View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a second computer now. I succesfully installed the 'Ubuntu 10.04' 5 months ago but I had to unsintall it because apparently I got a virus when in a google search I clicked one video of cryptozoology (won't tell) and the screen went black or something. For the first time that pc frozen 3-4 times, so I was afraid I got a virus.Now I want to install the Ubuntu again but the Wubi windows keeps asking me for my password to continue.Okay, the problem is that I am using the correct pasword but still is asking me to use the correct one.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to download wubi to intstall Ubuntu to run alongside an existing windows intallation. However, it was taking ages so I cancelled and tried again and each time it seems to be requiring more time. I'm now up to 200 hours of required time!

View 6 Replies View RelatedI backed up all my Wubi-files + the boot.ini etc. I reinstalled my Windows OS, then put my Wubi-files on a new partition D: . Put the wubildr.mdr file + wubildr in the C: dir. Changed the boot.ini to C:wubildr.mdr = "Ubuntu" . But when I select Ubuntu in the boot manager I get an error message (Couldn't load Windows, ntoskrnl corrupt - or something).What do I do wrong? Can't I just install a new Wubi using the installer and then replace the disk-file by the old one?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've tried several times over the past day to install Ubuntu Netbook using Wubi but it kept on failing after the download of the ISO. After checking the log, I notice that it complains that 10.04 != 10.04.1 regarding the version. For the netbook, the ISO downloaded is indeed 10.04 while the installation title says it is installing 10.04.1.
I am sure that there is an easy fix for this in Wubi. I've used Wubi in the past and I am quite happy about it. This is not the proper place for it, but I'ld like to see the installation type support VirtualBox too - i.e., the Ubuntu setup installed by Wubi should be able to run inside VirtualBox.
I got the xubuntu-10.04-desktop-i386.iso file in a folder with WUBI but it still keeps trying to downlaod the amd64 version. how can I stop this?
View 6 Replies View Related"no need to burn a CD. Just run the installer, enter a password for the new account, and click "Install", go grab a coffee, and when you are back, Ubuntu will be ready for you." that's what it says on the wubi page. I did exactly that, then it asks to reboot which I did, and still no ubuntu. All I have is 3 folders, one icon and one application.
disks
install
winboot
ubuntu (just an icon, nothing happens when I click on it, just an image pops up) and uninstall-wubi.
Keep getting the same error message trying to install via Wubi under Windows XP. When I download and run wubi.exe, I get an error message that I can't dismiss that reads: Windows - No Disk There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive .(sic) I've tried downloading the appropriate .iso and putting it in the same directory as wubi
View 2 Replies View RelatedLooks like the following command does it:
Code:
wget http://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/$(curl -s http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/linux/Pages/radeon_linux.aspx | sed -n 's/^.*(ati-driver-installer[^"]*)">.*/1/p')
I'll add it in atiupgrade soon, so it will try this before the version hardcoded in the script.
I'm trying to download / execute the Centos 5 64bit auto installer: [URL] Once obtained, how do I run that script?

I'm new to linux, and I'm just trying to learn OpenSUSE. I just installed it and I have a few quick questions. #1 I accidentally installed the "OpenSUSE Installer (LOCAL)" on Windows 7, so now I get the option to choose windows or the installer at the windows boot screen. I ended up just installing OpenSUSE on a completely different HD (my original intent) from a burned DVD, so this installer is useless and I don't know how to remove it.
#2 After installing opensuse on my second HD, the boot screen is now SUSE's instead of Windows, and I can choose suse's desktop, the suse failsafe, windows 1, and windows 2. Windows 1 brings me to the windows boot screen with the choice i mentioned above (windows or the local installer i accidentally installed), and windows 2 i assume is my second windows partition which is just my SWAP file, and selecting it does nothing (which would make sense if thats all it is).
My question here is how do I make it so my default boot screen is the windows one with an option between windows 7 or suse? Or would this require reinstalling the system? If it does and its simple enough to explain please do I wouldnt mind removing it and reinstalling at this point, I would just wipe my whole second HD from windows.
#3 I have a netgear adapter. unfortunitly i'm not at home right now and I don't remember the model, so I'll provide that this evening if necessary. What I do know is they do not have a driver for linux. I've found ACX100, but I didn't find my netgear adapter listed on their website. I also found NDISWrapper, but thats for XP and I still don't know if that'll work. I will of course try both unless someone here has a better solution. If anyone knows anything that will work on any netgear adapter for linux please let me know, if not then I'll provide the model later on.
WUBI says that when i try to install ubuntu and kubuntu netbook remixs with windows 7.I have an ubuntu netbook .iso but i dont know where the directory is.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed Ubuntu on my windows using Wubi. Is it possible to Uninstall windows and remain with Wubi and make Ubuntu the Operating system?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am preparing to install Ubuntu server to run the server I am building. Both the server and Ubuntu are new to me. In preparation to this I installed Wubi on my Windows 7 laptop. It installed nicely and works smoothly. Unfortunately when I went back into W7 it has crashed 5 times in a row. Sometimes I got 5 minutes into the running of windows. The last time it crashed before I could even log in. I am unable to determine what is going on as i can't get around in my Windows for very long. Fortunately the Ubuntu side of my computer is still working well.
My W7 install is on a smaller partition (80GB). Would the Wubi installed on this same partition and maybe crowding the W7 install? Should I create another partition to install the Wubi onto or just install a Ubuntu on a separate partition? How should i go about troubleshooting this?
I know Wubi does not delete Windows or format the drive, but I have a desktop with a wireless Logitech mouse. Would Ubuntu let me use the mouse, or would it not have the driver? Also, I would like to know how to uninstall Ubuntu.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo, I converted a Vista user by enticing her with WUBI. She's a computer idiot, and she thinks Linux is great.
HOWEVER, she recently had Ubuntu muck up for her, so she uninstalled WUBI/Ubuntu and reinstalled it (9.10). Upon restart, GRUB presented no boot menu and went straight into Ubuntu. The funny thing is, under the GRUB configuration files, the timeout for the boot menu is set to 10. I tried the following (made sure to change the boot device to hda1,0 since fdisk shows her NTFS as /dev/sdb1):

No luck. No boot menu, no Windows option. I also tried the following:
Manual Windows Entry (with /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober made unexecutable)
Code:
#! /bin/sh -e
echo "Adding Windows 43_custom" >&2
menuentry "Windows Vista 43_custom" {
insmod ntfs

Using THIS method, the boot loader did appear, but there was no Windows option. Odd. So, I'm at a blocking point. Yes, I was smart enough to run update-grub Thoughts? My replies may be a bit delayed - she's 2 hours away and I don't have direct access to her computer.
