Fedora Hardware :: Hp Laserjet On F13 Not Working On Network
Sep 6, 2010
I have a hp officejet on my fedora 13 pc. I tried to configure it as a network printer. I disabled selinux and then i opend the door in the firewall.. the printer is seen in the network but when I try to print from a client it says "printer description not available" . I disabled then firewall both on server and on client. then rebooted both. but no luck. the printer is available on the network but it prints only from the server.

My printer is a HP laserjet 4 Plus. It used to work with the gutenprint drivers pretty much since always.I don't know when it broke, because I don't use it that often. I have tried with the generic postscript driver, with the gutenprint driver, with the j4dith driver and with the hplib driver. Basically, what happens is that all jobs never finish processing in the queue. On the other hand cups-pdf still works.

Whenever I send a document to print on my USB Printer, as mentioned in title, it just sits and waits and after a minute or so the hp-toolbox resturns this error.
Status: Printer queue stopped Code: 700
Status: Device Communication Error Code: 5012
I know my printer is OK since I print with it on my Windows machine.

I just installed Ubuntu 10.04, 32 bit, yesterday on my Dell Latitude 6500E and I am new to Linux. I can't find my HP LaserJet 3015 on my home network, even though it is connected to a new Windows 7, 64 bit PC thru USB. The other Windows PCs find it fine, and all 4 PCs can see each other on the network. So, I installed the HP software (http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web...all/index.html) and that went smoothly, but the printer is still invisible. I also added Samba and that works great like everything else. I plugged the printer in directly to my Ubuntu laptop's USB port and it printed instantly. Now, if I could just print to the LaserJet on the network. Anybody got this one figured out? Does Wine provide a way around this?

I have a Windows print server (Win XP SP2) and a 1 opensuse client. I have setup cups as per the following document:
Printer Sharing: Windows Print Server for Suse/openSUSE Linux Clients [Samba and LPD]
I am not using Samba. The setup went fine, but I am not able to print to it. There are other clients (all Windows) that are printing fine to this print server. The following is what I see in the /var/log/cups/error_log:
[Job 3] recoverable: Unable to connect to printer; will retry in 30 seconds...
I am using DHCP in this LAN. Ping is working fine (client's hosts file updated with the print server's ip address.). This looks like a networking issue.

Under Fedora 12, the HP laserjet p2035 is supported. It appears under HP>Laserjet as a dirver option when setting up the printer. But all the HP driver options except two havedisiappeared under Fedora 13 (64 bit version).
I may be missing some package, but if so I don't know what. I didn't have to do anything special, I think, for Fedora 12.
Also, I can't set up the printer as a windows printer. I don't know if it is because none of the driver options work or because of something else. I often have problems setting up remote printing with a new release, so I expected this. But I'm not sure where to begin troubleshooting.

I've searched these forums high and low, but I can't seem to find a way to fix it. I had a similar problem in F10, but that was fixed. The problem I'm having now is a little bit different. If I open the print que before I print something like a test page, and then start printing, an item with appear in the que for a second then disappears, and the printer will do nothing. I've run out of ideas on how to get it to work, I did try to apply the original fix for my first problem since it seemed that the drivers for the Printer that were available via HP weren't quite right, but that didn't work. I tried to run -c 'yum install foo2zjs' and that didn't do anything either.

I am running F15 Beta i686 (Gnome3) Desktop on a dual-core, 4 Mb DDR2 system. I already installed hplip and hpijs drivers and connected HP LaserJet 5MP printer to the parallel port of my PC. Set up was by running "system-config-printer", adding device URI=parallel:/dev/lp0, and selecting approriate driver (CUPS+Gutenprint (en) for the printer. However, when I chose to print a test page, nothing came out and the printer window says the printer is not connected. This is even though I can print from Fedora14 installed on the same PC.

I am having problem printing some urgent documents. My fc14 machine cannot seem to see the printer. I remember on an earlier version it was a breeze ...I connected the printer and immediately the machine recognized it.I spent 2 hours trying to install hplip-gui.i686 0:3.11.5-1.fc14 successfully but yet the machine cannot see the printer.---------- Post added 3rd June 2011 at 08:16 AM ---------- Previous post was 2nd June 2011 at 11:59 PM ----------

I tried to install HP laserjet P1007 printer in my fedora 8 desktop. I followed these instructions:
yum -y install gcc*
wget -O foo2zjs.tar.gz [URL]
tar zxvf foo2zjs.tar.gz
cd foo2zjs
[root@arnab~]# make
[root@arnab~]# make install
[root@arnab~]# make install-hotplug
$ ./getweb 1005
$ ./getweb 1006
$ ./getweb 1007
$ ./getweb 1008
system-config-printer
Then I found the printer and add it. But the problem is when I tried to try to print a test page, it shows "job1 submitted".....that's all. No page gets printed. If I try once more, it shows "job2 submitted" but again no results. I cant also see all the submitted jobs.

I am running Fedora 15 but about 1 week ago my Hp laserjet 1220 all-in-one printer stopped functioning. The OS recognizes the HP printer, but I cannot print any print job whatsoever. I have looked through the faq section and found no resolution for my conflict or problem. I have used Fedora on this system since Fedora 8.

I met network connection problem in my previous installation, so I tried a second time. But when I try to "enable your network interface", it gave me an error: "An error occurred trying tobring up the eth0 network interface.". I tried again and it just freezed there and won't work anymore.I use Comcast cable service, and a Apple Exteme station as router with gateway "10.0.1.1". This desktop is new HP e9150t with Gigabit Network card. Don't know why.

I'm trying to get Deluge WebUI working on my home network. But I can't even find the plugin , it's not in the plugins list or anywhere.
[Code]...
And I didn't get the newest Deluge version either , just got the 1.1.9 and the newest is 1.2 but that shouldn't matter for what I'm trying to do.

I have a machine that I'm trying to setup as a reverse web proxy. It will have two NICs, eth0 will face the public network, and eth1 will face the "internal" network (connects to a switch that goes out to the other web servers that are statically assigned a private IP address).
When both interfaces are started, I can ping hosts on the 1.2.3.0 network and the 192.168.10.0 network without problem when doing so by IP, but if I try to run a ping or nslookup command with a DNS name, it does not work. I've tried commenting out my entries in /etc/resolv.conf and adding the DNS entries in the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ethX files directly (DNS1=x.x.x.x and DNS2=x.x.x.x), but the results are the same.

Fresh install of Fedora 14 from Live cd.Used it for an hour or so, d-loaded some programs, had ti all running great. Wired connection to internet. Had the Network Connection Manager icon in panel. There was an icon saying new updates, alot of them, like 400 or so. Told it to go ahead and up date, left room. Came back hour later was done, said it needed to re boot, so I did. From then on, no internet, not icon, no Network Connection in the drop down list for preferences.
What I have tried:Worked off live cd, again, all works fine, icon, manager, internet all there.In installed version: In terminal, typed service Network Manager, it said unrecognized service.Did yum install network manager. It started to do it, but looked like it was trying to get stuff off mirrors, and of course there is no internet access. error PYCURJ ERROR 6.Of course I can re install, but I figure I will just end up in the same place a few hours from now.

I'm having a bizarre problem where my network connection stops working randomly. At first I thought it was a DNS issue since Firefox simply chilled out on "Looking up [hostname]" until it timed out, but after further investigation (pinging IP's, "host" and "dig" being unable to reach servers) it became apparent that I couldn't even access the DNS servers i.e. the Wicked Connection of the East was most sincerely dead.
There are two strange things about this: one, there are no errors except "timeout". The network manager is happy, Firefox is happy until the lookup fails... Two, the failures only start *after* DHCP configuration. DHCP configuration never has any trouble sending or receiving packets. I'm going to try static IP and whatnot to see if that helps, more information later.

I had an Ubuntu Server 32 bit installation and everything was working fine. Now that I installed Ubuntu Server 64bit on a new drive in the same machine, the ethernet card is not working!! This is insane cause when I put the hard disk with the 32bit installation back and booting from it, the ethernet card is working without any problems but in the 64bits installation it is not shown at all using "ifconfig -a"
lspci output:
Quote:
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications AR8151 v1.0 Gigabit Ethernet (rev c0)
How can I check which module is being loaded in the 32bits installation to try to load it manually in the 64 bits installation?
