my wireless adapter(WUSB600N) doesn't run when I log in. The driver is loaded on start-up but the green light is not on the adapter. I have to physically disconnect the adapter and plug it back in to get it recognised and it works fine afterwards
View 2 RepliesI have a Linksys wusb600n v.2/rt2870 that Ubuntu isn't dececting ndiswrapper is installed and appears to have taken well to the XP drivers but the card itself is still not being detected. I looked at the Linux drivers for it but i have no idea how to install the tar.tar.something file(i cant even find the ralink site anymore).to rest of the process. I even managed to make my way up to the library to get a couple of books but the latest one was written in 2006. I installed root and tryed a few commands but nothing made sence.

I've got a Linksys WUSB600N wireless adapter which used to work fine with some live versions of linux that I was testing out before moving onto suse... Each time, upon booting using live CDs, I used to copy the driver I had downloaded from:

Then 'make' and get into the driver's os/linux directory to load the driver using 'insmod rt2870sta.ko' Now, upon doing a 'make' and 'make install', followed by the 'insmod rt2870sta.ko', I get the error saying:
insmod: error inserting 'rt2870sta.ko': -1 Invalid module format
I tried doing 'modprobe -rv rt2870sta' and didn't get any error messages. But while doing 'modprobe -v', this error shows up: insmod /lib/modules/2.6.27.7-9-default/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/rt2870sta.ko

Im having another problem with my wireless in Maverick, Im at my wits end with this thing and dont know what to do next. I followed Dev0's from this thread.And now when ever I start my computer I get a notification that says "Linksys C" connected. Then only a few seconds later it says Disconnected and then from then on every few minutes the Password prompt pops up and then I enter my password and then it just keeps going in that cycle until I click cancel.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed Fedora 10 onto my PC, dual booting with XP, and I am fairly new to linux. I have been trying to connect to my wireless network, but cannot even get Fedora to recognise my wireless adapter (Belkin N1 +MIMO). I have tried to follow a few tutorials that go through either the ndiswrapper method or by using native drivers. Because I don't have an internet connection on Fedora, I have to boot into XP to download the files for either ndiswrapper or the native drivers, rather than installing using the terminal.I downloaded the ndiswrapper RPM, and it failed because of an 'unexpected error', and when using the tarball, it could not find the makefile. The native drivers did not install because of unresolved dependencies.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get synergy+ to work on Fedora 12 on start up. I'd like to be able to log into Fedora using my keyboard and mouse through synergy+. I've tried adding the line

/lib/modules/2.6.38-25-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/rt2870/rt2870sta.ko.
How do I get it to use the correct driver? I've attached a screenshot of the module info.
I have a Sparklan WUBR-502GN USB dongle with the RT2870 chip. It has worked, (with a little effort) of previous installs of 9.04, 9.10, 10.04 and 10.10. However it refuses to work in 11.04. I followed the same procedures, (blacklisting, confirming device ID, modifying config.mk and rt_linux.h, sudo make & make install and removing staging/rt2870), outlined in past forum articles and that worked in the previous RCs, but the connection to my home network will not complete. Has something changed in 11.04 that is substantially different from past releases?
P.S. the only thing I haven�t done, since 11.04 was only installed moments before, is do the build essential and headers.
I have problem for emerald and compiz in KDE fedora 11. The problems are:
1. Emerald is not running at startup so I have to type emerald --replace every time I login otherwise I get no windows border.
2. The static application switcher in compiz is not running at startup so I have to go to ccsm and disable then reenable it again otherwise when I point my mouse to the edges of my screen it wont do anything.
I'm needing to have the acer-wmi module running at startup for my wireless card. In ubuntu this is located at /etc/modules and I was wondering where the same file is within Fedora

I've tried the same in a clean install of 10.04, but no connection is made and a prompt comes up every few minutes asking for the password. I've used the included rt2870 driver in 9.10 without problems. My wireless-N network uses WPA2 personal encryption, which has never given me issues. I think lightning may have killed it. It was working fine. Now I cant get it recognized no matter what I do. It also quit working in Win XP where I never had a problem with it because it had its own connection software.

I am very new to Ubuntu and if I could get internet I'm sure I would love it as it appears very speedy! I don't want to resort to reloading Windows just because of this!I've managed to install the RT2870.inf driver for my Belkin wireless adaptor but couldn't install the sys file. 1.Download the linux drivers from this post, its called Ralink_RT3572USB_drv2400.zip
2.Extract them to a directory.
3.Make sure you have build-essential installed on your computer. you can do this by opening a terminal
and typing

4.Now install linux headers so that you can compile the drivers.

5.Now in your terminal goto where you extracted the Ralink_RT3572USB_drv2400 files.

Go here and download the RT3572USB driver [URL] The file you download is called 2009_1222_RT3572_LinuxSTA_V2[1].3.0.0.tar.bz2 expand it with the command "tar xjf 2009_1222_RT3572_LinuxSTA_V2[1].3.0.0.tar.bz2"
open the file os/linux/config.mk and edit the following lines: Change HAS_WPA_SUPPLICANT=n to HAS_WPA_SUPPLICANT=y and Change HAS_NATIVE_WPA_SUPPLICANT_SUPPORT=n to HAS_NATIVE_WPA_SUPPLICANT_SUPPORT=y
Next edit the file common/rtusb_dev_id.c and add the USB ID of the card to it. {USB_DEVICE(0x1737,0x0079)}, /* WUSB600Nv2 */
sudo make
sudo make install
reboot and your done.
If you have added the USB device to any other drivers following other threads you will want to either remove that line and recompile those drivers OR black list those drivers. After doing the above this NIC is working great for me in Ubuntu 9.10 and getting N speeds.
I was wondering if anyone figured out the WUSB600N ver1 with Ubuntu 10.4 yet. It's the chipset rt2870sta which works perfectly on Ubuntu 9.10 after blacklisting the other RT2x modules but following the same steps as I would 9.10 on the new release of Ubuntu won't allow me to connect via wifi at all. I went back to 9.10 for now but was hoping this would be resolved soon.

Considering that to get this card working I had to attempt about four different sets of instructions to get this far, could I have placed the card in a broadcast mode? I've been at this for about three days, and unless I go out an buy another network card (I'm currently connected using it through windows) then I'm going to have to give up on Linux, which I really don't want to

Usually, this is no problem, as I have the driver saved in a .tar file and all I have to do is 'make' and 'make install' and it works. BUT... This time, I tried that, and I get this:

My OS is Linux Xubuntu 11.04 (32 bits) and I'm trying to get Linksys Wusb600n network adapter to work. I followed this post and did all that was written in it... almost. When i came to blacklisting, I blacklisted all drivers that starts with rtx (where x is any digit). Here are lines that I pasted in blacklist.conf:

The problem: I do see all available networks. So I guess... it somehow works. Anyway, problem is that it does not connect successfully to my network. I click on it - it asks my password. I enter it and click 'Connect'. Nothing, except that network icon is started to like spin around (trying to connect, I guess), happens. After few minutes, it asks for password.... again. I enter it and all starts from the beginning. Its like a loop! Note: I don't have any other things installed except linux-firmware-nonfree_1.9_all.deb and, don't know how successfully, but RT3572USB 2.5.0.0.

There was quite a bit of threads about this card, and getting it to work mostly boils down to downloading Ralink's propitiatory driver. The card uses RT2870 chipset, and Ubuntu comes with two drivers that are supposed to support it, neither of which seems to work with WUSB600N. One of the drivers included with Ubuntu detects networks operating on 2.4GHz but fails to connect to them, but does not detect 5GHz networks at all.
I was wondering if anybody knows what is so special with this card that it doesn't work with drivers that are shipped with Ubuntu? The card works nicely with Ralink's driver, but it's a bit annoying to have to recompile it on every kernel update (would be much nicer if it worked with stock drivers).
