Fedora Networking :: Installing The RT2870 Driver In 14?
May 1, 2011
i don't have connection in my compuer write now so i whant to install RT2870 driver but i don't know how i found this tutorials [URL] but i can't install may be i have error in choise package this is my kernel version Linux Ouz3r4 2.6.35.10-74.fc14.i686 #1 SMP Thu Dec 23 16:17:40 UTC 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux i found this driver too [URL] but how to install
I am very new to Ubuntu and if I could get internet I'm sure I would love it as it appears very speedy! I don't want to resort to reloading Windows just because of this!I've managed to install the RT2870.inf driver for my Belkin wireless adaptor but couldn't install the sys file. Hence my adaptor still won't work - well I think this is why but hoping someone can enlighten me step by step.
I'm trying to install the rt2870 driver on my server running Ubuntu Server 8.04. I've installed build-essential, checkinstall, cvs, subversion, git-core, mercurial... After uncompressing the tarball, doing a "sudo make" gives me this output:
I am using a Sparklan WUBR-505N abgn USB dual band stick for the wireless connection on one of my Fedora 12 laptops. I have an Apple Airport Extreme BaseStation that can advertise a 5GHz connection ie it broadcasts two sids... The network manger only see the 'regular' sid and the usb stick only connects in the 2.4GHZ frequencies. Does the rt2870 driver support the 5GHz frequencies? If so how can I force a 5GHz connection?
I've got a sitecom usb wireless adapter that uses the RT2870 chipset.I have got the rt2870sta module and have a ra0 interfaceI can set up a connection in the network tool and it recognises the usb device fine.
my wireless adapter(WUSB600N) doesn't run when I log in. The driver is loaded on start-up but the green light is not on the adapter. I have to physically disconnect the adapter and plug it back in to get it recognised and it works fine afterwards
since the release of the 2.6.32.14-127 kernel a couple of days ago I can't use my wireless adapter (rt2870 based) since there isn't a kmod-rt2870 package released for this kernel.Normaly I found that the kmod package was available the same day as the kernel. Does anyone know why there is such a delay this time? Or if there is a workaround
I have recently installed Fedora 10 onto my PC, dual booting with XP, and I am fairly new to linux. I have been trying to connect to my wireless network, but cannot even get Fedora to recognise my wireless adapter (Belkin N1 +MIMO). I have tried to follow a few tutorials that go through either the ndiswrapper method or by using native drivers. Because I don't have an internet connection on Fedora, I have to boot into XP to download the files for either ndiswrapper or the native drivers, rather than installing using the terminal.I downloaded the ndiswrapper RPM, and it failed because of an 'unexpected error', and when using the tarball, it could not find the makefile. The native drivers did not install because of unresolved dependencies.
I am new to Fedora have not used it in many years. I have zero networking knowledge. I read several threads on getting the RT 2870 USB connection working. But had no joy after install the three rt2870 kmod items from RPMFusion and rebooting. get this first step in networking done right?
I've compiled and installed my rt2870sta.ko and the firmware to the correct locations but my ubuntu 10.10 is loading the one under /lib/modules/2.6.38-25-generic/kernel/drivers/staging/rt2870/rt2870sta.ko. How do I get it to use the correct driver? I've attached a screenshot of the module info.
I have a Sparklan WUBR-502GN USB dongle with the RT2870 chip. It has worked, (with a little effort) of previous installs of 9.04, 9.10, 10.04 and 10.10. However it refuses to work in 11.04. I followed the same procedures, (blacklisting, confirming device ID, modifying config.mk and rt_linux.h, sudo make & make install and removing staging/rt2870), outlined in past forum articles and that worked in the previous RCs, but the connection to my home network will not complete. Has something changed in 11.04 that is substantially different from past releases?
P.S. the only thing I havent done, since 11.04 was only installed moments before, is do the build essential and headers.
Alright yall, I just got my wireless usb device to work on ubuntu 10.10. I did alot of searching and I finally figured it out. this is what I did.
1.Download the linux drivers from this post, its called Ralink_RT3572USB_drv2400.zip
2.Extract them to a directory.
3.Make sure you have build-essential installed on your computer. you can do this by opening a terminal and typing Code: sudo apt-get install build-essential 4.Now install linux headers so that you can compile the drivers. Code: sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r) 5.Now in your terminal goto where you extracted the Ralink_RT3572USB_drv2400 files. once in that directory type
I tried getting a Belkin USB Wireless adapter:N150 to work in a fresh installation of 10.4 with no success. After reading several forum posts I tried both solutions with ndiswrapper and the XP driver and with the Ralink native driver with no luck.
Code: lsusb Bus 005 Device 008: ID 050d:935a Belkin Components Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
I have installed the Fedora 14, and a Dlink usb wireless adapter (DWA-125) with rt2870 chipset, but this one isn't working with my OS.
I typed the lsusb command
Code: Bus 001 Device 006: ID 07d1:3c0d D-Link System DWA-125 Wireless N 150 Adapter(rev.A1) [Ralink RT2870] I downloaded the drivers from YUM, the rt2870 and also kmod-rt2870. I thing that this step is ok.
I typed the dmesg | grep 2870 command
Code: [21421.956342] usbcore: registered new interface driver rt2870 When I open the /proc/modules file, it shows the line bellow rt2870sta 542230 0 - Live 0xffffffffa02fc000
I just installed the Fedora 12 live CD, but the driver for my EnGenius EUB 9801 (rt2870) USB WiFi adapter is not installed. I tried some of the suggestions found on this forum, but since I'm new at Linux I haven't yet been successful with installing the driver.
Does anyone know if the much larger DVD ISO already contains the driver built-in for the rt2870 for Fedora? If so I'm thinking it would be easier (for me) to just download the DVD ISO and re-install FC12 using that to get my WiFi USB adapter working.
Need to install b43 driver to use monitor mode on my card - versions are compatible, I ran Code: sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter As told, but instructions end there. Pressed yes to download and extract firmware. Do I need to activate this driver somehow?
Info on wireless card: Code: tnt@Artemis:~$ lspci -vnn | grep 14e4 0c:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g [14e4:4315] (rev 01) Broadcom STA driver is activated in the hardware drivers manager.
I've been snooping around on the forums for a couple of hours now looking for a straightforward guide to installing custom wireless drivers. I have a new Airlink101 AWLH6075 wireless card (and no ethernet connectivity.) The Linux drivers are the RT2860 Ralink drivers in a .tar, which I have on a different computer.
So -- I'm on Server (command-line only), 64-bit, no working internet. Btw, the wifi card works fine on my alternate boot of Windows. wlan0 (wlan1?) is not detected during installation.
So, I know I need to: 1. mount the usb drive I'm storing the file(s) on 2. put those files in my local Linux directory 3. somehow install them 4. (disable my old ethernet connection?) 5. enable my new wlan0 and set up dhcp and the WEP login.
[Code]...
I would greatly appreciate any help I can get with any of these things. I don't even know how to mount a USB stick in command-line... but obviously the internet connectivity (and thus driver installation) is the major issue here and I can find out most of the other stuff on my own.
I seem to be missing some step(s) for getting an interface to appear in the output of ifconfig and iwconfig for a RT2870 wireless USB 802.11n adapter (made by Panda Wifi). Let me step you through what's I've done thus far.
After plugging the device in, it's low-level identification is as follows (see bold):
root@xps720# lsusb Bus 002 Device 002: ID 046d:0b06 Logitech, Inc. Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 001 Device 003: ID 148f:3070 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT2870 Wireless Adapter Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
I have just installed Ubuntu on an old laptop for a little bit of programming and to gain some familiarity with linux. Im looking forward to getting to know my way around the OS
Unfortunately, the wireless card (for wifi) on this laptop is broken, so instead I have been using a wifi usb dongle on windows. I am having some trouble installing this dongle in ubuntu, i cant find a driver for it!
Its a "MicroNext MN-WD546J 54M Wireless Adapter"

I have my modem connected directly at the moment via LAN, and this works no problem, but id like to get it connected wirelessly
I just recently recieved a Mini CQ10-525DX with a Broadcom 4313 wlan card. when loading ubuntu i notice it says that it supports 4311 4312, so i looked on the broadcom website and they have a newer update with 4313 coverage. I downloaded it but do not know how to install it.
i have windows vista with a broadcom 802.11g network adapter.I dont know much about computers but i would like to know how to install it on the ubunto OS so i can use internet ?
I am using an HP dv6 series laptop. The wireless works fine in Ubuntu 9.10 (must install the Broadcom STA wireless driver). When I try to use Kubuntu 9.10 my computer crashes when I try to install the driver. Is there any particular reason why it works in one and not the other?
I have Dell Wireless N-card 1520 on my Dell Studio 15 laptop. I have installed Ubuntu10.04 in it. My network card was not able to detect wireless connections. I have even installed 'Windows Wireless Driver' using ndiswrapper. I have latest driver for card. But when i click install .inf file , nothing happens or gets installed.
I have a desktop and I just installed ubuntu 10.04 as a dual boot with windows 7. My desktop has a wireless ZEW1642S card. I don't have access to a wired internet connection, but I can use the wireless on my windows 7 fine. It seems like there is no driver for it to work on ubuntu, and since I don't have an internet connection while in ubuntu, it seems I can't update it of course because I need internet to update. My wireless network does NOT have a password if that even means anything for this. I have the exe installer for the driver for it but I don't know how I'm supposed to get the INF file or whatever.
I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 on my Dell Mini 10v and for some reason I just realized that my wired network connection is not working for some reason. And not in windows either. But my wireless works in windows. So I have downloaded the latest Broadcom STA wireless drivers for linux and have tried to follow this tutorial to install it. But when I get to:
make -C /lib/modules/<2.6.xx.xx>/build M=`pwd` clean I can't get it to work. It says:
make: Entering directory '/usr/src/linux-header-2.6.38-8-generic' scripts/Makefile.build:44: /usr/src/linux-header-2.6.38-8-generic/pwd/Makefile: No such file or directory make[1]: *** No rule to make target '/usr/src/linux-header-2.6.38-8-generic
I've just changed from Fedora 8 to Fedora 10 and I'm having trouble installing a special alternative keyboard driver.
I used to be able to put the driver in the xkb/symbols directory, make entries for it in xkb/rules/base.xml and base.lst, and install with the System menu. Now I find that the Gnome tool no longer seems to be using the base files, and my driver doesn't show up.
Does anyone know where Gnome gets its list of drivers from? Alternatively, can I install it by editing a configuration file?
