I am facing a problem to configure pine. My machine has no global IP, but it is in a LAN. The LAN is connecetd in Internet. The global IP, through which the Internet traffic of the LAN is passed, is known. How can I configure pine to send/receive mail?

probably this is trivial, can't find the right resource thou... i have ISP's provided email address and i configured pine to use ISP's smtp server. Which is all good, but if and when i need to send a big email - i have to wait until file transfers over the network - which is pain. How can i configure pine and sendmail(?) to use local's machine ( centos 5.2) sendmail(?) to be able to give the file to sendmail and continue to work in pine while it's working on actual sending of the file.

I know the mail is still there on the server someplace, because it still appears in Pine's "INBOX" folder. But that is clearly not the same as the "Inbox" folder for that account which appears in Evolution and Outlook Express, which is now empty. How can I configure Evolution to re-access those emails?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Xubuntu 9.04, with LXDE on an old Acer 526iTX. After fiddling around trying to connect it to a Vista machine using a crossover cable, I must have broken the internet (well not the whole internet obviously, just my connection). nm-applet will show the connection as working, but no loading takes place (eg. firefox shows 'connecting to google.com.au..' but nothing happens). Same behaviour whether browsing, pinging or updating by CLI, and over any type of connection (mobile broadband, wifi or ethernet cable). This has persisted over many days, through restarts and deleting and re-creating the connection in nm-applet. I can also rule out a hardware problem as the connections work fine using a live CD.It's no big deal if I have to reinstall (I probably will anyway), but I was wandering if anyone would know the probable cause of this behaviour.

i have a leased line ( speed 2 MB ) which we use to connect to our mail server , oracle ERP etc.. we have a dhcp scope defined as 192.168.100.1-192.168.101.254. with a default gateway as 192.168.100.90 ( which is a cisco router ) we have a pix firewall ( 192.168.100.10 ).. now the gateway passed all the request to firewall..we have an ADSL of 4 MB speed.. ip is 83.*.*.230 from ISP. i have a proxy server ( squid ) eth0 is connected to ISP (83.*.*.230).. eth1 to LAN ( 192.168.100.79 ) now the problem is when i put default gateway to eth1 ie 192.168.100.90 the squid connects to internet via leased line.. if i leave the default gateway field empty on eth1 , the squid connects to internet via ADSL ( which i want ) but the problem is no one on the lan cant ping the squid server ( no connectivity to internet for the whole LAN ) how can i solve this problem? PS : i want squid to connect to internet with ADSL, but if i put gateway on eth1 ie LAN squid goes through leased line which i dont want to happen

Mine is direct cable connection using CAT5 cable terminted to my ethernet card. and I connect to the net using a dial-up connection. I think other end of the cable is terminated to a common switch.I have tried searching it over net. I have a dell wireless wlan 1397 mini card with an ethernet 802.3. Now I am trying to connect by a wired connection. Supposedly a have a bcm5784m nic. I have tried to configue the bcm5784m which was shown it to be regonized through fedora 11, i could activate it, and connection still failed. In my driver list on my dell inspiron and studio 1737 the bcm5784m was not checked as a download i needed. What in the hell am I doing wrong. I have searched exhaustively and have found nothing concerning the wire ethernet card or bcm. Supposidly ubuntu does support the dell studio 1737 laptopForgive my spelling. Oh and by the way I am using kubuntu 9.04 jaunty.

Here it goes,I have a VPS with a host which runs OpenVZ in LA. I want to create a VPN tunnel to the VPS and tunnel all my internet traffic to the VPS. Can somebody please help me out on the step-by-step?
I was once able to configure the VPS to run OpenVPN and my client pc was able to connect to it, but the internet connection is still thru with my local connection. Did it with a tutorial too. I would also like to ask, The VPS has 512mb of RAM, I was wondering how many clients can it handle at the same time.
I want to configure Internet connection in my linux os but don't know how to do it. In Windows XP the method is quite simple but in linux I know know what to do about, It has been very challenging for me to do it but don't knw how ot do it.This file I have to type at run "RASPPPOE.inf" to get list of available Internet providers.
In windows I do it in this way-
1.First go to My network places ->View network connection->Local area network->Properties->Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)->Install->protocol->Microsoft TCP/IP version 6(select)->Have disk->(then browse to get RASPPPOE.inf file from PPPOE folder)->click OK->select PPP over Ethernet protocol->Click OK->>continue anyway(two times if asked)-> Apply->OK.
2.Then got to run ->Type raspppoe (Enter)->one window will open->select the LAN card (where internet cable is connected)->Click on Query available services->Select Internet provider name and->Click on Create dial up connection.-> Then dial up will be created on Desktop where I enter my username and password to start internet.
I am using both suse linux and scientific linux 4.6. my ether net card is RTL8111/8168B PCI Gigait.In suse i can configure internet and its working fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a router Asus RT-n16 where i've connected my EPSON DX5000. I've configured the printer function, adding the printer as AppSocket, adding router IP and port 9100 (socket://Router_IP:9100), but now i can't get the scanner function.
I've installed packages from here[URL].do (iscan) and adding on /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf the line

but it's not working. When i run scanimage -L i get this message:
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different, check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages). The scanner option worked fine when my printer is directly connected at my computer.
I've installed Ubuntu server edition 10.4 to one of my older computers and When I go to install something I get the error message Package could not be found. I'm assuming it's not connected to the internet. It doesn't Show up on my router. I'm trying to install Ubuntu-desktop using the code "sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop.
View 8 Replies View RelatedYesterday I updated my kernel, and then i could not run my wireless card, since I use the broadcom STA driver and there was no update on rpmfusion yet.
I googled and downloaded akmod, and all got fixed after a reboot.
Latter last night, i got an update message in wich, among other updates, was rmpfusion's aforementioned update, I installed it.
After a reboot, I am connected to my network, ifconfig throws normal stuff (default gateway, ip adresses and subnet mask) and i LOOKS like there should be no problem
however I'm unable to connect to any website, or access any remote server via ssh, or ping anything.
Also, i disabled ipv6 in firefox just in case, and it was no use.
I am very new to the wonderful world of Linux and from what I've read about and my limited experience (approx. 3 hrs) I like it; but I'm having one problem that I need to get fixed: I'm dual booting currently with W7 (boo) only because I can't get my internet to stay connected(?) for extended periods of time using F15.
When I first installed F15, everything went smoothly, it asked me for my PW for the wireless internet and it said that it was connected. After I loaded Firefox for the first time, thinking to myself "Awesome, it set itself up completely and is running perfectly) I was let down. On my laptop I have Quickbuttons. Touch sensitive buttons above my F-keys (incase you didn't know what I was referring to. When I connect to the internet, with my wireless card on, I can successfully load 1 internet page. Halfway though the page load, the internet light/button starts to flash repeatedly on/off rapidly. Internet connectivity seems to have stopped at this point as I can not load another internet page or use the chat window any more. If I disconnect from my internet and reconnect, everything works fine for 1 more internet page then back to flashing and no more connectivity.
If I restart using the Windows OS, everything works fine and my desktop is working normally as well, so it must be something with F15. What do I need to do in order to get the internet card to work continuously? What am I missing? Please remember, I'm very new to this and all the troubleshooting web pages that I've found thus far are talking WAY above my head.

im using mandrake linux 2010.0 , and i connected my router cable (dlink) to the computer, and it detects without needing configuration to the 'eth0' and it shows me the ip the dns and gateway, everything ok, but then i go in firefox it says that i couldent connect because theres no internet connection,ive looked at the proxys the firewall, tried to uninstal the eth0, the ppp0 and install then again and still the same,does any one have an idea of what could be?
