Sep 15, 2010Basically i want it so that the analogue stick on my PS2 controller, which connects via a USB adaptor and is recognized, correctly controls in game characters. It seems to work fine enough in platformers, at least it does with Banjo Kazooie, but with games like perfect Dark it seem to be trying to move forward and look down at the same time, also backward and look up simultaneously and look sideways and move sideways simultaneously , rendering the game all but unplayable.
I have tried running jscal and, apart from the fact that it seems a bit beyond me, it reports "jscal: missing devicename" when i try to run "jscal -c". Do others out there have there analogue sticks working correctly with games like Perfect Dark, or the James Bond games, for example?
CentOS 5 :: Eucalyptus Node Controller And Cloud Controller Apps Won't Bind To IP
Jun 18, 2010I can not get the node or cloud controllers to startup using the init.d scripts. I have a fresh install of CentOS 5.4 with Eucalyptus 1.6.2 I have compiled Eucalyptus and all packages using the RPM supplied from Eucalyptus and utilizing yum installer. I do not currently have any processes or applications listening currently on the ports on the boxes as well. I think it may be a permissions issue or something because I get a "permission denied error", but I am not sure if it is Eucalyptus or CentOS. It looks as if it is not binding to the address on the interface of the NIC. It may be something else however. I have the Node controller, Cloud controller, and Cluster controller on seperate physical boxes. When I try to run either the cloud controller or the node controller I get this message:

Fedora Networking :: Windows Sever 2k3 Domain Controller / Use Machine With Samba As Secondary Domain Controller?
Apr 28, 2009At the school i work in i have a server2k3 server that provides a domain to all the windows clients, aswell as a fedora server that acts as an imaging machine and webserver.
Im rather concious of the fact that if for any reason the Server2k3 server was to die there is no backup of active directory, or anything that can take its place whilst a replacement is found.
So is it possible to use a fedora machine with samba as a secondary domain controller? so it can be used as a login server, and has a copy of AD.

Jun 3, 2010I'm having a problem with the installation of Ubuntu Server 10.04 64bit on my IBM xSeries 346 Type 8840. During the installation the system won't recognize any disk, so it's asking which driver it should use for the RAID controller. There's a list of options, but nothing seems to work. I've been searching the IBM website for an appropriate driver, but there is no Ubuntu version (there is Red Hat, SUSE, etc). I was thinking about downloading the correct driver onto a floppy disk to finalize the installation, but apparently no 'general' Linux driver to solve the problem here.

Jun 9, 2010I'm having a problem connecting a motion controller through the Ethernet port. Here is what it does If I connect the Ethernet cable from the computer to the controller, the connection is not recognized. If I connect it from the computer to my router, it will connect automatically. If the computer is connected to the router, and I unplug the router and quickly connect the controller, it will automatically recognize it.Also, when I connect the controller with quickly unplugging the router, I can't manually connect it using the wired connection "Auto eth 2". When I click on it, it thinks for a while and then says Wired Network Disconnected.
Is there a way to initialize the Ethernet port automatically to recognize the motion controller, or is there a way to do it using C++ (that is what I'm suing to communicate to the card since it has special libraries) I find this kind of weird. I want to just be able to plug in the controller and be able to use it.

May 26, 2011I've just begun with a fresh USB install of Ubuntu 11.04, and have run into the seemingly standard wireless network issue with the Broadcom 4311. I've read countless posts on this forum, and have installed the STA driver "proprietary..." through the GUI driver installer.
The usual symptoms seem to persist; I can connect to the network using my wired connection, but when I unplug no wireless network connections kick in, or show up, or seem to be responsive anywhere..Also, I should note that I've read the forum post HERE but without much further understanding or resolution.

Feb 11, 2010i am using ubuntu media on a desktop for all of my multimedia needs and i just installed jaunty (alt install) on an old gateway solo laptop(266 mhz and 186mb ram) to use as my controller/remote using desktop sharing, the problem is the laptop can't keep up with the desktop and everything is all jerky (especially watching dvds). So here are the questions, what can i uninstall from the laptop to make performance better and/or is there another option short of buying a wireless keyboard/mouse (I'm poor and use what I have(besides i like having an up-close display for text and stuff)).

Mar 23, 2010I just installed the latest version of Mint xfce on my old inspiron 8000 with a microsoft MN-120 pci ethernet card, and though the card shows up as hardware, it is not recognized as a network interface. I believe there is no driver loaded for it.
It's an old card, but it seems the kernel still supports it. There are instructions for activating the dc driver that appears to be the proper driver for this chip set, but those instructions originated from freebsd and I'm not sure they translate well. See here:[URL]
I did find a kernel config file, but I was afraid to add the suggested lines to it because there were no other lines specifying "devices". They all started with "config".

I am running the install on an old Dell 8400. My PC has an Intel RAID Controller built into the MB. I have 1 HDD (without RAID) (which is houses my OS install) and then I have 2 1TB drives (These are just NTFS formatted drives with binary files on them nothing more.) in a RAID 1 (Mirroring) Array. The Intel RAID Controller on Boot recognizes the Array as it always has (irrespective of which OS is installed) however, unlike Windows 7 (where I was able to install the Intel RAID controller driver) .Does anyone know of a resolution (which doesn't involve formatting and / or use of some other software RAID solution) - to get this working which my searches have not taken me too?

Oct 22, 2010I have a Dell PE 600 box with 2 Adaptec 2110s U160 Single Channel RAID controller supported 6 HDDs.I am trying to install Ubuntu from a mini ISO - tried server / desktop / alternate as well. And also different Ubuntu versions.The mini installer runs upto setting the time zone (after configuring for DHCP et.al.) and then on the screen 'Detecting Disks and Other Hardware' hangs up.Now I am assuming its because of the fact that I have 2 of the above controllers - as I have another similar box with only 1 of the controllers and it installs/boots fine with no problems.Look forward to you suggestions/help and if there is any other info I can provide. I plan to set up Ubuntu 10.10 server on it. Btw I don't think its a Linux problem as SUSE 11.3 installs fine on the box.

Dec 19, 2010When I used the LiveCD, it made me give it a password for the keyring, I made it lol, because it's a livecd session. After I installed, the wireless controller asked for the password again. I then changed it. When I installed Ubuntu previously, it didn't ask me for any of that, it just defaulted the keyring password to my user password or something like that and asked me if the wireless controller should have access ONCE. Now every time I boot I need to type the keyring password in again.

Mar 31, 2011I'm having a problem here with my graphics card. Until not very long ago I was using the controller Ubuntu downloaded for me. However I recently downloaded another one from the ATI page, called ati-driver-installer-11-3-x86.x86_64.run and installed it.
So far, I've encountered two new problems:
1. The ATI Catalyst Control Center would not open after I setup the Tear Free Desktop.
2. The computer is running slow. Files take longer to open, minimizing and maximizing windows takes longer. Wi-fi connection takes longer to connect, etcetera. Overall, everything is going slow.
Are these problems related? I would like to uninstall the driver as the computer was working just fine before. In addition to this, I have firefox 4.0 and the colors on most of the images are darker than they should. The images look fine on other browsers except firefox. I read I had to do type "about:config" in the address bar, find "gfx.color_management.mode" and change the value from 2 to 0. What did I exactly do there? I took the advice from this thread: [URL]

This would allow to install addition packages including all dependent with a simple apt-get call.Of course, later I have to put the whole tree from my Laptop towards my embedded controller. CentOS 5 :: Adding A New IDE Controller?
Sep 15, 2009I want to add a new IDE controller, to the one I already have on board (I have only one). I disable the on board controller in order to boot the same disk using the new IDE controller.
The problem is that when I get to Grub it does not know where to boot from.
The system should boot from hd0,0 but it can't find it. I tried hd1, hd2 and hd3. None of them worked.
Do I need to edit Grub before installing the extra IDE controller?
