May 16, 2011I have Ubuntu 7.04 64-bit PC disc but unfortunately it dose not have Wubi Installer. How can I get Wubi Installer and the disc has no space it just contains Ubuntu. I want to install it from windows so that my Files should be intact and along with that I want it to be able to execute my Windows.

I succesfully installed the 'Ubuntu 10.04' 5 months ago but I had to unsintall it because apparently I got a virus when in a google search I clicked one video of cryptozoology (won't tell) and the screen went black or something. For the first time that pc frozen 3-4 times, so I was afraid I got a virus.Now I want to install the Ubuntu again but the Wubi windows keeps asking me for my password to continue.Okay, the problem is that I am using the correct pasword but still is asking me to use the correct one.

Sep 20, 2010I backed up all my Wubi-files + the boot.ini etc. I reinstalled my Windows OS, then put my Wubi-files on a new partition D: . Put the wubildr.mdr file + wubildr in the C: dir. Changed the boot.ini to C:wubildr.mdr = "Ubuntu" . But when I select Ubuntu in the boot manager I get an error message (Couldn't load Windows, ntoskrnl corrupt - or something).What do I do wrong? Can't I just install a new Wubi using the installer and then replace the disk-file by the old one?

Feb 22, 2010I ran the Wubi installer for Kubuntu 9.10 from XP on my old IBM Thinkpad T30. After install the system rebooted (complete with grub menu) and the KDE desktop launch successfully, however the task bar and menus are fuzzy, distorted and unreadable when I click them. Do I just need to change my display resolution? How do I do this without being able to see a menu?

Mar 5, 2010On my MS Vista 64bit machine, I installed Ubuntu through WUBI (some time in 2010) and was happily booting one or the other as needed. Then I added kubuntu-desktop (using Synaptic).Now, when I reboot, the Windows Boot Manager still offers Vista and Ubuntu as boot options. But Ubuntu, rather than boot, goes to a grub shell. I found a GrubHowto that includes "Manual boot into a Linux OS" - but it seems to suggest that clean Karmic installs use Grub2 and the Howto instructions apply only to Grub. I don't know if the WUBI install was Karmic or something older. I don't know anything about using grub manually.And I don't know how to get my (k)ubuntu back!

Jul 22, 2011today i've installed kubuntu with wubi for windows 7 on my hp pavilion dv6 with processor Intel Core i7 Q720 @1.60GHz with 4 Gb of RAM @ 64bit with NVIDIA Geforce GT 230M but i've had some problems.Infact the system continued to freeze after some minutes due to overheating so i restarted the computer and the Bios told me that to prevent damage to internal components the computer has been freezed. I repeated the process and i checked out the temperature with the desktop widget and it actually reached after some minutes 80-85� C so i cleaned the computer and the temperature turned back to normal (50-60�C) but the problem continued to exist! After several minutes the computer freezed again and the BIOS told me the same things he told me before (90� and computer freezed due to prevent damage for overheating).

Apr 3, 2011i am using unetbootin to create a live-usb of this iso: freemed-live-0.1-i386.iso (i think it is based on kubuntu). when i turn on my netbook with the usb plugged in i get about 6 menu items (default, live, live expert, linux, ...) but no matter which i select it takes me to some ubuntu text install where it is asking me to select language and keyboard layout.
is there a way make it boot to the live desktop ?

If there is not, would it be possible to implement that?It seems these days that installations through synaptic seem to take ages to download files. While downloading the files, ubuntu will not let you run any other package manager. So if I am updating my system or installing several programs through synaptic, I am unable to install anything else. For example a deb file ive downloaded, or i would like to install a single program while all these other files download.
I can understand not being able to install multiple things at once, but why is it not possible to install things while it downloads the files? Sometimes it days several hours/days to download the files.
Ubuntu :: 9.10 - Grub2 Not Detecting Win 7 Installations
Mar 10, 2010I have Ubuntu 9.10 and Win7 both installed on my desktop. I use Windows for gaming (when I actually have the chance...) Anyway, for some reason update-grub is not detecting my Win7 installation, neither is os-prober. I attempted to add a custom Grub2 entry to point to Windows 7, however, when I select it from Grub, I simply get a black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper-left, after waiting 20 minutes, Windows still hadn't loaded.
Here are hopefully all the relevant files:
