I have a capture tv card in my pc, but i can't configure it. It's a TV Tuner PRO ENLTV-FM Encore Electronics. I have all the System Requeriments and I've downloaded a program called MeTv to use it, but it's not working. The message that i have of this program is:

lsmod - notice that the saa7146 module is not loaded. If loaded manually the card is still not found.

Recently I had to replace my Hauppauge HVR-1600 (it was doing everything I wanted it to do but after a few years burned out) and decided to get the HVR-2250. Before purchasing I checked the forums and noticed that there was quite a bit of support and most everyone managed to get it working so I thought it would be a good idea.
The problem I have now is that, though lspci shows the card as Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors Device 7164 (rev 81); however, when trying to setup mythtv-backend, the card does not show up under the "capture card" section. After a few hours of research, I came across this thread and it seemed to be general consensus that the method worked so I tried it. Still no luck.I ended up formatting, fresh install of Ubuntu 10.10 and then installed MythTV and still nothing. Not really sure where to go from here.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to put together a mythbox for myself. I installed Ubuntu 10.10 and the newest version of the Mythbox backend. My capture card that I am having issues with is a Hauppauge Wintv-HVR-1850 card, I followed the instructions on installation from linuxtv.org and did not get any errors. I tried to set up Mythtv and it didn't get a signal and couldn't find any channels. I would like to know if my card is even working so I tried using xawtv but still could not get a signal from my card.
how I can verify that my card is installed correctly?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup Mythbuntu on a computer connected to a TV. I have bought an USB DVB-T Receiver, named WandTV. According to LinuxTV; WandTV, aka Shenzhen Forward Video EzTV859, is supported in the Linux kernel.
When I try to setup the mythTV backend I'm being asked of what card type I have. I guess the answer to that is "DVB DTV capture card (v3.x)", but no matter what I choose, it can't find any devices.
I'm pretty sure /dev/hidraw0 is the receiver, can I use that to setup the backend?
What kind of tuner I need. do I pick up ntsc, atsc, or something else? My cable comes from the wall to the tv, there is no box receiver.
I have had real bad luck with the acermedia duet and the hauppage hvr-1250. Aperently, the aver duet has 0 support and I can't get the hvr-1250 to work. I'm running mythbuntu 10.04. I can't even get avi's I downloaded to play in mythtv.
I previously had my bt878 capture card setup with Ubuntu 10.04 and it worked fine with Zoneminder. However, after having done a clean install of Ubuntu 10.04, the card causes Ubuntu to freeze whenever I attempt to view the image in a viewing program (happens in tvtime, Cheese and Zoneminder)I have added bttv and bt878 into /etc/modprobe.d/options like before, and have also added options bttv card=77 tuner=-1 into bttv.conf in the same directory (had to create bttv.conf)The freeze causes the whole computer to lock up, and nothing on the keyboard or mouse is responsive, and involes having to do a hard restart.The only difference I can see from before, is that I have installed all of the latest updates with Update Manager, so maybe a new update is causing these problems?Output of dmesg � grep bttv

I'm running VideoLan (VLC) under Ubuntu 9.1 (Karmic) (64-bit) with a Haupaugge-150 card. Right now when I want to get the TV feed in through the coax, I first have to run "ivtv-tune -c3" to set the channel for cable.
I've tried adding a line to the vlc.config but no joy. Googling found an answer for Fedora but it doesn't match the files I'm seeing in those directories for Ubuntu.
What I'd like would to have ivtv set the channel automatically at boot or start-up.
Does anyone know an Ubuntu 10.10 compatible video capture card that has composite connections for video and audio (yellow, red and white)? It must be external and do its own processing so it doesn't use the computer's own CPU. I intend to capture a live stream and have the Ubuntu PC serve it to other computers. I may use VLC or MythTV. I have looked on various related sites but finding a compatible USB one which does its own decoding is hard to find.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have a webcam that is connected to a tv tuner card via the rca input on the tuner card. I want to set that up so that i can view it remotely over the internet. I've seen you can use vlc to do this, but the problem is that I don't want to have the webcam's computer recording and streaming all the time. I want it to only do that when i want to view it from my remote computer. We don't view the camera at a regular time, so a set schedule wouldn't work.
I hope this all makes sense. Is this possible, and if so, what is recommended for getting this done.I'm hoping i can somehow control this with a remote control and we'd see it on our tv monitor (that'd make it easy for the non-computer people here), so if it could be done in a script that would be great cause i can have the remote run the script.

I am new here and I have tried checking similar threads as well as other sources in the net but could not get my card working. I use Debian squeeze on a P4 2.4MHz machine with 2 GB ram. lspci can detect all 8 chips but could not load the proper module since it could not identify the vendor. I have tried unloading the SAA7134 module and reloading repeatedly all possible cards from 1 to 174 by "modprobe -i SAA7134 card=#,#,#,#,#,#,#,# #-numbers 1 to 174 one a a time.

i'm not be able to tune any stations using tvtime and xawtv. if channel is not selected in windows OS for more then 1 hour then tvtime displays message no signal, same message in tvtime-scaner (No sound).
I'm trying to configure my network card using the b43 driver. I'm running 10.04.2 on the kernel version 2.6.35-25-generic-pae.
Surprisingly, I was able to connect to my home wireless network using the b43 driver without a problem. The only issue is that it doesn't automatically connect. I have to use the following command in order to get it to work:

After typing my password, I wait for 10 seconds and am automatically connected. My question is, how do I configure my system to do this for me permanently (or at least automatically) so I don't have to type it every time I log on?
I have installed linux on my system. I have connected two ethernet cards in the CPU. I have then connected one cord to one card from the modem. Its working fine. I have connected another cord from the second port to the switch and there by from switch to other systems. However the system is not detecting the second card. The thing is that the remote works, in fact some buttons are recognized properly... but some are not. I'm not using lirc!, from I have been reading there is support for generic remotes in the 2.6.31 kernel, besides, i can't configure lirc, it doesn't let me load the kernel modules to start up the daemon for the ir. is there a config file for the button mapping of the native remote support in kernel 2.6.31?. Been searching it but couldn't find it.

I have a Belkin Wireless G F5D7230-4. I was attempting to configure a wireless card on another computer on my network when it froze during the reboot phase after making settings adjustments. The wired connection is fine, except on that computer that I was making the adjustments from. It won't connect at all. I plugged a friends netbook into the same wired line and it connected. Also there is no wireless signal on any laptops. Mac, Win Linux, don't matter. I tried all the various methods of resetting to default but still when I try to access the router's config page @ http://192.168.2.1 I get the error Code: The server at 192.168.2.1 is taking too long to respond.
