Ubuntu :: Proper Analog Controller With Joypad/controller Mupen64plus?
Sep 15, 2010
Basically i want it so that the analogue stick on my PS2 controller, which connects via a USB adaptor and is recognized, correctly controls in game characters. It seems to work fine enough in platformers, at least it does with Banjo Kazooie, but with games like perfect Dark it seem to be trying to move forward and look down at the same time, also backward and look up simultaneously and look sideways and move sideways simultaneously , rendering the game all but unplayable.
I have tried running jscal and, apart from the fact that it seems a bit beyond me, it reports "jscal: missing devicename" when i try to run "jscal -c". Do others out there have there analogue sticks working correctly with games like Perfect Dark, or the James Bond games, for example?

I can not get the node or cloud controllers to startup using the init.d scripts. I have a fresh install of CentOS 5.4 with Eucalyptus 1.6.2 I have compiled Eucalyptus and all packages using the RPM supplied from Eucalyptus and utilizing yum installer. I do not currently have any processes or applications listening currently on the ports on the boxes as well. I think it may be a permissions issue or something because I get a "permission denied error", but I am not sure if it is Eucalyptus or CentOS. It looks as if it is not binding to the address on the interface of the NIC. It may be something else however. I have the Node controller, Cloud controller, and Cluster controller on seperate physical boxes. When I try to run either the cloud controller or the node controller I get this message:
Cloud Controller:
[root@cluster-cont ~]# /etc/init.d/eucalyptus-cc start
Starting Eucalyptus cluster controller: (13)Permission denied: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:8774
(13)Permission denied: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:8774

At the school i work in i have a server2k3 server that provides a domain to all the windows clients, aswell as a fedora server that acts as an imaging machine and webserver.
Im rather concious of the fact that if for any reason the Server2k3 server was to die there is no backup of active directory, or anything that can take its place whilst a replacement is found.
So is it possible to use a fedora machine with samba as a secondary domain controller? so it can be used as a login server, and has a copy of AD.

what kind of network between cloud controller and nodes, is required for a proper cloud installation? I mean, Does all machines needs to be in same network, in same lan, or may be in MAN or WAN ? how much should be network throughput? 1Mbit/sec , 10Mbit per sec, or 1Gbit/sec? I ask because I need to know the possibility of running nodes on different locations.

I'm trying to find a reasonably priced PCI to IDE controller that will work under Karmic. I have just built up a new PC which has SATA HDDs and want to put my old IDE drives in it. It has only one IDE interface on the mobo which I've got my DVD/CD drive on.
My research so far has found users have tried in the past with varying success.

I am attempting to upgrade my system to remove the two aging IDE drives and replace them with four SATA drives. I already have one SATA drive, which means I need a total of 5 SATA ports. My motherboard has two, while I had an existing PCI controller card (Promise TX2-Plus) with two ports. I purchased another card that uses the Sil3112 chip with two ports of its own.I have been running with the one Promise card with no problems for quite some time; lspci output is
Code:
sarmitage@ophelia:~$ lspci
00:00.0 Host bridge: nVidia Corporation nForce2 IGP2 (rev c1)
00:00.1 RAM memory: nVidia Corporation nForce2 Memory Controller 1 (rev c1)
00:00.2 RAM memory: nVidia Corporation nForce2 Memory Controller 4 (rev c1)[code]....
how I can get these two cards working together?

I've bought a small embedded controller running with a minimized Lenny for armel. Minimized in a way that there is even no apt-get or dpkg installed on it, due to keep the memory footprint as small as possible. Is there a way to keep a "shadow" system in a directory on my Laptop (e.g. ~/armel), maintained with dependencies by a package manager like apt-get? This would allow to install addition packages including all dependent with a simple apt-get call.Of course, later I have to put the whole tree from my Laptop towards my embedded controller. I've already tried the following:Setup a directory tree behind ~/armel for apt by a copy from my laptops Lenny
"sudo apt-get -o DIR=~/armel -o APT::Architecture=armel update"
to get the repositories, this works fine
"sudo apt-get -o DIR=~/armel -o APT::Architecture=armel -d -f install"
to download the full list of .deb packages, this works fine

I want to add a new IDE controller, to the one I already have on board (I have only one). I disable the on board controller in order to boot the same disk using the new IDE controller.
The problem is that when I get to Grub it does not know where to boot from.
The system should boot from hd0,0 but it can't find it. I tried hd1, hd2 and hd3. None of them worked.
Do I need to edit Grub before installing the extra IDE controller?

I'm having a problem with the installation of Ubuntu Server 10.04 64bit on my IBM xSeries 346 Type 8840. During the installation the system won't recognize any disk, so it's asking which driver it should use for the RAID controller. There's a list of options, but nothing seems to work. I've been searching the IBM website for an appropriate driver, but there is no Ubuntu version (there is Red Hat, SUSE, etc). I was thinking about downloading the correct driver onto a floppy disk to finalize the installation, but apparently no 'general' Linux driver to solve the problem here.

I'm having a problem connecting a motion controller through the Ethernet port. Here is what it does If I connect the Ethernet cable from the computer to the controller, the connection is not recognized. If I connect it from the computer to my router, it will connect automatically. If the computer is connected to the router, and I unplug the router and quickly connect the controller, it will automatically recognize it.Also, when I connect the controller with quickly unplugging the router, I can't manually connect it using the wired connection "Auto eth 2". When I click on it, it thinks for a while and then says Wired Network Disconnected.
Is there a way to initialize the Ethernet port automatically to recognize the motion controller, or is there a way to do it using C++ (that is what I'm suing to communicate to the card since it has special libraries) I find this kind of weird. I want to just be able to plug in the controller and be able to use it.

I've just begun with a fresh USB install of Ubuntu 11.04, and have run into the seemingly standard wireless network issue with the Broadcom 4311. I've read countless posts on this forum, and have installed the STA driver "proprietary..." through the GUI driver installer.
The usual symptoms seem to persist; I can connect to the network using my wired connection, but when I unplug no wireless network connections kick in, or show up, or seem to be responsive anywhere..Also, I should note that I've read the forum post HERE but without much further understanding or resolution.

It is possible to use the sixaxis as a joystick. But how?
For a year and a half I've been trying to get sixaxis working on ubuntu, and there appear to be even less options on debian.
While this page suggests there is kernel support, usbmon doesn't show any packages coming down the line at all (But lsusb does recognize the device)
So how do I get debian to recognize the sixaxis?

I bought a PCIE USB 3.0 controller card for my computer and now I'm trying to get it to work. I read that there's an issue with standby mode and for that reason it has been disabled in F14. [URL] I also read the instructions on how to activate it and tried adding xhci.enable=1 or xhci_hcd.enable=1 to the kernel line in grub, but none of it worked. The controller chip is a "NEC Corporation uPD720200 USB 3.0 Host Controller" and I also tried it with a Fedora 12 Live CD where it worked pretty well. when this bug will be fixed and it will be activated by default?

Does Debian have any particular tools or nuances for installing new hardware? I saw some stuff on Ubuntu which is related... but you know.
The dmesg file shows that it's being recognized, but I don't think it's actually being used (i.e. there is no driver installed). This is what's in the dmesg file:
Code:
[ 1.384634] Block layer SCSI generic (bsg) driver version 0.4 loaded (major 253)
[ 1.855496] SCSI subsystem initialized
[ 5.146598] scsi0 : ioc0: LSI53C1020A A1, FwRev=01032700h, Ports=1, MaxQ=255, IRQ=16
[Code]....
Unless someone has already compiled a driver for Debian Lenny for this hardware, I'm going to have to compile my own I guess. The driver package seems to come with something called mptlinux-4.00.43.00-src.tar.gz which I'm guessing can be compiled for any Linux, but looking at the instructions, it's pretty much beyond me how to get started. It talks about using kernel source to build a module and such and such.

I am trying to get back into Linux after not touching it for several years. I have an HP ML330 G3 with a CSB-6 controller and no diskette drive to experiment with. I have been unsuccessful trying to install Mandriva 2010 or Fedora 12. A little research reveals that the problem is with the CSB-6 controller, but I've been unable to find a way to correct this with these particular versions. recommend a distro I can download that will work with this hardware without recompiling?
