I am using LuckyBackup to back up my laptop disk to a USB disk. I would like to display to the user the message "Please mount backup disk" and have the user click "OK". LuckyBackup has a feature to allow issuing commands before it does the backup. I have been investigating scripts (I have never written one.), but do not understand how to use them to this end.

The asterisk I downloaded came with Centos 5.3 It runs well on VM console But the problem is when It request for localhost login which accepts input but the password does not accept input at all.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHave a Compaq Presario SR1915AN desktop with a NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE it has a dual boot of Windows XP and Debian 5.0.6 which would only run in 800x600 mode.I decided to install Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop as this is what is on another different machine, thought it would be safe.The install wouldn't work, I would get the purple selections screen and first time chose the normal graphic mode, 10 seconds or so in to the install the scrren goes dead and i see the "No Signal Input" display show on the screen. Rebooted and selected text mode install, this time it fully installed but on reboot it again has the screen goes dead 10 seconds after you select from the Grub screen.

Im getting no sound at all. How can I change the screen resolution. 800 x 600 is the highest it will go. Im getting really discouraged with Ubuntu. This only happens when I manually turn the monitor off and then later turn it back on. Leaving the monitor on and allowing it to go to the screen saver doesn't seem to cause the issue (but I prefer to turn the monitor off if I'm going to be away from the computer for any length of time).

Acer X203w monitor
Radeon 9600 Pro Video card
Linux Mint 8 (Helena)
Resolution 1680 x 1050 (16:10 - Preferred native resolution for the monitor)

I just had it happen again. I tried unplugging the DVI cable from the back of the computer and then plugging it back in. The monitor then displayed the desktop properly. I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not in what I may need to change settings-wise.
I am trying to install debian as a DC but on reboot I get the "Input not supported " error. I switched to virtual input and login to try to edit the xorg.conf file but created a new file instead because the xorg.conf file is open by the installation. How do I close it so I can edit it and continue. I am afraid to start a new file as I am not sure what is in the ools one.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy monitor seems to have a slightly reddish tint when using the DVI input (it's a LCD, not a CRT). On the VGA input I can adjust the colors, but not on DVI. On OSX/Windows what I would do is create a custom color profile for that display with changed gamma/etc settings, but I cannot seem to find out how to do this under Linux. Is there any way to change the color profile under linux (short of buying color calibration hardware and using dispcalgui)?

M-W, Th-Fr, and Sat.The message argument does not work. When I try to boot into Ubuntu with the monitor attached I get a DVI: Cannot Display this Mode message on my monitor. I can boot into Ubuntu just fine if I detach the monitor. Have tried with VGA, but to no avail. I have the latest and greatest Nvidia drivers downloaded from the Nvidia web site. Googling indicates that this is a Dell problem, however, I am not sure about this. It worked just fine on my previous laptop (IBM T61) and Ubuntu 9.10, so I guess it has to do with the laptop and not Ubuntu 10.04.
how to program in C or C++, but I'm pretty decent with python ( I've only used this on Windows ) and I was wondering if there was a way I can display my notifications like that as well. If you could just tell me what causes these messages to display like this I'm sure I could do some investigating of my own.

The emails where this happens are always emails where the message is there both as text/plain and as text/html as alternative. If I view the source, everything is there. I recently got the problem that Thunderbird does not displays the messages anymore. The e-mails are downloaded form the server, a new email warning is given, but the e-mail cannot be displayed (in fact it is not loaded in the message window. I could only see the TB start page). I cannot even see the old messages.
However, when use "see message source" I can see the e-mails.
I also noticed this message in the error console:
server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555
I use Fedora 12 + thunderbird 3.0.6-1
On another linux box F9+ThB 2.0.0 I do not have that issue.
Today I upgraded to Fedora 13 + TB 3.1.1. This should be the latest one, but I still cannot see the message.
Also, on F13 I got another issue with Firefox 3.6.7. When I switch between the tabs, the tabs will turn black and will not get back to normal for 10-15 sec. It looks liek a random effect because often only part fo the page turns black. This issue appear in the windows of TB 3.1.1 since updated to F13.
My hardware is a Sony SR49 laptop with ATI mobility Radeon HD3470
Have Google chrome and this black page issue is not present. The same with Evolution mail, but I do not like it.
I need to display a message before any login on a Linux box, either locally and for remote login via SSH. How can I achieve this? "issue" and "Banner" are the two concepts I need to use to provide a message for every user before they log into the system.
