Fedora Hardware :: Configure Evdo Capitel Card In 13 Using Usb_modeswitch
Sep 6, 2010
I am planning to shift from ubuntu to fedora and i am using Data card for getting connected to internet. My data card is working fine with Ubuntu 10.04.
I have been using usbmodeswitch to make the device to be reconized as a modem rather that a storage devices in ubuntu 10.04. i have followed this link : [url] and it worked fine now when i repeated the same for fedora 13 it doesn't works.
I have installed tcl-8.5.8-1.fc13.i686.rpm , usb_modeswitch-1.1.4-1.fc13.i686 , usb_modeswitch-data-20100707-1.fc13.noarch and wvdial. in fedora 13 it never detected as a modem. i have also tryed using # modprobe usbserial vendor=0x1c9e product=0x9e00 also but this never helped.
I found lots of pepole who belongs to India and using BSNL Data card wants to connect Internet from fedora so I thought post a thread which will help all how are using BSNL EVDO Data Card. At first click on application - System Tools - Terminal enter the following code on your terminal
Updated part starts here When I was using Fedora 10 I post this thread on that time gedit worked properly with "su" Now here if you are using Fedora 14 and by using su gedit is not appearing then try
Code: su - instaed of only "su" hope gedit will work properly. If dose not work then you can follow the next post instructions. Or you can ask in the forum for I am updating "su" by "su -" If you are using earlier version you can try by only "su" or "su-" if none of this works then follow next post. Just remember you have do this in a single terminal and step by step to avoid maximum uses of "su" or "su -"
i have loaded ubuntu 9.10 few days back. I am having problem in configuring my BSNL EVDO CDMA2000 modem(Micromax MMX 300c). Guided by some of the threads, i have followed the below mentioned steps..
xxxxxxx@xxxxxxx:~$ sudo modprobe usbserial vendor=0x05c6 product=0x2001 [sudo] password for xxxxxxx:
Then connected the modem and gave the comment
xxxxxxx@xxxxxxx:~$ lsusb Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 002 Device 004: ID 05c6:2001 Qualcomm, Inc. Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
then i edited the wvdial.conf(i dont understand the details provided in the threads in configuring .conf file)
I have installed fedora core 11 in my computer, I'm using a prolink phs 100 3g usb modem to connect to the internet in windows.while trying to get it working under linux I found a usb mode switching program at [URL] , I downloaded the source for the mode switching program and also downloaded and installed libusb.but when I try to run make (as mentioned in the draisberghof website) I get the following error.
Code:
[bushcat@localhost usb-modeswitch-1.1.2]$ make gcc -o usb_modeswitch usb_modeswitch.c -Wall -l usb usb_modeswitch.c:66:17: error: usb.h: No such file or directory
[code]...
If i'm not mistaken I think the main reason for this is that the compiler can't find the "usb.h" file, which is obvious from the third line of code.
My EVDO (Mass storage cum Modem device) like USB Modems not working on Linux-2.6.10 kernel.I used usb_modeswitch-1.0.5.tar.bz2 package on Linux to flip from mass storage device to modem
I have installed linux on my system. I have connected two ethernet cards in the CPU. I have then connected one cord to one card from the modem. Its working fine. I have connected another cord from the second port to the switch and there by from switch to other systems. However the system is not detecting the second card. I am a newbie to linux and I don't know how to configure it.
The audio chipset on my motherboard was is very new and apparently not yet supported in Linux. I disabled the on-board audio card in the BIOS and installed an old Sound Blaster 32 PCI card figuring I can surely get it to work. How do I get the OS to detect &/or configure this new card. I did some searching and found several articles saying to run redhat-config-soundcard &I don't seem to have that command on my systemHow do I configure this new audio card?

I am using tata indicom photon+ for mobile broadband internet connection.
Code:
Befor yesterday, I was able to connect via this, but today(i guess a update yesterday is the culprit) i cannot. while it should connect automatically, even usb_modeswitch cannot detect anything.

my /etc/modeprobe.conf is also blank. But I can work with wireless
I just upgraded from 11.2 to 11.3 and compiled kernel 2.6.36. In 11.2/2.6.35 pulseaudio/padevchooser was working fine. Now I'm getting boot errors indicating that hso-udev.rules has a problem that will be important in a future release related to SYSFS{} stuff that should be ATTRS{} stuff. Other reading seems to indicate that my problem is that I have both avahi zeroconf and usb_modeswitch running. However usb_modeswitch is perhaps a replacement for zeroconf.
So I disable zeroconf. Now padevchooser cannot run since it needs zeroconf. Immediate action for me is to put zeroconf back in place and ignore the errors, then my system is working again. Long term action is now the issue. Anybody been down this route before? Whose action comes next? Possibly PA will be switching over to usb_modeswitch for zeroconf functionality? Or is there an OpenSuse config change coming?
I am having a problem getting my Vodafone PAYG Huawei K3565 Rev 2 mobile broadband to be recognised and/or connect in 9.10

The advice is to add
[URL]
to the apt sources. (replacing cz as required for several other servers of choice). I tried this (using several different servers) from within Ubuntu Software Centre, but the usb_modeswitch never appeared. In fact (oddly) the source never appeared in the list! (Although I did have a look in the etc/apt/sources.list and it had added a line each time - there were several - I'd tried quite a few!!!) I did try downloading it but when it starts gdebi to install, a message pops up saying it is available (and better supported!) in a software channel.
I searched round a bit and found another reference to the package at
[URL]
This time the sources were totally different and the apt line recommended was
deb [URL]
When I add this it does add the line to the list of sources, but sadly I still cannot see usb_modeswitch after Software Centre has updated. In fact the number of packages available seems to go down from 2186 to 2179!
I suppose I could force the debian package to install, but I don't see why I can't get it to appear in Software Centre!
I should perhaps add that I have added other sources using the "apt sources" and that worked OK so I know I am doing the right thing.
I had a Huawei e1752c O2 Mobile Broadband dongle working fine in Ubuntu 9.04 using usb_modeswitch, with settings taken from After renewing an annual O2 contract, I have a new e1752c and it does not work in Ubuntu 9.04, even after installing the latest usb_modeswitch package and data. The new dongle does work perfectly on an identical laptop that has Ubuntu 10.04 with a freshly installed Network Manager and usb_modeswitch.I am guessing that there is a rule (udev or whatever) hanging over from somewhere that needs deleting, but I don't know where to look, and don't see any useful error messages - the device lists as Vendor 12d1, Product 1446 before and after usb_modeswitch runs, but becomes Product 140c in the Ubuntu 10.04 system.
I some time use LAN and sometime mobile broadband connection for connecting to internet. Now, while connecting vi mobile broadband(MB from now), I always have to do a usb_modeswitch.Is it possible to automatize? i.e. when it detect the MB, it will automatically run commands"sudo usb_modeswitch" and "lsusb"? Running via command is trivial, but I want something that it will detect the MB usb while it is plugged in and run.
I have ZTE's 8700 800M EV-DO modem provided by BSNL. It worked like charm on my uBuntu 10.04 LTS. I simply used it through 'mobile broadband' connection in uBuntu. However, few days ago, I had connection problems and technicians from BSNL resolved it. The connection works just fine in Windows 7, but now it does not work in uBuntu.
Now the dialer simply tries to connect and gives up after some time. I've even tried downloading the ZTE's dialer from the official site, but it does not work (connects, but does not work; shows 0kbps all the time).
What is the recommended way of fixing this? If more information is needed, let me know. I just love to surf the net through uBuntu.
I have a capture tv card in my pc, but i can't configure it. It's a TV Tuner PRO ENLTV-FM Encore Electronics. I have all the System Requeriments and I've downloaded a program called MeTv to use it, but it's not working. The message that i have of this program is:
Code: There are no DVB Tuner Devices I've read on the net that I have to alter something in the kernel called bttv with the
Actually I had solved this problem back to 8.10, but now on maverick, none of the tricks have worked. Either I have a low sound and the speakers keeps going on with the headphone plugged in, or there is no sound at all. On this thread:Quote:http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=995940I had it solved, but now, none of this configurations seems to work, and something has changed as you can see, this was my old aplay -l list:Quote:

We have several new DELL STUDIO-XPS machines pre-packaged with Win7 onto which we intend to load 10.3 the 2.6.22.5-31-default kernel as a dual boot.
The first test machine however is showing reluctance to reveal its NIC under SuSE. The card in question is a Broadcom Netlink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet with driver version 12.4.0.3 under Windows.
The error message I recieve under SuSE is "Unable to configure network card because kernel device is not present".
ifconfig confirms this showing only the loopback device.
The tg3.ko driver seems to be OK (although I am not sure how to interogate this file for its vesion?). It is listed under /sbin/lsmod and I have attempted a rmmod followed by an insmod but thsi seems to have no effect.
Talk on the net suggests Windows will not 'let go' of the card on a dual boot machine but this seems unlikely and I have attempted the various power down options without success.
I have installed a 9200 Radeon (the card says 9250 on it, but computer reads as 9200) on a AMD Sempron 2500+ 64 bit,Ubuntu 10.04 Gnome 2.30.2, Kernel Linux 2.6.32-26; Samsung VGA 941BW monitor.
A friend told me if I added more RAM (512mb), the card would run properly & the graphics would be stellar.
He also told me the drivers were installed.
When I did this & started the computer, before I got to my login, a box appeared, telling me my graphics were running in "Low Mode", & do I want to configure them. When I said "Yes", it told me to restart. When I did, nothing happened & the video card is still running on "low". I checked the fglrx info, and was told "command not found".
