I have installed the synckolab add-on in thunderbird to synchronize with my citadel server. The calendar and tasks in te server are synchronized to my client, but not the other way round, i.e. the changes in thunderbird are not written to citadel. Contacts get synchronized ok, in both directions.

Has anybody on this list set up a working synchronization of calendar and task items with synckolab?
I use Thunderbird in different computers so I configured it so that the datas are on an external drive. It works fine except that it seems that the contacts are still saved on the different computers and not on the external drive. It is strange since I have all datas for each profile on my external drive and all Mail and folders are there. I use different versions of Thunderbird (3.1 and under). how I could also have my contacts datas on my external drive?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been struggling to set up and learn to use an efficient way of task & event management. At the moment, I use Thunderbird+Lightning with Gmail (IMAP) and it works OK. I would like to add a smartphone to the equation - I know it isn't cheap and I'm expecting to pay anywhere between $100 and $500 for one - since my old phone is slowly dying anyway and I need this to work for... well, work. I would like to be able to synchronize through bluetooth or wireless at home or whenever the phone gets near my laptop, as well as (if possible) whenever the phone gets near a wireless access point. I don't want to use 3g or any similar services. I have had no luck googling so far.
I have tried synchronizing with Google Calendar, only to be disappointed by the fact that it doesn't support tasks. I think the distinction between tasks and events is an important one and it keeps my calendar organized, so I'd hate to have to give it up. I haven't chosen a phone yet, so I can adjust my choice to whichever brand or type (or OS) is best suited for what I need.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running an installation of Scientific Linux 6.0 (it is literally RHEL 6 minus the brand), and have successfully setup Citadel Groupware, and synced it with a Mozilla Thunderbird client with the Lightning calendar extension. It is very nice!
However, for the Citadel server to sync with my iPhone, I need to, and have have downloaded and successfully started the latest Groupware Sync Server from here. The Groupware Sync Server is basically an installation of Funambol, specially made to work with Citadel.
I tried to connect to the server from my iPhone with the Funambol connector app, and the Synthesis SyncML app, but none of them worked when I pointed them to: http://[hostname]:8080/funambol/ds (which is what the Groupware Sync Server documentation told me). Of course, I replaced [hostname] with my actual hostname.
I checked the logs of both sync apps, and they both say the following:

On the Citadel and Groupware Sync Server forums, I was told that error 506 meant its something on the server going on, so I got the two relevant log files, /opt/Funambol/logs/ds-server/ds-server.log, and /opt/tools/tomcat/logs/catalina.out (the links point to pastebins of the output).
What does "error 506" mean, and how do I correct it?
BTW, I disabled my entire firewall just in case that was the issue.

I am trying to synchronize the time of my VM server with ntpd. I have the following configuration. And in the /etc/ntp.conf, I have the following line:
restrict default ignore
restrict 127.0.0.1.
server time1.server
server time2.server
Whenever I have this line, the erver is not able to synchronize its time... So far as I understood, this line prevents other servers using this machine as a time server. And the second line says to allow localhost to use as time server. But why do I need to use its own time server when I have specified to use time1.server and time2.server ? ( firewall for tcp and udp ports 123 is open)
However, when I replace the first line of the configuration with the following line, it works. restrict default kod nomodify notrap noquery But with this, i am allowing other servers to use this server a ntp (which I wouldn't like to). Why this machine tries to use ntp server of its own (to snyc time) and why it is not working though i have the entry "restrict 127.0.0.1" ??

I had a portable apps version of Thunderbird (windows) that runs off a thumb drive and wanted to take the settings and transfer them to my Thunderbird that's on my Linux computer.
This is what I did:
First, I installed thunderbird on my Ubuntu 10.04 Linux box and opened it, and closed it (so that it would create the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder in the user account).
Then, I renamed the linux /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder to .thunderbird_ORIGINAL
Then, I created a new /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder
Then, I took the windows e:ThunderbirdPortableDataprofile folder and copied it to the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder.
Then, I looked into the /home/<username>/.thunderbird_ORIGINAL folder and wrote down the name of the folder with the ".default" extension.
Then, I renamed the profile folder (that came from the windows e:ThunderbirdPortableData folder) "<name-I-wrote-down>.default".
And then, I copied the profiles.ini folder from /home/<username>/.thunderbird_ORIGINAL to the /home/<username>/.thunderbird folder.
I opened up Thunderbird in Linux and everything seems fine! (I'll definitely be keeping a backup just in case)
My question is: is this fine and dandy, or a recipe for disaster?
Thanks to Lucid not working properly on i845, i855 and other 8xx chips, had to re-install Karmic on my mum's computer.I saved all the data from her old install and I ve managed to get all her old emails from thunderbird, but I cant import her address book.In Thunderbird/tools/import/addressbooks it only allows importing of LDIF, .tab, .csv and .txt files, but I cant find any of these files in any of the Thunderbird, .Thunderbird, Mozilla-Thunderbird or Mozilla folders in Home folder or anywhere, all I can find is "abook.mab" which IS supposed to be her address book, but when I try and import it the entries are blank and/or indecipherable (prob cos not a compatible file type).
Its one of those "simple" things to do, thats taken hours and hours of time, but that I cant actually find out how to do.
I was wondering that if its possible to send mail using my own localhost mail server, I guess I made the settings using yast2. I am not sure that I did right setup. And if I did setup my mail server correctly.

When I configure this program, it defaults to IMAP4-type incoming mail server (Port 143) instead of POP3 (Port 110) which my ISP uses. I did not see POP3 anywhere in the available dialog boxes. Though it works for other email client (Evolution). I there a problem with the thunderbird itself or am I missing something special to configure that I dont know of?
I'm a newbie here but I have a question on how to make the connection between webmin and thunderbird via POP3. I have webmin set up and it is able to send and receive mail via webmin but when I enter the account details in thunderbird it cant find the settings for my mail account. I'm not exactly sure where I need to go in webmin to set it up to allow a connection from a client to allow the downloading of mail to the client. Would simply prefer to go to thunderbird to send and receive mail as opposed to logging into webmin then going to my mail.

i have a squid proxy on a centos 5.4 64 Bit machine.
i can share internet on my other boxes hosting centos 32 bit and windows by entering the proxy server IP in the network proxy (centos) internet explorer (windows).
but i cannot get mails on my thunderbird client behind the proxy even though i have included ports 110 and 25 in the squid. i v heard it cannot do it as squid is not imap proxy.
I am doing an analysis with postfix, qmail and sendmail analyzing its performance.I need to send mail of size 10 MB, 50MB and 75 MB and analyze the time taken to send each mail to different users.I first used telnet, but file attachment is very hard there.Then i went for thunderbird but the file attachment size is just 5 MB. So is there a possibility to send such huge file size?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have to set up a proxy for my work's network. No computer except the proxy has a direct internet connection. The proxy will NOT be transparent so it authenticates with Active Directory and allows or denies pages. The squid proxy is up, and working accordingly, denying and allowing what's needed to who's needed. BUT! Thunderbird and Outlook didn't work, so in less than 10 minutes I was forced to fall back.
I read googling a lot, and searching a bit here about socks, which seems to be what I need but also that squid is already a socks proxy. Web pages were the concern, it's not needed that other stuff is authenticated, it might as well be transparent for Outlook, Thunderbird and other programs *for example, it's not needed to block a Warcraft III game, though, allowing it explicitly is not the point either* but as of now, none can connect *haven't actually tried Warcraft though, but stuff like Adobe's updater didn't work either and I recall someone mentioned Windows Live messenger didn't either* The Squid Proxy is a CentOS.
I am using postfix as my MTA. It is running on ubuntu and I am administering the system through webmin, try as I might with different configurations, I can't send email from a client. when I look in the mail.log i only find:

Seems quite a lot out there are finding it simple enough getting Thunderbird/Davmail to work, yet I've been at it for days now and still no luck. I've finally given up altogether with Evolution last week, as it seems from weeks of reading and trying, there just isn't a solution for it to work with Exchange Server mail. Yes I tried brutus and its web sites are down so to get additions such as Brutus Keyring is impossible. (its all a long story for another day)Evolution is now uninstalled and in the bin.So now Im into the 5th day trying with Davmail and Thunderbird to get emails from my company mail exchange server.I am sure Im going to have better luck with Thunderbird from what Ive read so far, but it still eludes me how to set it up with Devmail and the information Ive found so far is not very clear. I am sure I am just missing the most simplest step somewhere along the line.
Can someone please post a detailed instruction on how to configure both Thunderbird and Devmail to work together and also how to test if Davmails is working?I can easily access my company emails via OWA with URl... from my home internet, so no issue there.From the efforts of trying to get Evol to work where it came up with the error. Now I cannot get hunderbird 3.0.4 to work just keeps timing out trying to access mail server pop.1and1.co.uk.Had to change some Firefox options to get it to work with any site other than google.Noticed that ping pop.1and1.co.uk sometimes gave a bad address until I disabled IPv6.
