OpenSUSE Install :: Open Suse 11.3 Along With Win 2008 R2 OS - Error "Win2008 R2 Is Not Supported In Open Suse Installer"
Mar 6, 2011I am trying to Install Open Suse 11.3 (burned as an ISO DVD) along with existing Win 2008 R2 OS. When I try to boot from the DVD it just logs in to Win2008 though boot from CD/DVD is enabled in the boot sequence. So i tried to mount the ISO and run from Windows ! BUT I get an error before installation starts telling that Win2008 R2 is not supported in open suse installer! Is there anything I can do to overcome this and install/retain both OS? In fact I am even trying to c hange my win2008 from R2 to Enterprise to see if I can overcome the problem!

Jun 4, 2011I am in possession of a new HP HPE-570f PC which I bought this morning. This has AMD Phenon 1090T and AMD Radeon HD 6770 graphics card. The OEM Windows 7 works fine. When I try to install Suse 11.4 using same DVD that works on my other (older) machine, I see the Suse Installation screen from which I select "installation", then comes the "Loading Linux Kernel" progress bar. As soon as the progress bar gets to the end, the computer reboots! Then of course I end up back at the Installation screen since the DVD is still in the drive.

Aug 16, 2011i've tried both the gnome and kde installers and initially it boots fine to the first menu, but if i then select 'installation' or even try to boot to the live cd, the screen goes blank and then reappears as something that looks like the static on your television if you're trying to tune it in. if you let it continue to boot, then it goes blank again and comes back with a different corrupted screen, but this time you have a white block in the middle that is apparently the mouse point as i can then move it around.
i've tried it in VESA mode and even text mode and the same thing happens. the installation media checks out fine, and my graphics card is brand new - a Radeon 3650 HD. I might try an older version of suse and try and upgrade from there

Jun 14, 2011I hope this is the right forum in which to post this but I am currently running SUSE 11.2(I know im a couple versions back, its a long story but this box has been in storage for awhile) but the problem I am having is with updating SUSE and accessing the repositories through the Yast Software Installer. When I open it I get several variations of this message:
Download failed:
File '/repodata/repomd.xml' not found on medium '[URL].. I think this must have something to do with an old repository not being up but im not exactly sure how to fix this.
Ubuntu Installation :: Can't Install New Wubi Using Installer
Sep 20, 2010I backed up all my Wubi-files + the boot.ini etc. I reinstalled my Windows OS, then put my Wubi-files on a new partition D: . Put the wubildr.mdr file + wubildr in the C: dir. Changed the boot.ini to C:wubildr.mdr = "Ubuntu" . But when I select Ubuntu in the boot manager I get an error message (Couldn't load Windows, ntoskrnl corrupt - or something).What do I do wrong? Can't I just install a new Wubi using the installer and then replace the disk-file by the old one?

Mar 11, 2011When I click download DVD 4.7 GB, on any browser (I tried in Firefox, Opera and Chrome) It started to download 4.3 GB instead of 4.7- The first Download was 4.2 GB and I though that was wright, but the checksum didn't match. Now It started download only 4.3 GB Why is that? How can I solve this ?
