Ubuntu :: Thunderbird Does Not Display Message Body?
Nov 13, 2010
I am running Ubuntu 10.04. for a few emails I receive thunderbird does not display the message body (header is OK). The emails where this happens are always emails where the message is there both as text/plain and as text/html as alternative. If I view the source, everything is there. I have tried to choose View->Original HTML / Simple HTML / Plain Text, but none of them worked.
When you view mail in evolution in the vertical mode with the folders on the left, then the mail list in the middle and the message on the right, the mail list displays each message on two rows. But in thunderbird, the mail list is just in one row which means that much of the message header is not visible.
how to get thunderbird to display message lists using two rows per message?
I recently got the problem that Thunderbird does not displays the messages anymore. The e-mails are downloaded form the server, a new email warning is given, but the e-mail cannot be displayed (in fact it is not loaded in the message window. I could only see the TB start page). I cannot even see the old messages.
However, when use "see message source" I can see the e-mails.
I also noticed this message in the error console:
server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555
I use Fedora 12 + thunderbird 3.0.6-1
On another linux box F9+ThB 2.0.0 I do not have that issue.
Today I upgraded to Fedora 13 + TB 3.1.1. This should be the latest one, but I still cannot see the message.
Also, on F13 I got another issue with Firefox 3.6.7. When I switch between the tabs, the tabs will turn black and will not get back to normal for 10-15 sec. It looks liek a random effect because often only part fo the page turns black. This issue appear in the windows of TB 3.1.1 since updated to F13.
My hardware is a Sony SR49 laptop with ATI mobility Radeon HD3470
Have Google chrome and this black page issue is not present. The same with Evolution mail, but I do not like it.
Trying to write a small php program to send emails using a form. I have collected all the information in php variables and I can send the mails just fine. But I need some neat and clean formatting for the mail that is received and hence thought html tables would be nice. But all the html tags are received as plain text and not html though I have mentioned in headers content-type to be html. Any links? If anyone can put some light on it? I thought that html tags would just work fine without much issue. I have tried same with asp and it worked.
PS: I am no programmer. Just trying my hands out on some php.
Edit: I am using a php mailer class from php classes to send mails. I need some way to use an external smtp server for sending mails. I have seen pear but I do not want to use pear. It is not available on the server I am testing and it is not possible for me to install it. I do not have access to install pear and can not ask to install it.
For some reason thunderbird randomly decided to stop letting my dad reply to emails with attachments. He can reply to normal emails, but as soon as he tries responding to an email with an attachment thunderbird just shows this:
Note the cutoff toolbar -- that might be a seperate issue though.
It will then show the above for all emails he tries responding to until I restart thunderbird.
I have tried:
1. Running Ubuntu classic with no effects. 2. Moving ~/.thunderbird 3. Changing the theme to clearlooks. 4. Resizing/maximizing/moving the window.
I have not installed or removed anything, the last upgrade I did was a few days ago, a bunch of qt libs were upgraded, along with firefox and openoffice.
My dad really likes thunderbird, and he needs to be able to reply to emails. I suppose I can set him up with Evolution if I have to, but he probably won't like that.
For some reason I am unable to get Thunderbird 3.0.4 to display html in a message. I can see the html code when I chose to "view source", but the message itself is totally blank. I am using Ubuntu Lucid.
I am having problems with Thunderbird in Ubuntu Lucid. I am not sure since when. It could have been since I upgraded to Lucid from Karmic. When I open Thunderbird, a message pops up that is supposed to ask me for the password. However, it is all blank inside and doesn't display the text. I found that after I click on ALT+TAB a few times, the message displays correctly. This is very strange. Is anyone else having (or had) the same problem? Does anyone have an idea for a fix?I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling but it didn't work out (I didn't "purge" though).
I'm running TB 3.1.5. Images do not display in emails. There is no "Display Images" button. Where the images would be, I only get a broke image icon (the little torn page). I don't know if this is a Ubuntu specific issue, but I thought I'd post here because the community is so responsive. I have tried the solution at this site, but though the mail.default_html_action value is set to 3, I still have no luck. [URL]
KMail 1.11.4, KDE 4.2.4: I'm migrating from WinXP to Mandriva, and installed KMail at the weekend. Works fine, but I have a niggle - the message list displays headers grouped by month order. I'd like the option of having a simple list (no groups), and suspect that it could be done - but I haven't been able to find out how. I've checked in the Handbook without success, and a search in LQ hasn't turned up anything yet.Any suggestions gratefully received. If this isn't the right place for a KMail query,
I installed the latest version of Thunderbird by downloading the tarball and copying the contents to the required folder and just point launchers to the Thunderbird file. However I cannot get GNOME Do to run Thunderbird. When I type run in Gnome Do, I go through the entire list without having Thunderbird as an option. The only plugin I can find is one that allows you to copy Thunderbird contacts to the clipboard. I have set Thunderbird to be my default mail client, so when I type an email address I can choose to compose a mail in GNOME Do, but just opening up Thunderbird to check mail is not possible.
I know that you can select from a list, groups from plasma "search & launch" - but is it possible to create and add other groups. Also is it possible to change the kmail at the top of the display to thunderbird, which I use.
I have been working on this for all afternoon.I have found links here and elsewhere, with no solution.(currently) I am using crontab to execute the shutdown command based on a schedule. M-W, Th-Fr, and Sat.The message argument does not work. I need a Gui warning message before the Pc kicks the user off.Zenity does not work directly with crontab, so I put it in a script:#!/bin/bash Zenity --warning --text "The library is closing in 10 minutes. This PC will automatically shutdown in 5 minutes. Please save your work now, to prevent data loss."
booting up the PC (Before or After user login) display an "Acceptable Usage agreement" with a OK button. The User must press OK to proceed. The Acceptable Usage agreement shows our companies System network policy. It can be easily done in a windows PC (Look Here). But I don't know how it is configure in ubuntu .
I have a Dell monitor attached to a Dell laptop. I am using Ubuntu 10.04 x64.
Spec: Latitude E6500 : Intel Core 2 Duo P8800(2.66GHz,1066MHz,3MB) Base Options : 256MB Nvidia Quadro NVS 160M Graphic Card 1 S Display : 15.4in Widescreen WUXGA (1920X1200) 2CCFL Dell 2001FP (attached using DVI)
When I try to boot into Ubuntu with the monitor attached I get a DVI: Cannot Display this Mode message on my monitor. I can boot into Ubuntu just fine if I detach the monitor. Have tried with VGA, but to no avail. I have the latest and greatest Nvidia drivers downloaded from the Nvidia web site. Googling indicates that this is a Dell problem, however, I am not sure about this. It worked just fine on my previous laptop (IBM T61) and Ubuntu 9.10, so I guess it has to do with the laptop and not Ubuntu 10.04.
how to program in C or C++, but I'm pretty decent with python ( I've only used this on Windows ) and I was wondering if there was a way I can display my notifications like that as well. If you could just tell me what causes these messages to display like this I'm sure I could do some investigating of my own.
Even if I minimize it by sliding it to the bottom or hit F8 and close with " File - Quit" that stupid thing keeps appearing and I again have to hit F8 every time.
I currently using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.Whenever I try installing any new package(*.deb) it will display red error message that I don't understand. What happen? and how to solve this problem?
I am using LuckyBackup to back up my laptop disk to a USB disk. I would like to display to the user the message "Please mount backup disk" and have the user click "OK". LuckyBackup has a feature to allow issuing commands before it does the backup. I have been investigating scripts (I have never written one.), but do not understand how to use them to this end.
i have a problem... after using gparted... to delete my ntfs part, and increase my linux partition, moving (by copying or deletin) SWAP and one other partition, used for system..i ended up having this message displayed on restartPHP Code:Error: file not foud.grub rescue> i will post ASAP a print screen of gparted maybe you can help me in sorting this outI would like NOT to reinstall ubuntu, but to find a sollution to this problem
I need to display a message before any login on a Linux box, either locally and for remote login via SSH. How can I achieve this? "issue" and "Banner" are the two concepts I need to use to provide a message for every user before they log into the system.
why the Message-Body is not shown when email is recieved using the PHP Script as given below? However, I can see the Attachment and the Subject Line properly. If I send an email to my Internal ID then everything is fine. But when the same email is sent to an external id such @someOtherCompany then the Message in the Body is not sent. how to seperate the $message varibale from being used in the $header part abd form it in HTML in a way that the Attachment part, and the subject part are not disturbed?
I try to change locale for a program to run my native language with root. I don't know what I made, but can't open gui programs from konsole with root account.
It appear this error:
Code:
When type locale, it appear:
Code:
Yesterday I make run level 4 to skip typing startx in console, and login directly to KDE.
For some reason, the desktop for Fedora 12 has the following closing tag:
Code: </body> <
I have just installed Fedora 12, and I am using GNOME. Even the live disc had the tags. I had assumed that after installing the software to the hard disk I would be rid of the problem. Apparently I was wrong. Google does not seem to bring up a solution. Has anyone else encountered this?
F9 has been running great since it came out. I read that one should install F10 before F11 so I did install F10! Everything went great.
(1) Then I tried to install the F11 iso dvd. After the "anaconda started" message at the bottom of a blue screen, the screen went blank and occasionally the message would appear: "cannot display this mode 2:dvi-d". Thinking the monitor had gone into power save, I hit many keys and moved the mouse to no avail.
I gave up! BTW I had checked all media CDs for errors.
(2) then working under F10, a little message appeared from the lower right of the screen asking if I wanted to upgrade to F11.
I accepted and again "cannot display this mode 2:dvi-d" on a black screen after anaconda started on a blue screen. This time no ISO DVD F11. I've never seen such an error message in 11 years (off and on) of using Linux. HD Disk activity was showing on the disk activity light so I let it run all night and part of today. I hit a bunch of keys and moved the mouse and the blue screen returned saying all was done and restarting.
After restart, I seem to have F11 installed. I did a yum update and got some more F11 updates. On the grub screen, the only F11 kernel was the PAE kernel which I selected and got:
Does F11 have any F11 kernels? BTW running >setup (hd0,0) under F10 grub ruined my XP prof OS on scsi 0 so I reloaded XP Prof from scratch.
Questions:
(1) what is this "cannot display this mode 2:dvi-d"?
(2) Now I cannot boot to Fedora 11 and all the advice on how to reinstall grub has failed failed. Did a rescue and chroot /mnt/sysimage and the fdisk -l
Now XP Prof seems to be on /dev/sdc and Fedora on /dev/sdd. What do I do? In the meantime I have retreated to Fedora 10.
Just installed F15, was everything fine, but then gnome got away, from terminal I have<gnome-session:1951): Warning can't start display message. Before that I put in config file one extra line to start tint2 like <sleep 3 && tint2.Not sure was it the reason?
