter my username and password to start internet.
I am using both suse linux and scientific linux 4.6. my ether net card is RTL8111/8168B PCI Gigait.In suse i can configure internet and its working fine.
1. How to configure network in scientific linux 4.6 ? which driver should i install ? i don't find any driver corresponding to to this Ethernet card.
2.how to configure epiphany web browser in suse 11.0 ? it is not working.

It doesn't seem to be accepting the essid setting, and it's giving an error for the key setting. Also, I'm noticing an inconsistency in the wireless protocols. The AP claims that it's 802.11g with rates up to 54 Mb/s. But it should be 802.11n. It's an Apple Airport Extreme and the Radio Mode is set to Automatic and displays "802.11a/n-02.11b/g/n" on the Airport Utility. The interface also claims that it's 802.11g, though shows a rate of 300 Mb/s. It's a Belkin "Play" Wireless USB Adapter (F7D4101).
(Note: I'm using ndiswrapper and the WinXP drivers which were installed from the Belkin software.)

I am having trouble finding the wireless network however. My Box has an " Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6250 AGN " wireless network adaptor. From what I can tell, this is supported by this version of linux. I have the adaptor enabled, my image settings as bridged, and the wimax enabled in the removable devices (connected). View 1 Replies View RelatedThe symptom is that NetworkManager repeatedly ask for password to connect to my AP.My AP is secured with WPA-PKI. The problem even happens with Fedora 11 live cd if I'm not quickly configure wireless connection using NetworkManager right after Fedora completes booting up. It means if I promptly configure wireless connection, i'm still able to access Internet. Same thing happens for the first boot of Fedora from hdd. For the second boot or when I dont quickly configure wireless connection when system finished booting up, NetworkManger repeatedly asks for password for AP.
