Fedora :: Thunderbird Does Not Display Message Content+

Jul 31, 2010

I recently got the problem that Thunderbird does not displays the messages anymore. The e-mails are downloaded form the server, a new email warning is given, but the e-mail cannot be displayed (in fact it is not loaded in the message window. I could only see the TB start page). I cannot even see the old messages.

However, when use "see message source" I can see the e-mails.

I also noticed this message in the error console:

server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555

I use Fedora 12 + thunderbird 3.0.6-1

On another linux box F9+ThB 2.0.0 I do not have that issue.

Today I upgraded to Fedora 13 + TB 3.1.1. This should be the latest one, but I still cannot see the message.

Also, on F13 I got another issue with Firefox 3.6.7. When I switch between the tabs, the tabs will turn black and will not get back to normal for 10-15 sec. It looks liek a random effect because often only part fo the page turns black. This issue appear in the windows of TB 3.1.1 since updated to F13.

My hardware is a Sony SR49 laptop with ATI mobility Radeon HD3470

Have Google chrome and this black page issue is not present. The same with Evolution mail, but I do not like it.

Ubuntu :: Thunderbird Does Not Display Message Body?

Nov 13, 2010

I am running Ubuntu 10.04. for a few emails I receive thunderbird does not display the message body (header is OK). The emails where this happens are always emails where the message is there both as text/plain and as text/html as alternative. If I view the source, everything is there. I have tried to choose View->Original HTML / Simple HTML / Plain Text, but none of them worked.

Ubuntu :: Thunderbird: Display Message List In Two Rows?

Jun 7, 2010

When you view mail in evolution in the vertical mode with the folders on the left, then the mail list in the middle and the message on the right, the mail list displays each message on two rows. But in thunderbird, the mail list is just in one row which means that much of the message header is not visible.

how to get thunderbird to display message lists using two rows per message?

Fedora :: Black Screen And Message - Cannot Display This Mode 2:dvi-d - During F11 Install

Sep 1, 2009

F9 has been running great since it came out. I read that one should install F10 before F11 so I did install F10! Everything went great.

(1) Then I tried to install the F11 iso dvd. After the "anaconda started" message at the bottom of a blue screen, the screen went blank and occasionally the message would appear: "cannot display this mode 2:dvi-d". Thinking the monitor had gone into power save, I hit many keys and moved the mouse to no avail.

I gave up! BTW I had checked all media CDs for errors.

(2) then working under F10, a little message appeared from the lower right of the screen asking if I wanted to upgrade to F11.

I accepted and again "cannot display this mode 2:dvi-d" on a black screen after anaconda started on a blue screen. This time no ISO DVD F11. I've never seen such an error message in 11 years (off and on) of using Linux. HD Disk activity was showing on the disk activity light so I let it run all night and part of today. I hit a bunch of keys and moved the mouse and the blue screen returned saying all was done and restarting.

After restart, I seem to have F11 installed. I did a yum update and got some more F11 updates. On the grub screen, the only F11 kernel was the PAE kernel which I selected
and got:

Does F11 have any F11 kernels? BTW running >setup (hd0,0) under F10 grub ruined my XP prof OS on scsi 0 so I reloaded XP Prof from scratch.

Questions:

(1) what is this "cannot display this mode 2:dvi-d"?

(2) Now I cannot boot to Fedora 11 and all the advice on how to reinstall grub has failed failed. Did a rescue and chroot /mnt/sysimage and the fdisk -l

Now XP Prof seems to be on /dev/sdc and Fedora on /dev/sdd. What do I do? In the meantime I have retreated to Fedora 10.

So I think that [DI might be some sort of escape sequence. But I do not know how to unescape it. Does anyone have a hint for me?

Ubuntu :: Can't Compose Message In Thunderbird

May 23, 2011

For some reason thunderbird randomly decided to stop letting my dad reply to emails with attachments. He can reply to normal emails, but as soon as he tries responding to an email with an attachment thunderbird just shows this:

Note the cutoff toolbar -- that might be a seperate issue though.

It will then show the above for all emails he tries responding to until I restart thunderbird.

I have tried:

1. Running Ubuntu classic with no effects.
2. Moving ~/.thunderbird
3. Changing the theme to clearlooks.
4. Resizing/maximizing/moving the window.

I have not installed or removed anything, the last upgrade I did was a few days ago, a bunch of qt libs were upgraded, along with firefox and openoffice.

My dad really likes thunderbird, and he needs to be able to reply to emails. I suppose I can set him up with Evolution if I have to, but he probably won't like that.

The folder structure is displayed correctly in Kmail. However, no emails are shown for some folders. Emails still live in the .kde4/share/app/kmail directory hierarchy and can be imported into a new folder after moving them somewhere else. However, even after a fresh import sometimes emails are no longer recognized.

KMail 1.11.4, KDE 4.2.4: I'm migrating from WinXP to Mandriva, and installed KMail at the weekend. Works fine, but I have a niggle - the message list displays headers grouped by month order. I'd like the option of having a simple list (no groups), and suspect that it could be done - but I haven't been able to find out how. I've checked in the Handbook without success, and a search in LQ hasn't turned up anything yet.Any suggestions gratefully received. If this isn't the right place for a KMail query,

Ubuntu :: Thunderbird Messages Don't Display Correctly

Aug 28, 2010

I am having problems with Thunderbird in Ubuntu Lucid. I am not sure since when. It could have been since I upgraded to Lucid from Karmic. When I open Thunderbird, a message pops up that is supposed to ask me for the password. However, it is all blank inside and doesn't display the text. I found that after I click on ALT+TAB a few times, the message displays correctly. This is very strange. Is anyone else having (or had) the same problem? Does anyone have an idea for a fix?I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling but it didn't work out (I didn't "purge" though).

Ubuntu :: GNOME Won't Display Thunderbird As A Program To Run / Enable This?

Aug 29, 2010

I installed the latest version of Thunderbird by downloading the tarball and copying the contents to the required folder and just point launchers to the Thunderbird file.
However I cannot get GNOME Do to run Thunderbird. When I type run in Gnome Do, I go through the entire list without having Thunderbird as an option. The only plugin I can find is one that allows you to copy Thunderbird contacts to the clipboard.
I have set Thunderbird to be my default mail client, so when I type an email address I can choose to compose a mail in GNOME Do, but just opening up Thunderbird to check mail is not possible.

Ubuntu :: Every Time Open A .conf File It Pops The "Do You Want To Run Or Display Its Content?"

Sep 16, 2010

I'm working with .conf files which I need to edit (with gedit for example) and an .sh file which I need to run occasionally.

And every time I open a .conf file it pops the "Do you want to run or display its content?" question.

I tried to configure Nautilus to stop prompting me every time by setting the Edit->Preferences->Behavior to Run executable text files when they are opened.

But now every time I try to run the .sh file it opens it in gedit instead of running it.

Is there anyway to set the behavior for specific file types?

Like so it'd open the .conf files in a text editor and run the .sh files?

(Maybe I should mention that I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 with Gnome)

Besides Clean Installing F13, is there anything I can do to fix this? Note:In either case the file is not moved at all.

When I try to boot into Ubuntu with the monitor attached I get a DVI: Cannot Display this Mode message on my monitor. I can boot into Ubuntu just fine if I detach the monitor. Have tried with VGA, but to no avail. I have the latest and greatest Nvidia drivers downloaded from the Nvidia web site. Googling indicates that this is a Dell problem, however, I am not sure about this. It worked just fine on my previous laptop (IBM T61) and Ubuntu 9.10, so I guess it has to do with the laptop and not Ubuntu 10.04.
