View 1 RepliesI can not install a driver for device EDUP WU2070. I have a disk with a driver for linux general. I don't know how to compile a makefile. My OS 11.3v doesn't see a device.
But when I run in Live CD mode all drivers install automatically and my WI-FI device work properly.
I am trying to install EDUP 802.11n Wireless USB Install (RTL8188SU) on my recently installed ubuntu platform and I need a driver for it. I downloaded the one from the Realtec website and I got a bunch of files that I have no idea what to do with them. (h[URL]... I am compleatly new at Linux and I have no idea how to install anything. I am pretty nifty with Windows but this is my first time trying Ubuntu and Linux. So can I have some step by step guide to install this. I am good at following clear instructions correctly.
Aditional Info: I tired the hardware thing already or whatever its called and only NVIDIA drivers are there and my USB is not recornized because it needs a driver.
I've installed the Ubuntu 10.04 Server onto a PPC G4 Mac just for the experience of setting up a server. During the installation process Ubuntu couldn't auto-configure my DHCP Network. I'm using the airport card on a wireless network. How can I manually configure the network once Ubuntu is installed.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed 10.3 (after buying it a couple of years ago and letting sit on the shelf) and can't get it to configure my ethernet connection or my wireless card. Yast doesn't include a list of available cards, and the error I get in installation-network setup is that the kernel isn't present. The machine I'm installing this on is a Lenovo, in which there isn't a discrete ethernet card (it's in the motherboard), but my wireless card (a Cisco LINKSYS 802.11G) is a discrete card. Because I'm divorcing Microsoft for a number of valid reasons, I don't have Windows available on that box.
View 4 Replies View RelatedRecently I purchased for few bucks on eBay a wireless network adapter with name "EDUP 802.11N". This thread explains how to setup this device on Ubuntu. I inserted USB wireless adapter on Windows XP and it was recognized as "Realtek RTL8188SU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter". Windows didn't have any problem to install its driver automatically but for Ubuntu I had to give some additional effort.
After that I went on Realtek official site (www.realtek.com.tw) where I found that this device is supported on linux platform, downloaded and compiled linux driver. This driver (kernel module) is for kernels from 2.6.18 ~ 2.6.33. Unzip this file and in "drivers" subfolder there is driver archive (tar.gz).

For several months I was using EDUP adapter with both my laptop that operated on Ubuntu 9.04 exclusively and a desktop that could also boot with XP. Soon after 9.10 was released I updated my laptop and was able to use the adapter to connect to the Net.Recently, I also updated the desktop but also made it exclusively a Linux machine. Unfortunately, I have been unable to get the wireless adapter to work again on the desktop. The OS recognizes the device as wlan0, and lsusb shows:Bus 003 Device 005: 0cde:0008 Z-Com Sitecom Wireless Network Adapter 100G+ WL -125The network manager recognises the availability of the wireless network and attempts to connect. After trying for a while it comes up with a dialog box "Wireless Network Authentication Required" and in response I enter the WPA password but with no success. The behaviour would indicate that I am entering the wrong password but I am not.I have checked it several times and compared with the password that works with the laptop.

It doesn't seem to be accepting the essid setting, and it's giving an error for the key setting. Also, I'm noticing an inconsistency in the wireless protocols. The AP claims that it's 802.11g with rates up to 54 Mb/s. But it should be 802.11n. It's an Apple Airport Extreme and the Radio Mode is set to Automatic and displays "802.11a/n-02.11b/g/n" on the Airport Utility. The interface also claims that it's 802.11g, though shows a rate of 300 Mb/s. It's a Belkin "Play" Wireless USB Adapter (F7D4101).
(Note: I'm using ndiswrapper and the WinXP drivers which were installed from the Belkin software.)

View 1 Replies View Related1. If you are on a laptop check that the network function key is turned on. Mine is on F12 and has a bluish light for ON and reddish light for OFF.
2. Go to System > Administration > Users and Groups > Advanced Settings > User Privileges Check you have relevant permissions for Connecting to Wireless Networks and the Internet. (Also turned my audio on here after much trial)
I discovered these after spending hours following up suggestions on these forums. They might not solve everyone's problems but they will hopefully save some of you from fruitless searching

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to configure a wireless connection from YAST under the Network Settings tool.It doesn't seem to do anything. My USB wifi device is detected in YAST > Hardware and I am using the module it says Hardware is using. It doesn't seem to save the module under YAST> Network Settings> Network Card Setup. Is this tool broken or useless? It seems setting up WiFi should be easier than this. YAST should work shouldn't it?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have several new DELL STUDIO-XPS machines pre-packaged with Win7 onto which we intend to load 10.3 the 2.6.22.5-31-default kernel as a dual boot.
The first test machine however is showing reluctance to reveal its NIC under SuSE. The card in question is a Broadcom Netlink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet with driver version 12.4.0.3 under Windows.
The error message I recieve under SuSE is "Unable to configure network card because kernel device is not present".
ifconfig confirms this showing only the loopback device.
The tg3.ko driver seems to be OK (although I am not sure how to interogate this file for its vesion?). It is listed under /sbin/lsmod and I have attempted a rmmod followed by an insmod but thsi seems to have no effect.
Talk on the net suggests Windows will not 'let go' of the card on a dual boot machine but this seems unlikely and I have attempted the various power down options without success.

I was attempting to configure a wireless card on another computer on my network when it froze during the reboot phase after making settings adjustments. The wired connection is fine, except on that computer that I was making the adjustments from. It won't connect at all. I plugged a friends netbook into the same wired line and it connected. Also there is no wireless signal on any laptops. Mac, Win Linux, don't matter. I tried all the various methods of resetting to default but still when I try to access the router's config page @ http://192.168.2.1 I get the error Code: The server at 192.168.2.1 is taking too long to respond.

I'm trying to configure my network card using the b43 driver. I'm running 10.04.2 on the kernel version 2.6.35-25-generic-pae.
Surprisingly, I was able to connect to my home wireless network using the b43 driver without a problem. The only issue is that it doesn't automatically connect. I have to use the following command in order to get it to work:

After rebooting the system, I still found the ip address is wrong and netmask field is empty, so I have to use ifup command to activate my card manually every time the system starts.
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy wireless home network is not recognized by my network card (RealTek RTL8190 mini PCI). Internet conection works fine with ethernet but ubuntu does not see my wireless network. card (RealTek RTL 8190 ID: 10ec:8190). Have searched this forum but unable to come up with a fix. I was looking for windows XP drivers to use Ndiswrapper but could not find a list of .inf files. My network is OK and works perfectly in windows and with my 2 laptops. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Additional info: install was done within Windows using WUBI to a separate partition on my HDD. I am new to this and thouroughly confused as to the procedure for installing the drivers if they are in fact available."
I am very frustrated in that I would like to use Ubuntu 10.04 but it is useless without internet connectability. I am new to linux and do not understand where to get the appropriate drivers or how to install them. I wish someone would answer this post and either give me a clue what to do or just say "give up" and uninstall ubunutu.
I am running SLED 11 and My Networkcard is Intel PRO/Wireless 5300. In short, it is not there anymore! I mean I was connected and everything and the next time I restarted It could not detect any wireless network. I deleted the wireless network card in hopes that the OS will automatically detect it on startup and set it right but NOPE. When I check the hardware information in YAST, it is listed there and it is also working under Windows.

The computer has Windows 7 installed and everything seems to work fine. The LED on the Ethernetplug is blinking when using Windows, but not when using Linux. Is it due to the Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A)
The step i did:
1) iwlist eth1 scanning

3) invoke firefox ... cannot surf
Do I need to set dhclient? how should I set? DO I need to enable wpa_supplicant?
