Ubuntu :: SWF Files - GStreamer Encountered General Supporting Library Error

Jan 6, 2011

I have a .swf file that I was going to play, but when I try to open it, totem (which apparently is my .swf program) says "GStreamer encountered a general supporting library error." Now since I know a little bit about linux, I opened up a terminal and redirected the stderr and stdout to a file called "error". Then I read the file and it said:

** Message: Error: GStreamer encountered a general supporting library error.
gstffmpegdemux.c(1243): gst_ffmpegdemux_open (): /GstPlayBin2lay/GstURIDecodeBin:uridecodebin0/GstDecodeBin2:decodebin20/ffdemux_swf:ffdemux_swf0:
Input/output error

So then I interpreted that as meaning that there was a library called "gstffmpegdemux.c" that needed replacing. So I tried using synaptic to replace. Then Synaptic wouldn't let me get the package, Though I could see it existed (I would put up a screenshot, but for some reason it won't let me upload) then I tried aptitude, which claims it doesn't exist, and then apt-get which also claims that it doesn't exist.

OpenSUSE Install :: Error Occured While Installing GRUB?

Jan 12, 2011

This is my first linux install ever, so I have no idea what is going on. I hope I have enough information to get this figured out as soon as possible. I was bored with windows 7 and wanted to learn another operating system. I made a boot cd with openSuSE gnome. On the internal hard drive is my windows 7 boot system that i do not want to touch, and on the external 1tb hard drive, i'd like to partition 50 GB for openSuSE. If this is not possible i have another method, but i'd rather not use it (which is use my secondary 80 GiB hdd). When installing, I am getting the error, "Error occured while installing GRUB" Which shows the following:

Programming :: Recommend A Simple Png-supporting Image Library?

May 14, 2011

I want to build a simple OCR program and I was wondering what library to use. The images are saved on my hdd as colour .png files, i won't be using any effects on them but I will be working with pixels a lot, so direct access to them would really be great.So I was curious if there's a lib that provides direct access to individual pixels and pretty much nothing else (libpng, devIL or QImage from qt are all good but each has it's downfalls).

Ubuntu :: An Error Occured While Mounting / (Along With The By-uuid

Feb 18, 2011

my Dad's computer was running quite slow here lately (Running Hardy Heron). I decided to go ahead and run all the software updates, and had it go ahead and update the OS as well. Well, the install went fine, but upon booting, it crashes to busy-box with the dreaded "ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/########## not found error". I found that if I waited for a while, then cd'd to the by-uuid folder, this file eventually showed up. So I figured maybe if I 'exit' from there, it would boot up and find the file. Au Contrair, things get stranger! I end up with a purple screen telling "An Error Occured While Mounting /". Here's what it looks like: This is quite frustrating, I'd like to get it fixed and hopefully save the data he has on there! I remember having the by-uuid error once before after running an update I think, but can't remember how I fixed it! Feels like I just used the 'exit' trick a couple of boots and it was fine??

Ubuntu :: Latex Syntax Using Flymake: Emacs / Configuration Error Has Occured While Running Texify?

Jan 29, 2011

I'm trying to use emacs in the auctex mode. But Flymake complains about something I could not understand. This is the error it shows whenever I open a tex file.

Code:
Flymake:Configuration error has occured while running (texify --pdf --tex-option=-c-style-errors PATH_TO_FILE_DIRECTORY/FILE_flymake.tex).
Flymake will be switched OFF.

I have texify installed on my system. I also tried suggestions in the emacs wiki on FlymakeTex, added the following lines in my .emacs file:

Code:
(defun flymake-get-tex-args (file-name)
(list "pdflatex" (list "-file-line-error" "-draftmode"
"-interaction=nonstopmode" file-name)))
How do I stop this msg and use flymake.

I know with Kubuntu I had some issues with particular packages with KPackageKit so I'd use GDebi for those. I went throught the wine user guide but they haven't explained about how to install it in detail, but i found that, "Compiling & installing Wine from source is slightly more difficult than using a package".

I went to [URL] looking for packages but again its saying, i should install some library's before building Wine and leads to [URL]. I went there & found a web page with some codes.

Software :: How To Limit Resources - Mod_perl

Nov 15, 2010

Few months ago I'd got problem with Apache on my server. Some requests required few gigabytes of memory, much more than was avaliable. I've set ulimit -v XXX and this fixed problem for single request.

I still have got problem with multiples requests. I'm using mod perl, which runs few processes for requests, we can assume, that there is one process per request. ulimit cannot handle this, because it can only limit virtual memory per process, not for a group of processes.

Programming :: Mod_perl Not Finding Lperl?

Sep 10, 2010

I am trying to compile and install mod_perl with apache so I can use apache:asp.
I run Makefile.PL with this command.

Code:
perl Makefile.PL APACHE_SRC=../apache_2.2.9/src
DO_HTTPD=1 USE_APACI=1 EVERYTHING=1
APACI_ARGS='--prefix=/usr/local/httpd_perl'
then I run make.

I get this error.

[error]
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lperl
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[1]: *** [mod_perl.so] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/mod_perl/src/modules/perl'
make: *** [modperl_lib] Error 2
[/error]

It does not seem to be finding perl but I do nt know why or what to do about it?
could this be the problem? APACI_ARGS='--prefix=/usr/local/httpd_perl' I do not have the slightest ideal what that means or if I need it.

General :: Installing A Library Locally In Home Directory But Program Doesn't Recognize It

Aug 18, 2011

I am installing a program on a server as a non-root user. Specifically it is tmux 1.5, but this should apply broadly to all locally installed program in my opinion (I mention the program name in case this problem ends up not being my own error).

The program requires me to install some dependent libraries (e.g. libevent and ncurses). So, I installed them both locally since I do not have root access

cd $HOME/library/installation/folder
DIR=$HOME/local
./configure --prefix=$DIR
#... make ... make install

[Code]....

Ok, so this installs the program without problems into $HOME/local/bin, but if I run the executable: $HOME/local/bin/tmux , I get the following error:

tmux: error while loading shared libraries: libevent-2.0.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

It would seem to me that the program cannot find the desired libraries, but the file libevent-2.0.so.5 does indeed exist in $HOME/local/lib as specified in the configure options. I am wondering how I can get the program to recognize the installed library in order to run. I tried putting symbolic links in $HOME/lib, $HOME/bin, and $HOME/local/bin, but none of these worked.

Ubuntu :: Setup Mod_perl With Scripts And Html Files In The Same Directory?

Apr 27, 2011

I have mod_cgi working perfectly. However, it turns out there are features of mod_perl that I'm trying to use. I have followed all the documentation I can find on using Ubuntu's mod_perl install with Apache2. There seems to be some type of problems with the mod_perl's documentation, as it doesn't work as it's defined. However, I found a modification to make it work, but only is designated directories. If I tried to use in a directory with my other HTML files the regular HTML files will fail.

Using these steps (but using apt-get's install rather than compiling the tar ball). I did as follows:

[URL]

placed this in the httpd.conf file (which was basically the same as "a2enmod perl".

httpd.conf line:

Code:
LoadModule perl_module /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_perl.so
Alias /perl/ /home/web/perl/
<Directory /home/web/perl>
SetHandler perl-script
