I have two linux machines (machine1(rhel client) and machine2 (rhel server)). I am able to login the machine2 from machine1 but I am unable to ping machine1 from machine2. Firewall is stopped in both machine.

I have searched and searched for this but can not find any answers. Why can I not ping Host B from my OpenVPN server?
Client unable to listen to NIS domain server.I have configured an NIS server, which is working fine.I then configured an NIS client to share some like passwd, shadow, etc.By default the client was trying to communicate to the NIS server using the broadcast method..However if I restart the client computer, it fails to communicate or Listen to the domain server. Once I login to the pc, I then check the /etc/yp.conf file and it switched back to the broadcast method.Is there any way that I can make this entry: domain naman.com server station51.naman.com permanent so that even after the reboot it should communicate using the client-server connection rather than the broadcast connection.

I'm comparing a RHEL4 samba server's config to a new RHEL install with a default samba config. On the old one I see that there is a line saying
invalid users = root bin daemon adm sync shutdown halt mail news operator
On the new default install I don't even see where it mentions the invalid users option in the notes. Does it do that by default now or something?
I'm trying to run Debian server in our network. We have SSG5 Juniper Firewall set up to route traffic from our trusted network 192.168.50.0/24 to our DMZ 93.153.125.224/28I can connect / ping all Windows servers which are in DMZ. When I try to connect my Debian server instead of one of the server's static IP I'm unable to connect or ping to it. The server itself is able to connect to internet resolve DNS if I allow connection to our trusted network I'm able to ping or connect to any computer in trusted network but still unable to ping from trusted to DMZ. The SSG5 policy is set up to allow any connection from trust to DMZ and interface is set up to route all traffic.I have tried to trace the ping It'll go through firewall right to the interface needed but then it'll time out as like the server is not connected at all.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two machines on this network, one running Ubuntu and the other running Fedora.
When I'm using the Wireless network on the Ubuntu machine, I cannot ping the Fedora machine. Everything else works. I can browse the net fine.
If I switch over to the Wired Network then I can ping the other machine.
I don't understand why ping doesn't work only over the Wireless. I can ping the router so I'm guessing it's getting blocked by the router but I didn't block ICMP traffic.
I tried asking on IRC and they ran out of ideas too to find out where the problem is.
Tried turning firewall off, i tried port forwarding tcp port 22, but it still doesn't work. Also am unable to ping modem over WAN, i can ping the modem locally though. Tech support claims pinging and ssh is not part of the internet so they wont support it in any way.

So, I have an Virtual Machine running CentOS 5.4. It sits behind a hardware firewall which also does NAT'ing. I've set up plenty of these, so I know for sure the firewall and NAT rules are set up correctly. From the host, I can ping anything in my subnet and the gateway. But I can't ping anything else beyond the gateway. I can perform DNS queries and when I try to ping, it finds the appropriate IP address.But from the outside, I can ping the PUBLIC address (It's a 1 public to 1 private address NAT, not 1 public to multiple private). I've tried it with IPTABLES on and off, with no change.

and when i usint "racoon -F" and try to ping these two laptop , it is not pinging at all. and alse "racoon -F" does not show any ESP and AH.

I can successfully connect to a remote Windows Computer using Terminal Server Client but I cannot save the profile (Fedora 12).This means I have to enter the details every time I wish to connect. I configured openLdap in RHEL5 on virtual achines,everything is working fine, I created a user called ldapuser,in LDAP server and i created a home directory for ldapuser in my LDAP client, now i can able to login to the both Server and client with ldapuser account....
Now here what am expecting is i want to export my server's home directory to the client, i dont want to create home directories manually in the client machine, i googled about that, and it can be done through autofs.....

I have Cisco Switch 2960, and it has been configured with dhcp (from 192.168.43.31 to 192.168.43.) and all my client connected to It. I have a modem and Its IP is 192.168.1.1, I used Fedora Linux system in between Modem and Switch , and made IP forwarding (Only one ethernet port is avaliable in Fedora Linux System), so that I can use the Internet through out the LAN.
