For some reason I am unable to get Thunderbird 3.0.4 to display html in a message. I can see the html code when I chose to "view source", but the message itself is totally blank. I am using Ubuntu Lucid.
View 2 RepliesI have been doing some work on an mailing system and sent a test e-mail to myself. This had an html body and a paragraph for which the font was declared as itc zapf chancery ,cursive. I know this is not a good choice but it was only a test. When displaying the html message in thunderbird, Zapf Chancery was not used and the paragraph displayed in some other font. If I go into preferences -> composition, I can display a list of fonts that includes itc zapf chancery. Thunderbird displays the html page without problems.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI cannot read html in emails or in Firefox.It was working fine until I tried to modify the message composition settings in the Preferences menu.I was trying to make it so that I could forward messages in HTML to send to a colleague his flight itinerary.I had set all my messages to be composed in plain text by default with Enigmail.A Google search page for example will only show images but no text is rendered. I can see the blue underlines for links.
If I highlight the webpage and copy it to the Notepad, I can read the text. So the issue isn't that the pages aren't loading, but they are not displaying correctly.The same problem is also now present in my email.Please help! I don't know what to do short of reinstalling Ubuntu and I would rather not.I am on version 9.10 if that helps.
I have displayed web pages (e.g., index.html) under fedora 4, 5, 7, 8 before with no difficulty. Now I troed to do similar thing under Fedora 12, and I cannot display index.html. Is Fedora 12 special? I did '#tail -f /var/log/httpd/error-log' and noticed a line:
"SELinux policy enabled; httpd running as context system_u:system_r:httpd_t:s0"
Is the SELinux policy blocking me from displaying index.html page?

I am running Lucid with Thunderbird 3.1. I can't make the Send To feature (right click on a file in Nautilus) work. It seems to send a file but the file doesn't go to the designated email address. I don't have TB designated as the default email, because I don't know how to do that

I'm on 3.0.4 and it took me forever to find a compatible version of the Lightning extension, which I really need.Now I am afraid to upgrade to anything older than 3.1 because it might break Lightning, and I'm afraid to upgrade to 3.1 because maybe there's a reason it's not in the official repository yet (and because who knows if the latest version of Lightning really is compatible with the latest version of Thunderbird). My question is, is anybody out there currently running Thunderbird 3.1 with the Lightning extension on Kubuntu or Ubuntu 10.04, AMD64? Have you found it to be stable?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with Thunderbird in Ubuntu Lucid. I am not sure since when. It could have been since I upgraded to Lucid from Karmic. When I open Thunderbird, a message pops up that is supposed to ask me for the password. However, it is all blank inside and doesn't display the text. I found that after I click on ALT+TAB a few times, the message displays correctly. This is very strange. Is anyone else having (or had) the same problem? Does anyone have an idea for a fix?I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling but it didn't work out (I didn't "purge" though).

The emails where this happens are always emails where the message is there both as text/plain and as text/html as alternative. If I view the source, everything is there. I have tried to choose View->Original HTML / Simple HTML / Plain Text, but none of them worked.

But in thunderbird, the mail list is just in one row which means that much of the message header is not visible.

I installed the latest version of Thunderbird by downloading the tarball and copying the contents to the required folder and just point launchers to the Thunderbird file.
However I cannot get GNOME Do to run Thunderbird. When I type run in Gnome Do, I go through the entire list without having Thunderbird as an option. The only plugin I can find is one that allows you to copy Thunderbird contacts to the clipboard.
I have set Thunderbird to be my default mail client, so when I type an email address I can choose to compose a mail in GNOME Do, but just opening up Thunderbird to check mail is not possible.

I see that each release of Ubuntu has only one supported version of Thunderbird - in case of Lucid Lynx it is 3.0 series. Is it possible for me to upgrade to 3.1 on Lucid Lynx through this official channel? I don't want the other two solutions to achieve this:
1. Download the latest Thunderbird directly from Mozilla website (No. Updating it manually for the next release is a pain and I don't want to get into it)

I recently got the problem that Thunderbird does not displays the messages anymore. The e-mails are downloaded form the server, a new email warning is given, but the e-mail cannot be displayed (in fact it is not loaded in the message window. I could only see the TB start page). I cannot even see the old messages.
However, when use "see message source" I can see the e-mails.
I also noticed this message in the error console:

On another linux box F9+ThB 2.0.0 I do not have that issue.
Today I upgraded to Fedora 13 + TB 3.1.1. This should be the latest one, but I still cannot see the message.
Also, on F13 I got another issue with Firefox 3.6.7. When I switch between the tabs, the tabs will turn black and will not get back to normal for 10-15 sec. It looks liek a random effect because often only part fo the page turns black. This issue appear in the windows of TB 3.1.1 since updated to F13.
My hardware is a Sony SR49 laptop with ATI mobility Radeon HD3470
Have Google chrome and this black page issue is not present. The same with Evolution mail, but I do not like it.
I know that you can select from a list, groups from plasma "search & launch" - but is it possible to create and add other groups. Also is it possible to change the kmail at the top of the display to thunderbird, which I use.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just installed 10.04 Lucid Lynx and have a serious graphics problem. I've attached a picture to show the problem.
Some Background:
Pentium 4 3.06GHz
1.5GB RAM
ATI Radeon 9600
I installed via liveUSB but had to choose the "nomodeset" option by pressing F6. Otherwise after the Ubuntu boot screen the graphics went like that in the attached image. The installation went fine (took less than 15 minutes!) but after the reboot the graphics problem returned. I can't see anything and the system is useless this way. I can't post up any logs (I'm typing this from the liveUSB).
When I booted my computer this morning (lucid lynx 10.04, 2.6.32-21) I found that it showed me a login box, much like normal, but that the text field where I type my username was about a pixel high and disabled. So I couldn't type my username, or password, and had to resort to a tty and links to get here and ask someone for help. I can't find anything on google that looks like people having the same issue and frankly I'm not even sure what is wrong.

After using wget -r, all the chapters are now in the same folder on my local hard drive. Is there a way to build the chapters in their proper order into a "long"/"full" web page, rather than simply having each chapter as a link/next link on a previous page?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just did the upgrade and I want to turn off the display after 30 minutes. I check that selection but the display does not turn off after 30 minutes. It is still on. I enabled this setting through the power management. The screen saver is on, go to blank display but the monitor does not turn off.
On Windows, dual boot on the same machine, the monitor does display off. I don't know if this is part of the problem or not, but when I go to "System -> Preferences", there are two different "Screensaver" options.
I recently updated to Ubuntu Lucid Lynx from Karmic (fresh install though). All of the packages I used in Karmic seem to work nicely in Lucid, with one exception gnome-rdp. I'm a sysadmin in several windows environments so as you can imagine I love the session storage and grouping features. Unfortunately gnome-rdp is not displaying the group names. it stores my session and creates the group structure just fine, it just doesn't show me the group names in the app or the right-click menu on the top panel icon. My gut says it has something to do with the new Lucid theme, but I like the new theme. Does anyone know of a config file I can edit, or something I can do to disable theme integration, just for gnome-rdp?

I'm having trouble displaying Xwindows programs on a remote machine. If I run "ssh -X newmachine" and I login and then run a program like xclock, I get the error message:
Error: Can't open display: localhost:10.0
If I run the same command to an anothermachine which is running Ubuntu 8.04 it works fine and xclock displays on my localmachine. If I run the command "echo $DISPLAY" on newmachine, I see:
localhost:10.0
Also, I have checked and xauth is installed on newmachine. What setting I have to change on Ubuntu 10.04 to allow remote display of Xwindows programs?

Lucid installed without any errors that I can see of off the main i386 installation CD, but after booting I get no display. Even in recovery mode. The monitor doesn't go into sleep mode and I can tell that the OS is actually running the background because I can do a Ctrl-Alt-Del and do a proper shutdown. I'm running an nvidia GT 9500. Everything is working fine on Karmic.

When karmic boots 2.6.31-21 and initrd.img has finished loading, and I have taken quiet splash out of boot line, I get nothing on the external display until gnome come up. Does the kernel driver only recognise internal displays until X takes over, or is there something wrong with the karmic 855GM kernel driver?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Lucid 64 connected to my 27" TV with 4:3 aspect ratio via s-video from an nVidia NV4 GeForce 6200SE TurboCache 256 MB card using the 173 driver set at 800X600. After hours (don't get on my case, this is the first time I've had hardware that would run well on a TV) and hours of tinkering I've gotten a feel for how to do this and have some pretty good results. However, I have two problems.
.01 The display isn't quite filling the entire screen. It's leaving about a .25 inch black bar all the way around the screen. This is negligible and if I can't fix it with only minor adjustments then so be it. I can live with it.
.02 This one isn't so minor. Many of the Windows are opening with portions of themselves cut off of, usually, the bottom of the screen. This makes, among other things, getting to the Close button rather impossible.

I recently got a Canon Powershot SD780 IS. It takes HD video at 780p. It's great, except that the videos won't display properly in Ubuntu Netbook Remix (Lucid) on my Dell Mini 10v.I've tried using Gstreamer (Banshee), Xine (Totem-xine), and MPlayer (GNOME MPlayer). These all should have worked, which makes me think something may be wrong either with the files themselves or my computer. Anyone have any idea what's going on here?FYI, when I pull up the Properties dialogue for one of the videos and look in the Audio/Video tab, it says:

Thanks to Lucid not working properly on i845, i855 and other 8xx chips, had to re-install Karmic on my mum's computer.I saved all the data from her old install and I ve managed to get all her old emails from thunderbird, but I cant import her address book.In Thunderbird/tools/import/addressbooks it only allows importing of LDIF, .tab, .csv and .txt files, but I cant find any of these files in any of the Thunderbird, .Thunderbird, Mozilla-Thunderbird or Mozilla folders in Home folder or anywhere, all I can find is "abook.mab" which IS supposed to be her address book, but when I try and import it the entries are blank and/or indecipherable (prob cos not a compatible file type).
Its one of those "simple" things to do, thats taken hours and hours of time, but that I cant actually find out how to do.
