I have CentOS 5.5. server on 2 raid 1 drives .The system is a quad core Intel CPU with 2GB RAM.Printers:-

HP multifunction 5600
Canon prixma ip3000
Canon prixma ip4500
I cannot get any of these printers to work on this server.
I was informed that Firefox 3 supports HTML5 but Centos 5's Firefox is not supporting it. This is the screenshot of the video that failed to run on Centos 5, Firefox 3. I also tried to install the latest version of adobe flash player but the new version didn't work.

What I have works for Parallels in which a new VM defaults to emulate an IDE hard disk. It does not work for VMware Workstation which defaults to emulate a SCSI disk.

Can the Kickstart file be made to not care what drive type is there, or conditionally handle either type?
I've been using Kubuntu 9.10 for several months now. For most of that time, I configured and used with no problem several network printers.. a HP LaserJet 3015 at home connected to a Windows machine, and a Xerox Phaser 8560 at my coworking space connected directly to a router.
However, several weeks ago I was at the coworking space, requested a print from my web browser, and in the printer selection dialog, observed the list of printers expanding... some sort of autodetection of network printers was occuring, and multiple instances of the same printer were being offered, with slightly different names. Printing to these devices did not work.
Now, after a reboot, there are NO network printers available no matter what network I'm connected to. When I use the Kubuntu printer configuration tool and try to set up a new printer, it asks me to "Select a connection" to which the only option it gives me is "Other". When I put in an address for the printer it just cycles endlessly, never finding anything.
I have a shared printer on my Ubuntu 10.04 machine, and it cannot be seen by other computers (macbook, pc) on the network. I have the printer shared, but it is not a member of the 'Shared Printers' group. When I add it to the 'Shared Printers' group, it stays there until I close the 'Printing' application GUI. Then, when I re-open 'Printing,' it is no longer in that group. I think this is why I can't see it on the network, due to the wording of the option in Server Settings to 'Publish shared printers connected to this system.'

However, it sits amongst other PCs running XP Pro and Network Printers (e.g. Xerox Docuprint C2535A) on the network. My question is whether there is a way of adding the Xerox printer to the Ubuntu Server so that other PCs will send print jobs through the server. I think the printer is windows-based printer. Is it possible to do this? or are there any other options that you may be able to share with me?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set my openSUSE desktop up to use the printers on my office network via Samba. I managed to get it working in 11.2 but 11.3 is giving me some trouble.I am able to access the printers and use them but I have to enter my network credentials each time I print. In 11.2 I was able to "save" my username/password and was not required to do this. Are there any Samba packages I need to add in addition to the basic ones? There seems to be a lack of documentation on this particular subject, most is concerning Windows clients printing on Linux print servers.

I have a 802.11a-WLAN running. Due to regulatory restrictions, I am to do some dynamic frequency selection(DFS) on certain channels available in the 802.11a-band. This is called 802.11h. I am seraching for a solution reagarding 802.11h-functionality. I do know, there is a branch within madwifi called madwifi-dfs which was developed mainly by Bennoit Papillaut and Pavel Roskin.
The problem with this driver is, that it doesn't work reliable. If I simply start a network scan on my Lenovo-machine, the DFS-driver running on the embedded board recognizes a radar signal and switches the channel dirctly. So my question is - is there any driver available supporting 802.11h? I do not care about the chipset manufacturer or anything else. All I need is a working DFS-capable driver.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a HP DC 6000 small form factor which has not taken the GUI after installing the debian lenny version 5.07 on it. I have tried installing 5.01-5.07. None of the Debian series do have the supported driver for the on board graphics card for HP box it seems. I can take the terminal and can see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file which does not have much alterations form the default one which can make the driver been taken by it. Could some body help with the hp driver for Debian for the respective graphics card or could some body me with the content of xorg.xonf file.

When i try to install in graphics mode after disk checking i.e while anaconda is loading my monitor automatically turned off. So I recognized that problem with some driver. Now since I know a little bit about linux, I opened up a terminal and redirected the stderr and stdout to a file called "error". Then I read the file and it said:

So then I interpreted that as meaning that there was a library called "gstffmpegdemux.c" that needed replacing. So I tried using synaptic to replace. Then Synaptic wouldn't let me get the package, Though I could see it existed (I would put up a screenshot, but for some reason it won't let me upload) then I tried aptitude, which claims it doesn't exist, and then apt-get which also claims that it doesn't exist.
A friend of mine has a Dell XPS1530 lappy that has a broadcom bcm4328 wireless adapter. I tried installing kismet on it so I can scan for wireless network in range. I configured it with the source driver as bcm43xx in kismet.conf and complained that the driver didn't support monitor mode. It uses the proprietary 'wl' kernel module to operate but kismet can't use the 'wl' module and it says the same error. I tried unloding the wl and b44 modules and loding the b43 driver but then the adapter stoped working. I searched on the net a bit and found out that kisment doesn't work with the prorpietary drivers for that card.
