View 1 RepliesMy HP Laserjet P1007 not functioning. I am using Linux Mint 9. As per the advise from linux Questions/Answer I deleted "server.crt" and "server.key" from ssl directory, and reinstalled by using "sudo /etc/init.d/cups start" command. Still my printer not working.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried to install HP laserjet P1007 printer in my fedora 8 desktop. I followed these instructions:
yum -y install gcc*
wget -O foo2zjs.tar.gz [URL]
tar zxvf foo2zjs.tar.gz
cd foo2zjs
[root@arnab~]# make
[root@arnab~]# make install
[root@arnab~]# make install-hotplug
$ ./getweb 1005
$ ./getweb 1006
$ ./getweb 1007
$ ./getweb 1008
system-config-printer
Then I found the printer and add it. But the problem is when I tried to try to print a test page, it shows "job1 submitted".....that's all. No page gets printed. If I try once more, it shows "job2 submitted" but again no results. I cant also see all the submitted jobs.
i recently installed fedora 14 xfce and i have a printer laserjet p1007 hp connected. the printer gets detected but there is an error while installation (i.e when i run hp-setup) it gives an error that some binary drivers missing. i refreshed the package list also. but still the driver does not get installed..
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy printer is a HP laserjet 4 Plus. It used to work with the gutenprint drivers pretty much since always.I don't know when it broke, because I don't use it that often. I have tried with the generic postscript driver, with the gutenprint driver, with the j4dith driver and with the hplib driver. Basically, what happens is that all jobs never finish processing in the queue. On the other hand cups-pdf still works.

I know my printer is OK since I print with it on my Windows machine.
I just started a new SysAdmin job on Monday Jan 11, 2010. My predecessor left before I joined the company with NO documentation. All of the system mail (alerts, error messages, informative messages, etc.) that's going to root is being redirected to my boss. I checked .mailrc and /etc/aliases for an alias that would equate root with my boss, but couldn't find anything. My boss doesn't want to be receiving these emails. Where else can the previous SA could have done this operation. How can I sub my email address for that of my boss' to be receiving these alert messages.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm running Kubuntu 11.04 and LibreOffice Writer 3.3.2. I'm trying to print a #10 envelope on an HP LaserJet 5M printer. When I create the envelope and attempt to print it, LIbreOffice sets the paper size to #10 Envelope, as it should. I put the envelope into the manual feed tray and initiate the actual printing operation. The printer goes through the motions of processing the output -- and then goes back to the READY state without printing anything. I've tried using all possible Paper Tray settings and also using the CUPS drivers rather than the Foomatic drivers. None of that makes a difference. What does make a difference is setting the paper size to Letter, but then, of course, the information prints in the wrong place on the page.

How to find printer drivers for the following printers
HP Laserjet 1020
Cannon iP1900
I've been switching out computers to the Ubuntu distro and so far it's been very successful until this recent snag! As I am trying to have a printer plugged in through USB on one computer and shared on the other! I have the USB on the second computer and it found the printer just fine, no problems and nothing else I had to install! I then went to the first computer and tried to add the printer through the CUPS website using all the proper addresses and queue names and I receive CUPS "client-error-not-possible". I have read other threads on this very same problem but to be honest they just make no sense whatsoever to me! I was thinking of just giving up and using a print server but I know that I will run into the same snag as even then I still need CUPS.
View 9 Replies View RelatedUnder Fedora 12, the HP laserjet p2035 is supported. It appears under HP>Laserjet as a dirver option when setting up the printer. But all the HP driver options except two havedisiappeared under Fedora 13 (64 bit version).
I may be missing some package, but if so I don't know what. I didn't have to do anything special, I think, for Fedora 12.
Also, I can't set up the printer as a windows printer. I don't know if it is because none of the driver options work or because of something else. I often have problems setting up remote printing with a new release, so I expected this. But I'm not sure where to begin troubleshooting.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else having problems with HP LaserJets and Ubuntu 10.04? I have a HP LaserJet 3015 and am running a dual boot with Windows 7.
Printer is automatically detected and works fine on: Windows 7, Windows XP, LinuxMint, and older versions of Ubuntu.
But when I'm running Ubuntu 10.04, when I try to print it just adds the job to the print queue and it never prints. After awhile I get a message saying that Ubuntu is unable to communicate with my printer. (or something to that effect). I can't even print a test page.
I have tried installing HPLIP following the directions given, but get the same behavior (can't communicate with the printer). I have tried unplugging the power cord and usb cable and plugging them back in (as per the directions I am following). But still not communicating.
I have tried to download the latest version of CUPS but do not know how to install it properly using command line commands above 'sudo' and 'sh', and I have tried to install HPLIP but it needs 'cups-devel' installed apparently. My Debian can see the 1020 clearly enough to identify it and give its status as idle, via the CUPS interface. When I try and print a Test page it goes to the spooler, says it is printing OK, but nothing prints. The job then disappears and appears on CUPS as completed. In the old days we would have sent a eof() to make the printer work. Have I got a bug in my HP Laserjet 1020 driver? Or am I missing the great plug-in that is not on the Synaptic Package Manager The SPM says I have HPLIP installed.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've searched these forums high and low, but I can't seem to find a way to fix it. I had a similar problem in F10, but that was fixed. The problem I'm having now is a little bit different. If I open the print que before I print something like a test page, and then start printing, an item with appear in the que for a second then disappears, and the printer will do nothing. I've run out of ideas on how to get it to work, I did try to apply the original fix for my first problem since it seemed that the drivers for the Printer that were available via HP weren't quite right, but that didn't work. I tried to run -c 'yum install foo2zjs' and that didn't do anything either.

I already installed hplip and hpijs drivers and connected HP LaserJet 5MP printer to the parallel port of my PC. Set up was by running "system-config-printer", adding device URI=parallel:/dev/lp0, and selecting approriate driver (CUPS+Gutenprint (en) for the printer. However, when I chose to print a test page, nothing came out and the printer window says the printer is not connected. This is even though I can print from Fedora14 installed on the same PC.

I'm trying to connect Ubuntu (wubi installation on Windows) to an HP LaserJet 2100M printer via a USB cable which worked on Vista (I'm migrating away from Vista into Ubuntu).
System > Administration > Printing..I could not see or add any printer.
I searched around and followed these instructions ..
How to Install HP Printer Driver onto Ubuntu 10.10

I downloaded hplip-3.11.1.run but in following installation instructions I think I may have needlessly removed a previously installed hplip driver ..3.10.6 .. and various dependencies were loaded with these errors ..
Now when I go to System > Administration > Printing
In troubleshooting there is no connection to CUPS server. The "Add" button is no longer green as before I started dabbling. No discovered printers.
How do I start again to get HP LaserJet 2100M connected (USB cable) .. and printing?

Inherited an old Laserjet 6P that was working fine XP. No matter which printer driver I use all I get are pages and pages of garbage during the test print. I have tried the hplip, gimp, ljet4 drivers without success. I have tried sending text files from the command line as well (cat /etc/passwd > /dev/lp0) with the same result.
