I know that you can select from a list, groups from plasma "search & launch" - but is it possible to create and add other groups. Also is it possible to change the kmail at the top of the display to thunderbird, which I use.
View 3 RepliesI run opensuse 11.3/KDE:Factory. Recently, kmail updated to using akonadi. The following problem came up. My local emails are now managed by a "local folders" component of akonadi. The folder structure is displayed correctly in Kmail. However, no emails are shown for some folders. Emails still live in the .kde4/share/app/kmail directory hierarchy and can be imported into a new folder after moving them somewhere else. However, even after a fresh import sometimes emails are no longer recognized.

I've been using Thunderbird (2.0.0.24) with html attachments opening in Firefox.I just installed the new Chrome browser (5.0.375.70) and like it very much, enough so that I decided to switch from Firefox now that the Add-Ons I like are available for Chrome (Lastpass, Adblock, AutoPager). I've made Chrome the default browser in KDE's "Configure Desktop>Default Applications", but html attachments in Thunderbird still open in Firefox.I've tried most of the fixes offered on this and other forums as well as those offered by Mozilla's various help files, but nothing works. Most suggestions refer to fixes for 1.x versions of Thunderbird and no longer can be used.I just checked another OpenSUSE 11.2 PC with the newer 3.04 version of T'bird and saw no solution there either.

How can I change their themes?
I have been using kmail on opensuse (11.2) for about 3 months with few issues. I usually launch using alt+F2, type "kma" and it appears top of the list. I have turned on my laptop today and kmail has simply disappeared. I have gone through the ghekko and the only mail client listed is thunderbird. It is not in the alt+F2 menu. If I type kmail in konsole I get the "if kmail is not a typo" speech. I've also tried using kontact (for the first time) to see if my mail appears there

View 2 Replies View RelatedSince opensuse 11.3 I can't use wine properly again: picasa (built-in wine) and crossover office will both extremely slow down my desktop, even if the wine-application will launch in slowmotion. Along with this issue, there is often a KDE box appearing with the announcement that display-settings have changed. These will appear in mass and overlap (from 6 to 70 message boxes). There is clearly a big issue with the last openSUSE. Is it already known? How to fix it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using OpenSUSE as a guest OS in VMware. Display settings are 1400x1050@60Hz but I want to change them for 1440x900. Using root account I go to Configure Desktop -> Display -> 1440x900. The first problem is that I can't choose 60Hz, only "Auto" or "0.0". I click Apply and the resolution changes, but if I reboot the computer or just logoff... resolution goes back to 1400x1050. My card and monitor properties: [URL]. Another strange thing is that if I click Ok on the Card and Monitor properties (changing from one resolution to another), I can choose to "Test" it, and xfine2 appears but... it ALWAYS says "1400x1050". View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently got the problem that Thunderbird does not displays the messages anymore. The e-mails are downloaded form the server, a new email warning is given, but the e-mail cannot be displayed (in fact it is not loaded in the message window. I could only see the TB start page). I cannot even see the old messages.
However, when use "see message source" I can see the e-mails.
I also noticed this message in the error console:
server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555
I use Fedora 12 + thunderbird 3.0.6-1
On another linux box F9+ThB 2.0.0 I do not have that issue.
Today I upgraded to Fedora 13 + TB 3.1.1. This should be the latest one, but I still cannot see the message.
Also, on F13 I got another issue with Firefox 3.6.7. When I switch between the tabs, the tabs will turn black and will not get back to normal for 10-15 sec. It looks liek a random effect because often only part fo the page turns black. This issue appear in the windows of TB 3.1.1 since updated to F13.
My hardware is a Sony SR49 laptop with ATI mobility Radeon HD3470
Have Google chrome and this black page issue is not present. The same with Evolution mail, but I do not like it.
For some reason I am unable to get Thunderbird 3.0.4 to display html in a message. I can see the html code when I chose to "view source", but the message itself is totally blank. I am using Ubuntu Lucid.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with Thunderbird in Ubuntu Lucid. I am not sure since when. It could have been since I upgraded to Lucid from Karmic. When I open Thunderbird, a message pops up that is supposed to ask me for the password. However, it is all blank inside and doesn't display the text. I found that after I click on ALT+TAB a few times, the message displays correctly. This is very strange. Is anyone else having (or had) the same problem? Does anyone have an idea for a fix?I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling but it didn't work out (I didn't "purge" though).

The emails where this happens are always emails where the message is there both as text/plain and as text/html as alternative. If I view the source, everything is there. I have tried to choose View->Original HTML / Simple HTML / Plain Text, but none of them worked.

But in thunderbird, the mail list is just in one row which means that much of the message header is not visible.

I installed the latest version of Thunderbird by downloading the tarball and copying the contents to the required folder and just point launchers to the Thunderbird file.
However I cannot get GNOME Do to run Thunderbird. When I type run in Gnome Do, I go through the entire list without having Thunderbird as an option. The only plugin I can find is one that allows you to copy Thunderbird contacts to the clipboard.
I have set Thunderbird to be my default mail client, so when I type an email address I can choose to compose a mail in GNOME Do, but just opening up Thunderbird to check mail is not possible.
At last, I am serious converting from openSUSE/KDE3.5 to openSUSE 11.2/KDE 4. Being a bit retarded in this, the following must have been solved by many.
After starting Kmail in KDE 4 I managed to see all my mails. I also managed to get my filters moved from old to new (had to go back to 3.5 to export them first).
But I still fail to see how to copy my accounts/identities, etc. It is not done automaticaly, there is no export function I could find. How to manage this?
EDIT: must be 3.5 in the title. Done by a nice mod.
On my OpenSuse 11.2 KDE 4.3.5, when I launch kmail for the first time it does not start. I have to re-launch it to get it running. By launching it from the command line, I get the message:

I have installed 11.4, and it seems (seemed) to work OK so far. I installed Thunderbird via the opensuse "1 click install". the installation ran smoothly, but now a click on the Thunderbird icon does not activate any mail client; the only success is that Thunderbird icon jumps joyfully and then disappears.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have setup different identities in Kmail to deal with multiple gmail accounts so I have a different set of inbox, sent mail and draft folder for each account.In the message layout, I have chosen to display the columns - subject,sender/receiver and date. For one of my email accounts, kmail does the job perfectly. The inbox foler shows subject, sender and date, whereas the sent-mail folder shows subject, receiver and date. However, this order is not maintained for my other email accounts. The inbox folders show subject, sender and date(which is correct); the sent-mail folder shows subject, sender and date - instead of subject, receiver and date which is what should be displayed.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn my recently installed openSUSE 11.4 system I am using Kwallet to store all of my private passwords and also those associated with my Kmail accounts. All of these passwords appear correctly in Kwallet, but it seems there is a problem with Kmail accessing them.Whenever I start a new session, Kmail loads first and is followed by Kwallet. When Kmail then tries to do its first mail retrieval it stops and asks for the account password. I type this in and then Kwallet requests its administrator password. Once I type this in, my mail is downloaded and I get no further request for the passwords during that session.
The same thing happens when I attempt to send my first email of the day. I get a Kmail request for the SMTP account password. I've tried changing the Kwallet settings so that it doesn't close when unused for a period,or when the screensaver kicks in, but this (predictably) has no effect. In the Access Control screen, both KDE Wallet Manager and Kontact are shown as 'Always Allow' and I can see no other settings in either Kwallet or Kmail which are relevant to the problem.My guess is that the problem occurs because Kmail starts up ahead of Kwallet and therefore doesn't load the passwords initially. But that may be a red herring as I'm not familiar with the way Kmail and Kwallet interact.
